Just realised the irony of Aragones dying on the first day of Black History Month.

2014 DDP Dumping Ground & Salvage Lot
Spade_Cooley replied to Octopus of Odstock's topic in DeathList Forum
One from the 2013 dumping ground: Dead, although for some reason its much bigger news in Brazil than it is anywhere else. -
Who are you referring to when you say "another"? I've just looked at the 2013 list and can't see anyone else that has died this month........ Who are you referring to when you say "another"? I've just looked at the 2013 list and can't see anyone else that has died this month........ Nevertheless, following the death of Sharon and Fergie Frerickson, this year is developing a trend of more 'misses' than 'hits'. I hope it doesn't stay like that all year! It's a ruddy shambles, it looks like more people on the planet who weren't on the list will die this year than ones who are.

I _think_ what happens is that the information isn't scraped from Wikipedia. A webpage called MusicBrainz scrapes the information, which can then be edited by its users to add the sort of stuff that wouldn't be Wikipedia-friendly (rereleases, working relationships, etc). The opening paragraph that appears on MusicBrainz is the opening paragraph of every WikiPedia entry though. The data is then scraped by the BBC for its site. Example, jazz musician Arthur Doyle recently died. So it goes Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_Doyle to MusicBrainz http://musicbrainz.org/artist/1303f406-149a-4184-a8d2-76dc7c038554 to the Beeb http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/artists/1303f406-149a-4184-a8d2-76dc7c038554

Too late at night for some sort of "let him clear his through" pun tbh, but The 45 King has had a heart attack.

The Fringes Of Fame/family Of The Famous
Spade_Cooley replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList Forum
Munoz has been taken off life support. BBC report explicitly states that she was "alive" before being removed from life support but, as the DDP precedent suggests, this is not an "unnatural" death, she died from whatever left her braindead back in November. -

Very rare that you can pencil in a death before it happens, but DDP pick Marlise Munoz's life-support machine is to be turned off at 5pm Monday. -
Rosey being raced to the finish line by Bobby Eaton. After being moved to a regular hospital room on the 18th, he's been downgraded to "critical" condition again.

More than enough time for those of us on the forum to perfect that "Fergie's successor as Toto lead singer/David Moyes" gag that we've not nailed yet.
-
#deepthought In the aftermath of the Fergie Frederiksen possible wipeout, will future dead pools be won not by the player who can find the most terminally ill people, but by the one who can work out which of them will actually obit?
-
Hmmm..not sure. I've have to really delve through the old records. Good pick by the way, Spade. Abbado was one of those which may slip under the radar as he has been ill for some time... Wasn't even on my radar until Christmas, my freshie cousin had bought a copy of "La Stampa" on a trip to Bedford to buy proper Italian bread and it mentioned that Claudio hadn't been seen in public for a while in the arts section. Deadpooling encourages language skills.

I'm just going to be (even more) self-serving (than usual) here: is six hits in 43 calendar days a record?
-
iirc the BBC Playlist section falls under the same ruling as the Sky "Journalists" page: because it's just scraped material from another site that updates automatically (as opposed to the manual insertion of AP stories onto The Guardian's "World" section) it doesn't count. Otherwise Chick/Chuck/Chock Wills would have scored points in 2013.

Baton down for Claudio.

Piper was legitimately the greatest racebaiter in history.

As long as Barry Weiss stays living, I'm good. Also, they're still showing the trailers for the new series of "Shipping Wars" on History at the moment with Roy talking blithely away unaware of the fact he's dead.
-
Still think he won't obit. 24 hours after his death and he's not been mentioned in any single newspaper anywhere in the world, let alone a British media source. Just to reiterate: this is a guy who was Toto's vocalist for less than a year (after their fame) and has never been involved with a top 40 single or album in the UK chart history.

Jose Sulaiman, former WBC chief who managed to stand out as spectacularly corrupt even in the world of boxing, has died aged 82. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/boxing/2014/01/16/boxing-wbc-president-jose-sulaiman-dies-at-82/4548055/

What I'm saying is, all we have to do is go down to the pound and get a new producer.

What about Suchitra Sen? Do we use local time of the death or UK time? PERHAPS (?) she died on when it was January 16th here? (not sure about this one and need guidance ) Cheers.

Let's do the obvious: Del Boy - David Jason (b.1940) Rodney - Nicholas Lyndhurst (b.1961) Grandad - Lennard Pearce (1915-1984) Uncle Albert - Buster Merryfield (1920-1999) Cassandra - Gwyneth Strong (b.1959) Raquel - Tessa Peake Jones (b.1957) Trigger - Roger Lloyd Pack (1944-2014) Boycie - John Challis (b.1942) Denzil - Paul Barber (b.1951) DCI Slater - Jim Broadbent (b.1949) Marlene - Sue Holderness (b.1949) Mike - Kenneth MacDonald (1950-2001) Mickey Pearce - Patrick Murray (b.1956) Sid - Roy Heather (1935-2014) Plus roughly 20,000 other actors who made one appearance in this show but that'll be enough to guarantee them a BBC obit when they go. Like "no, not Keith Barron. Yeah, I know Keith Barron was in it, but not him. The guy who looks like Keith Barron. He played a jewellery conman or something? Del cut his dick off. He was in "Doctors" as well." Patrick Murray ended up as a homeless alcoholic and now lives in a hotel with Brian "Superstars" Jacks, fwiw.
