Who Should Be On The 2013 Deathlist?

I agree that the people on the list should be sufficiently famous that most people would know who they are but I disagree that Herbert Lom and Tony Martin do not meet that criteria. A lot of the "fun" in the Deathlist is rembering those who have faded from public life but have left a body of work. Like Chapman Pincher for example who has been on quite a few DLs but no-one has any idea who he is. I'd keep him on as he is in danger of making DL notoriety like a certain Mr Dunn. Chapman Pincher is famous, he's wheeled out at least twice a year to pop up in the Mail or the Telegraph to tell everyone which British politicians of the 60s were actually Soviet spies, and he was an even bigger deal back in the 80s from what I understand. I know this is always the thing with "how do you accurately judge fame?" (I remember when Brittany Murphy died being stunned that people on here wouldn't know who she was), but Pincher passes the diptest. -

DL picks should all be ones who get the "tributes have been paid today..." mention on the evening news, imho. Like I said before, DL is Corinthian spirit, DDP is the professional leagues. -

The smart ones among us will start slowly leaking the names of people whose cancers are in remission over the next few months, except linking to the news article about their original diagnosis. This is known in DDP terms as the "Lee Evans Gambit". -

OK, staying away from the litany of the terminally ill that are listed elsewhere in this forum, and picking people who a: I feel have a DL "feel" about them and b: we could have good fun with threads discussing them, updates every now and then, guys I think would be decent 2013 picks: Dennis Norden IM Pei Joao Havelange Giulio Andreotti Lawrence Ferlinghetti Doris Lessing Pete Seeger Maureen O'Hara Al Jaffee Lou Duva -
Reg, yeah. Chopper doesn't really feel like a DL pick. Same way that they're not going to pick Bonnie Franklin.

Neville Southall's looking good.

Not Henry Cecil? Not Henry Cecil? Be a toss-up between Cecil, Winner and Clive James I'd say, assuming they're all still with us come January 1st... Yeah, that's three of the top 10 right there, maybe even the top five. Winner just "seems" like the perfect DL pick. Terminally ill, a cunt and he's going to do his dying in public.
-
Yeah, early December is usually the time to start the "who do you think will be the top 50 for 2013?" thread. My guess is that Michael Winner will be the number 1 spot next year.

John MacAfee, as in "the guy behind your antivirus software", is wanted for murder in Belize after a man was shot dead in an argument about dogs. Apparently his time in Belize was spent trying to discover "super perv powder". -
Texas Dolly diagnosed with cancer for the fourth time in his life. Well, after the fourth you need the kicker.

Only one of them is a deleted on legal grounds, though.

Insert your own shitty "tickle me" jokes here.

Been a strangely quiet year for dead wrestlers. Hector Garza has stage three throat cancer, but the odds on him getting a UK obit are basically zero.
-
Gonna say the latter is more important than the former.

Yeah, TV has never more resembled an episode of The Day Today than tonight.
-
I wonder if he wrote him a letter. Dear Lordship, You didn't butt fuck me, I got it wrong. Oops! Sorry Stevo I think you can get a card specifically for that at Clinton's.

I think Newsnight is more likely to be receiving its last rites next...

Looks like all the time I've spent on the rosary in the past week has paid off, the Times has come through with the Munoz obit.

If we have to replace Dunn (and, tbh, after reading the thread I'm leaning towards either retiring the #50 spot or just carrying on as if nothing had happened, a tribute the the military spunk that exemplified the Warmington-On-Sea Home Guard) then you need an actor who's been around for 50 years, is an integral part of British popular culture, has always "seemed" very old and probably has a good few years ahead of them. You could also throw in the fact that he, like Dunn, would be from a TV show where nearly everyone else has carked it. So my suggestion would be...
-
I dunno, if I'm going for a cuddly grandpa figure, Ariel Sharon probably isn't top of my list.
-
Really should be a DDP tribute video to Dunn, perhaps soundtracked by Enya's "Only Time".
