I had this guy longlisted for 2012 (Franken did some sort of benefit concert that got play on some of the political blogs), but backed out because I wasn't sure he'd get a UK obit. I'm ready to be disappointed within a few days.

I could have sworn he was already dead. How many Kray associates/contemporaries are still living then? Frankie Fraser, obviously. Freddie Foreman. Anyone whose names don't both begin with "F"?

I always assumed the number 50 spot would be handed to Ian Lavender when Dunn dies.

One-quarter of g-funk progenitors Above the Law, KMG the Illustrator, has passed away from unknown causes.

Good grief. Oh man, I remember that mag. It wasn't what it sounds like, it was some post-modern ironic hipster bullshit where women would dress up in kinda ironic traditional porn outfits (cheerleaders, maids, nurses) and have fake corpses laid on top of them in a kinda cheesecake fashion. It wasn't funny or arousing.

Yeah, I mean, if your death is on the 9 O'Clock news, you're famous. There's no argument about that full stop.

Yeah like Suge Knight would get on the BBC 10 o'clock news when he carks it... Actually he very possibly would, say if he was gunned down by one of his rivals or a teenage wannabe gang-banger. Probably wouldn't make the top story mind, but it would be happy news : ) Someone's getting dangled over a balcony within the fortnight... And Suge Knight's not even important enough for that any more, remember he got knocked out at the club by a hairdresser a few years back.

Well at least this cuts out what was going to be the first big DDP selection problem for 2012, which is would Bo Bruce still be "famous" enough to have her mother's death reported on the Daily Mail website. -
Ernie? Eric and Ernie, remember? "Four Candles", all that shit.

Finally reunited with Ernie again in the afterlife.

Current DDP pick Michael Dokes is in "the final rounds" of his battle against liver cancer.

Gossip blogs blowing up with the story that Nora Ephron is at death's door and not expected to make it through the night.

Do you mean 'survivee' as 'someone who are survived, that is, a dead person'? I've heard of l'esprit de l'escalier before, but seven years is pushing it a bit.

Wait, so Ted Heath didn't suck off Wilfrid Brambell in a north London toilet? That's ruined this country forever.
-
Dead at 23. That is very sad news... Second player of that mid-2000s Liverpool youth side to pass, Besian Idrizaj having died a few years back.
