Who Should Be on the 2012 DeathList?
Spade_Cooley replied to Spade_Cooley's topic in DeathList Forum
Welp, the list has leaked. Numbers one and two are as to be expected really, 37 and 38 are interesting additions that I'm sure we can get some coverage on, 42 is someone who I'm surprised we don't already have a thread for and I'm stunned that 48 has never been picked for the list before. The DL should break double figures this year, definitely. -
Team sent. Former Preston North End chairman Maurice Lindsay was the last man cut from my line-up, so if previous form is anything to go by he'll be dead by March.

Peter Falk has Alzheimer's.

For those of us following the brain tumour of baseball Hall of Famer Gary Carter, his daughter is thankfully posting reams of stuff detailing how he's currently doing over here.

Who Should Be on the 2012 DeathList?

Zohn will get the Daily Mail "cover any bullshit that happens in the US celebrity-sphere to get website hits" obit and might even get some chinstroke stuff in yr Guardian and Independen because of his charity work. He is in no way a DL candidate though, unless their two lean years have got them hungry for low-hanging fruit in 2012. I wanna see Chapman Pincher as a top 5 pick in 2012. -

It's the sole benefit of having a bunch of hacks as friends on Facebook. In between the repeated hawking of their own wares there's the occasional deathbed update.

Well, that's every single possible combination of "months to live", "days to live", "battling pancreatic cancer" and "fight against a terminal illness" put through Google, and every single newspaper scoured for possible hints at which sportsmen have terminally ill parents that might cause them to miss games. My team's now complete. Four journalists in it, not that I'm bitter about my career path or anything.

I can never remember if this counts as an obituary? I suppose it technically does?

Does he look awful? He looked like a guy who'd been undergoing chemo for the past three months. I see...but did he look awful enough for a place on my DDP? I'm skeptical. I think he'll be OK personally, I've not even got him on my mid-list for my final 20. Nicholson's throwing nothing but nails out there right now.

Actually, can we give Waddell his own thread? There's enough discussion of him in this thread to warrant spinning off. I suggest "There's only one word for that: bowel cancer" as the thread sub-title.

Just saw Sid in the crowd during Nicholson/Huybrechts. Twitter sez he's been advised against commentating this year by doctors.

Deathlist Dreaming
Spade_Cooley replied to harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I had a similar dream the other night, presumably this is going to be a regular feature for me in late December. Lorraine Kelly was third on the list. Only 50 entries this time. -
Yeah, I'm gonna be the shittiest NYE house party guest because I'll just be refreshing Twitter on my iPhone every ten minutes dreading the news. That and my crippling social insecurity, I mean.

Just screencapped the frontpage, definitely looks like a ghost to me.

Wrong thread.... -
What a disgrace that man who attempted to murder her only got 8 years . Sounds about right, porn stars aren't real human beings.

The glory days of celebrities dropping dead at 27 is over. It took a hell of a lot of effort from Winehouse to manage that, like six years constant self-destruction and creepy parenting. Pedo Herty is still alive (I presume, I guess we're at the ninth Libertines reunion by now?), neither of the Olsen Twins starved themselves to death, Lil Wayne has channelled all his drug problems into learning to skateboard at the age of 29... face it, unless you can find someone having a brave battle against cancer who knows a few journalists so their death can get covered, you ain't getting any sub-30-year-old DDP hits. -
Helen Frankenthaler, who combined vacuous chocolate box art with children's squiggles, is now expressionless after dying at 83.
