Happy 94th birthday! Loved you in The Cannonball Run.

Would have gone with "drink-soaked former Trotskyist poppin' off" as the sub-header for this thread.

I suppose the greatest treat for dead poolers when it comes to Hitch is that this is quite clearly a man who is going to be writing fucking reams for every stage of his prognosis and descent. Here's your first lengthy missive on it.

Good to see most of the Millar obits make the point that he very nearly killed off Sinatra's career with some of his song choices: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRNRaMToK1g -
The man believed to be Tokyo's oldest, Sogen Kato, has been found mummified in his living room and may have been dead for 30 years. His family are resultantly being investigated for fraud.

People I Was Surprised To Find Are Still Alive

Off the back of this week's Mad Men SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER, Stan Freberg. Him and Tom Lehrer are still alive while Allen Sherman's been dead 40 years. That's gotta be a pisser for him. -
Melvin Bliss, an obscure 70s soul singer who, through cratedigging, found one of his b-sides ("Synthetic Substitution") become one of the most sampled rap breaks of all time, furnishing beats for the Wu, 2Pac, Public Enemy and Run DMC, has died aged 75.

Take your pick. I mean, they did call Jacko's last six months right.
-
Always loved that Dylan song about him.

American journalist and three-time Emmy winner Daniel Schorr has died at the age of 93. He's best known outside the States for being #17 on Nixon's Enemy List. Only five of Nixon's original 20 enemies are now alive, so, idk, maybe the CIA aren't totally useless.

Kinda assumed Bunny Yeager, the pin-up model most famous for being Bettie Page's main photographer, would be close to death by now but a) she's only 80 and the internet appears to be utterly devoid of information about what she's doing now, or indeed since 1965. -
Radio broadcaster Robert Sandall, best known for Radio 3's Mixing It and Late Junction shows, is dead air.
-
"Confederate Currency" Chris Hamrick in suicide attempt. Might be worth keeping an eye on.
-
Manchester City Hall of Famer Ken Barnes dead at 81.
-
Hospitalised with breathing problems and still rocking the "Gary Glitter's country & western comeback tour" get-up.
-
Dead at 80. Here's hoping there's eggplant calzone in heaven.
-
I don't know if anyone has pointed this out yet, but being as Gazza claims to have known Moat from him being a bouncer when Gascoigne himself was at Newcastle, and being as a) Moat was born in 1973 and Gazza signed for Spurs in 1988... well.

"American Splendor" cartoonist Harvey Pekar, played by Paul Giamatti in the movie of the same name, dead at 70.

You've probably got to assume that Viacom CEOs, and Parker & Stone themselves, have got far too much money and safety to ever be the fatal recipient of Jihad. Some schmuck internet cartoonist who has just found herself placed on an execution hitlist by Anwar Al-Awlaki, however, probably might not fair as well.

Death Anniversary Thread
Spade_Cooley replied to themaninblack's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
What better way to bring this thread back after a week of radio silence than the 11th anniversary of the passing of: -
Dancehall progenitor Sugar Minott dead at 54.
-
Was unaware until reading some pre-WC final articles that "Brilliant Orange" footballer Rob Rensenbrink has vanished off the face of the planet, and serves as a Dutch Elvis when it comes to barely credible sightings.

It's OK guys, Gazza's on the scene!

According to this pretty interesting article from June, he's in the same facility as Bernie Madoff
