Hmm... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-56107036 With heart issues, sight problems and permanent brain damage at 29 (and the issues which caused them not defeated), I agree - not one who will see a long life.

As I don't want to bore you with overly long CV lists, I'll note the two things which guarantee her a Guardian obit. Peter's Friends, the Fry and Laurie/Emma Thompson/Branagh film from the early 90s oft cited as highly influential among Guardian type writers. And... The Dalek Invasion of Earth. (Although there's a myth she was considered as a Dr Who companion, the role *was* but Pamela Franklin was set to play it. When that fell through, she dropped out, the role got scaled down, and Ann Davies signed on... would have been interesting to say least as Franklin was 13 at time Invasion was filmed!)

Just noticed the great Claire Bloom turned 90 years old on the 15th. imo DL worthy one day.

Woodward again.

If Mark beats the Kid that'll be a genuine shock, no offence to him.

And to think we thought 6/40 by early March last year was impressive...

They all merge in the brain. Jones did do Neils show though. I remember the unnecessary loudness!
-
One time Jones appeared on Andrew Neil's Show (and iirc called Neil a leftie!). Neil says he went in quiet and polite, went in roaring mode as soon as they started recorded, and went quiet again as soon as the TV ended ie it's all an act. He's Katie Hopkins.

Either I'm getting old or top marks for Glenn Beck as "some journo with followers"!

Trump v Mitch is a bit like ebola vs covid ie I'm hoping they both lose...

Deathlist Dreaming

It was half-accidental, then I thought "is there any better Keane songs for the pun?" then I thought "I can't be arsed thinking of Keane for longer than a few seconds, press reply"... -

Is it any wonder? Wait, hang on... -
All the old or unhealthy folk got booted out by Boris/Corbyn/3 elections in 4 years. Even David Winnick is still alive in retirement.

Misread what thread this was in for a second and it took me to the third sentence to twig... -
Whose death will actually break your heart?
msc replied to Whitehouse's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Well yes, the Queens eventual death will be the biggest political (societal?) event of our lifetimes. I expect it to make Diana's death look quiet and lowkey by comparison and frankly I'll completely understand it - many, many people depend on reliable signposts and momuments in their day to day life to get by, and a near 70 year monarchs reign is pretty much Exhibit A in that regard. -
@Cat O'Falk odd yellow thing in the sky in Glasgow today, not seen it before, apparently its called The Sun? (Yes, how better to see if our friend is doing OK than make a crap astronomy joke in this thread? Hope your doing OK, Mr O'Falk)

If there's a vote for "not fussed enough about the monarchy to want it abolished, but don't mind Queen Liz on the whole" then that'd be me. imo it, give or take a persons specific bearable royals, would be the landslide opinion... -
He's ok. Not in the Seychelles, just taking an understandable hiatus. EDIT - Unless Time Team people die. Never watched it myself!

Ozzy, Cribbins and St Tom of Tardis. But imo it's the ones you don't expect to find sad that stick in the mind, if that makes sense? I knew Diana Rigg going would be sad, I didn't expect to be that fucked off by Jack Charlton's demise. Brains are weird things. -
Similarish thread imo. Reminds me to put John Brodie (whoever he is) on my shortlist for 2022 though...
-
Oh that is very unlucky. He was a unique pick in 2019 and 2020 for two different teams, but no one picked him in the 2021 DDP!

They did keep referencing it through the Moore era - watch the scene in Spy Who Loved Me where a single reference to her death makes Bond pale. And not how Moore's Bond goes fucking apeshit whenever a bad guy threatens a woman. Lazenby seems like a decent enough chap, but OHMSS (a decent enough film lifted up by the awesome Diana Rigg, oh yes!!!) is pretty solid proof he couldn't act for toffee, and him quitting the role (or getting sacked, depending who you listen to) is a fairly big reason the Bond films didn't die out in the 70s. (I know the joke was Roger Moore couldn't act either, but that's rubbish - he had a very sparse acting style but he's very good at repressed middle aged stuff in films like The Man Who Haunted Himself. Although I would say that, he's my favourite Bond.)
