    The Deathlist Cup

Death Impends is looking ominous, isn't he? Awaiting a QO for the former manager of T: Rex too. Gcreptile is a fine deadpooler but a 10 point gap with 12 days left might be a bridge too far even for them. If his soldier gets an obit, it's 2 points. Meanwhile RadChap is trying to run down the clock on what would be one of the biggest deadpooling shocks in recent history, imo. Elsewhere, Deadsox is only losing to Spade on "average age difference" and the final Quarterfinal could swing either way. A Rev Billy G or Colin Meads death in April would really set the cat among the pigeons, both being Deadsox uniques.

    Read Any Good Books Lately?

Damn, was hoping you'd say "oh anything under 40". I no longer qualify as young then... Although, my grandfather got my mum a library card when she was very young (before she could read), my mum got me one when I was the same, and we got my own the same when they were very young. Get them surrounded by books and reading from an early age, I say, and it sticks. Mind you, I saw a super nanny TV show thing a few years back, and on it, the parents, when their kid was acting up, punished them by making them read! So their child associated books with punishment. I nearly blew a gasket watching. I like books. Especially those by Agatha Christie.

    The Dead Of 2017

That's a shame. I was only reading about him last week, as he shows up in Jeremy Hutchinson's biography due to the Romans in Britain trial.

Well, as they involved Bob Hope and Zsa Zsa, I'm glad it's not what you're thinking! Basically, lots of people get drunk on (live?) TV and make light hearted fun of a chosen celebrity, who sits at the head of a table and is "roasted". Apparently they happen a lot.

    1. Dick Van Dyke

He's in that horror film Mary Poppins too. Alas, not as good as the Mrs Doubtfire one which only changes the incidental music...

    Football Manager Sacking Bingo

There's a corner of Glasgow that'd like to see him replaced by someone like...Brian Laws or Russell Slade, or someone else reassuringly dreadful.

    Football Manager Sacking Bingo

Bit irrelevant, though, being DQ'd and all that.

. EDIT - Now that's something I've never seen before - the forum crashing and duplicating a post when sent.

Hmm, thinking about Phyllis Diller earlier got me to thinking about those Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts. Can't be many folk still around from them, I thought, as the big names were folk like John Wayne and Sinatra and co. Well, most of the people have died, true, but there's still 99 "roasters" still with us today. Some better known than others, but here's an updated list of those from them still around... He was diagnosed with it after seizures in 2005. Only 2/3rds of the tumour is operable, and has been removed. He is undergoing what sounds like permanent chemo to keep the rest under control (and has had chemo so long he's acclimatized to it and no longer gets sick). He postponed chemo last year for a bit to climb Kilimanjaro, but is back on it. He still works full time.

To pick up on an older point, its a sobering thought to realise we're not that far off haing modern young celebrities where we can go and check what Deathlist forum posts were made on the day of their birth. (There''s footballers born 2000/2001 now, so, only a few years to go...)
