I like the concept of William Hartnell being 109 when he died, because he'd actually still be around today if that were the case! And probably properly bamboozled at how big the show's become... Probably not as much as the guy in the Star Trek pilot who was never used again, and died young, mind you.

So Brady claims he's dying, Mansons in hospital, we just need a Tobin health scare now for bingo.

Updated for you. Must be a software thing. I cant put a space between your names. Hyphen or underscore doesn't seem to work either. Wouldn't it be funny if you were that excruciatingly vile woman who 'writes' for the Daily Fucking Mail! It would be considering I'm in Canada. Welcome O Canadian person. A Random Canadian?

I'm really quite shocked at the lack of obits. He was a huge name in 20th/21st century moral philosophy and I would have thought he was guaranteed an obit from either The Guardian or the Financial Times. At least he's got 362 days of the year left to get a QO, so it's not another Huston Smith situation. However I'm now starting to doubt the rest of my theme team. IF your on twitter maybe take the liberty of politely querying the lack of obituary for him by tweeting the Telegraph Obituaries, Guardian Obituaries etc twitter accounts. You never know you may just nudge them into it! Or you could just accept this Times obit.

Probably catching up on those On Demand boxsets. "Ah, Netflix, this Game of Thrones is good fun, gives one a good idea for dealing with Charles..."

Or it could just be that a bunch of us have had this heavy cold that's going around and know how hideous it is, and none of us are anywhere near 90. (Well, I assume Toast isn't...) It takes around 3 weeks to recover from it, if the Queen caught it just before Christmas when her schedule started to change, she'll be under the weather for about another week. I doubt its worse than that, given she was able to film her Christmas speech not long before.

Ah cool, practically 18% of the way to a winner already. And with joker points still waiting on Mario Soares, who must surely be going shortly. Coward, Elias, Hankins, Lakovic, and Sumner were also picked for their days and weeks not months prognosis, so may come good. Anna Holmlund will either be a hit for the Deathrace, or recover, and Nevin/Mcgill/Laws/Downie/Byland are in injury time.

George Kosana, actor with a small but memorable role as the Sherrif at the end of Night of the Living Dead.
-
Breaking news - I can give you a hit! Jan Pruitt, COO, North Texas Food Bank. Did I make her my joker? Smart move if so. D'oh if no. Anyhow, a start's a start. Died Monday, so 2nd Jan.

I sort of expanded Dr Sims fame on here by accident. I picked him in 2016 because I saw him on the BBC News and mistook him for someone more famous. In 2017, I have no such excuse, I'm just a scoundrel.

Like I said I saw the shard of scratch paper with his name on it today and a loud aaarrrgghh exasperated out of me. I will say I'm not positive of an obit, he ain't no Rex Humbard or Oral Roberts after all. But to do the research and not have my shit together (see Glen Campbell) is embarrassing, and enlightening. I need to create spreadsheets daily like a few of you certainly do, then I won't have that problem.SC I put all of my names into a Word Doc. Though I ought to put WHY they're there, as I tend to forget..

I thought I might sneak "Most Improved", right till Vera Caslavska's cancer returned. Would be churlish in the extreme to complain about an 183 place improvement in 3 years though.

He was named Canadian newsmaker of the year, and that article refers to a public appearance in early December. But yeah, slowing down considerably, given he was out campaigning etc in October.

At this point, I'm waiting for the news that Ricky Javon Gray gets a stay of execution...a few months should do it.

and yet there is still no sign of her. This is how they used to deal with the death of Soviet leaders, but maybe I'm getting a tiny bit ahead of myself...Her health is now one of the lead items on the nightly news down here, so it is becoming a major issue. No it isn't. Davey's views are coloured by the seemingly slightly more hysterical Australian media. Royal things which cause barely a yawn here are seemingly the sign of abdication, death, or republicanism down there. It's a bit mad.

All of mine were still breathing as of 2am, but the sheer quality of teams on display here, it's the calm before the storm, surely.

Tommy Docherty interview. Deaf but seems fairly chipper for 88. Of note - wasn't Denis Law badly ill last year? Seem to recall Charon or Spade posting about it. Anyhow, he's had to withdraw from this weekend's Legends of Football Q&A night due to "ill health", being replaced by the much older Docherty.

Remember, as much as how many hits or who they are determines the winner, the order they come in is of equal importance imo.

Via her own website, eight in 1968 = 1959/60 birth = 9 points until 2019. I took the precaution of looking that up just in case...
-
Well, here's one, obscure but an interesting factoid worthy of note imo. Australian family courts judge Richard Gee, 83. Took over the court work of a judge who got shot dead in 1980. In 1984, he was in his house when it was bombed - he survived with minor injuries. Rebuilt his garden, including a pool. Drowned in said pool.
-
Could be worse. The American Dr Who, I watched that. They made him a human American, called Mulder. Anyhow, it had lots of aliens which he saved Earth from, but I watched for the whole 9 years and the Daleks never fucking showed up.

If it helps - probably not - Bowlen was on my longlist but axed early on, because those late stage Alzheimer's are just too tricky to call. When it came to jokers, the Drop 40 bonus changed my thinking. Why risk a 24 point under-30 for the off chance they're unique, when you can pick a popular 40-50 year old and get as many or more points. Then it came down the likeliest person on my team to die who had any shot of being on the Drop 40.
-
Lakovic is a risk but I figure if you're going for a shaky obit, you might as well take the punt with someone worth 10 or more points, rather than some obscure famous old guy.
-
Also, last I saw, he hadn't got that money yet to buy his "life or death medicine" that the court case was about.

Having dinner just now, but pretty sure I saw Kanarek interviewed by the Beeb about a year or two ago. If no one's found it when I've finished, I'll go looking. EDIT - The Guardian (not the Beeb), two and a half years ago. Looks like shit in the photo, but able to speak at fair length on his cases there, and you'd think the Guardian would have him on file, so to speak.
