Word of my demise has been prematurely ejaculated, bloody BBC. SC I was referring to the Schlegel chap - saw an obit, posted it, swiftly realised I was four weeks behind everyone else, and edited it out of existence.
-
Nick Bockwinkel died in November - qualifying obit from the Digital Spy. Jimmy Hill obit Greville Janner too EDIT - Yes, the Sir Creep obit counts as its already been counted. 2am brain, sorry.
-
It was Alzheimer's with vascular dementia complications, diagnosed as being late stage nearly two years ago.

I don't want to say "I told you so" (ignore my "he'll live to April" bit though, thanks)... but could the old sod not have held on another fortnight?
-
Damn. Seriously I'd have had FIVE hits in the first three weeks or less if we'd have started mid-Nov. there'll be no such luck in January all the good ones are dying. SC Most 2012 teams would have had Hitchens, Smoking Joe, Philip Gould and a few others if they hadn't all uncharitably died in the last 7 or so weeks of 2011! Jimmy Hill was on my list, his health made his pick in 2015 a good one, though by this point I thought he might carry over. Proper legend in the British sports field. RIP to him.

Thirteen days left to enter many of the 2016 competitions. And thirteen days left to submit a team for the Crowdsourced Deathlist. We've got 10 entries so far, and I can announce that not a single celebrity appears on every single list. No one is yet assured any position whatsoever, so every list counts. I've also had my first posthumous entry. I wont name the person who sent it in, or the celebrity involved. I'll merely note that the person in question died a few years ago, and it was fairly substantially publicized. Still, not quite as bad as the time Odstock mentioned that a Derby Dead Pool team had entered a celebrity who died in 1879!

Oh, I was hoping some folk wouldn't notice that!

His son became a memorable (well, I remember him) cruiserweight jobber in WCW.
-
Now he really can ask Barry Sheene how the alternate route works.

I've no idea who my joker is yet (depends, really) but its not like its going to be a title changing decision for Pan Breed anytime soon. Mind you, without any intentional design whatsoever, my short list appears to have a religious figure, an Irishman, a criminal and a country musician on it, which gave me a good laugh last night when I realised it!
-
As much as obit-less Jimmy Del Ray and Buddy Landel.
-
Nearly every "name" wrestler since then has got one, including Brad Armstrong, making Bockwinkel (who appeared on RAW in recent times) missing out all the stranger.

He is responsible for me posting full time on here. I used to lurk and make the occasional post. Then, one night, I had a dream I was on the Deathlist forum, and saw a post by Spade announcing that Blake Edwards had died. When I woke up, Edwards was still alive, but I thought I'd tell folk about this strange dream. He died less than two days later! Luckily, it wasn't Spade who updated the thread, as Magere Hein was quick to point out. Coupled with my then suggestion that James Moody would be a good DDP pick for people - he died 12 hours later - I decided to bite the bullet and join the forum. I also entered the DDP, but mistyped the email, didn't get entered in time, and promptly saw half my ineligible team die, but that's another story.

Speaking of specific fields of interest, Nick Bockwinkel didn't seem to get a qualifying obit. Unless...do mentions on Sky Sports TV programming (ie, WWE RAW) count? I didn't pick him as I thought he'd last till January, now it looks like I avoided my first "no obit" issue.

I know he's never going to be on the Deathlist, but I feel we should attract more attention to mine and Maryport's DDP favourite: Eric Lubbock, Lord Avebury. He was once Orpington Man after a shock byelection victory, now he's terminal myelofibrosis Lord! I'm assuming MPFC plans to pick him in 2016 again, and even if MPFC doesn't half a dozen others did, so no chance of being unique. Like many old favourites on here, he blogs about his ill health. Unlike many, here are some samples of his work. Truly, the kind of spirit that the Deathlist cherishes. As for his idea of a sweepstake, I'm thinking June, based on his blood test results. He's still working...for now.

If Channel 5's Best of Bad TV (filmed within the last month) is any indication, you're right there.
-
You are 5 hits off your 100th death for team Living End. We should run a poll in January on who will be Mr (or Mrs) 100th. The rest of the stats can wait till next year, for fear of a Clive Derby-Lewis going and ruining them.
-
True. Pick 20 nonagenarians who actually die and you're most likely winning. Even better, pick 19 nonagenarians who die, plus the younger celebrity with terminal cancer already in hospice, barely surviving the previous year etc... and make them your joker. That's 110+ points guaranteed. Rotten Ali's probably got stats somewhere about the likelihood of a DDP team scoring a Perfect 20, but even then, DQSP and The Living End have both posted winning scores that would get beyond the 20 nonagenerians dying team.

Comas? Can go on for years - look at Ariel Sharon, when he finally went it was a bit of a surprise. Alzheimer's? Depends on the person. I never had Terry Pratchett as he always seemed like he had another year in him (and his downhill stage went by very fast). I went for Jimmy Hill this year as everything did sound like he'd be lucky to live another month. It really depends on other factors, length of time, underlying issues, etc. Tony Booth, for example, has coronary problems on top of Alzheimer's. ALS? To start off, no, unless it's notably rapid. Once they go on the list though, they don't come off. Especially if we hit 5 years, which is around the max 99% or so of sufferers get. I've made the error of dropping Borgonovo and Chris Woodhead in the past, I'm not dropping Joost. Or Fernando Ricksen when I pick him. Jason Becker and Stephen Hawking are outliers but there is a reason they are outliers - its a nasty, nasty disease.
-
The key is to pick people who will die. People can over think the unique pick thing, speaking as someone who has done just that.

I could be wrong, but wasn't the show filmed in Wandsworth, South London? It was definitely south of the river. Stewart references it being held in Wandsworth in a few of the episodes being shown on Challenge.

Can't stand her. I was going to say "this feels too lighthearted a thread to ruin it with Mugabe" but then I see "one new post" show and Shaun just lists a whole bunch of the fuckers!

So the solution is Scottish independence, get rid of Trident, get some oligarchs to start pumping the Clyde estuary oil out, and then get them to all buy football teams. Simple. Largs Thistle, Rothesay Brandane and Huntly can be the Rubin Kazans of 2030s Scotland.

Is there a Magyar alive? I thought Buzánszky was the last of them. Reddit and social media Chinese whispers have him terminally ill with stomach or pancreatic or some other deadly cancer. The smoke causing the rumours is his lack of any public comments about Howard Kendall's death.
