    Close To The End

He has had heart problems since the 1970s when he had three heart attacks. He also, I believe, has arthritis, but I'd guess the former is more likely to be an ongoing issue for him. As he refers here to blood pressure issues, that would suggest the right track here. He continues to pack pork despite the history of heart trouble. He might want to think about cutting down a bit there. Seriously really like the guy - having met him a couple of times - truly genial type not greatly enamoured with his own celebrity; I'd really miss him too. He wrote this so he's cool in my books. Truly the music to see MPs lose their jobs to. Incidentally, no wonder YoungWillz gave up trying to embed bloody videos, that took ages, and I'm not that crap at it.

    Ideas And Possibilities For 2016

Are you taking the names from those that were in the final, or from the entire squad? If it's the latter, then surely Greavsie should be included. No, squad would be fine because I'm assuming near enough everyone in that squad is obitable. I could be wrong but I'd assume these days anyone who ever played for England once would be get a certain obit.

Banks, Stiles, St John, Greaves, Cruyff, Hill - there does seem quite a bit of jousting for a football representation on the Deathlist.

I wonder what Lana Wood thinks of Kirk's longevity.

I'd never heard of Luol Deng, though I have heard of Miami Heat.

    Derby Dead Pool 2016

An added interest to the 2016 DDP - The Living End is 5 hits off a full century of hits. Don't know if that's ever been done before. For the record, providing my maths aren't as wonky as ever, Tommy Jefferson has 30 already, three years in. Spade and the DQSP are on 52. Other recurring teams - Stab in the Darks on 77, Drunkasaskunks on 78, Windsors on 57. The Man In Black's They're Dead You Know needs one more hit to reach sixty. Stardust on 43. Perennial also rans Pan Breed are on 22!

    Nigel Kneale & Judith Kerr

No she is jusr ensuring there is plenty of footage for the BBC4 tribute programmes they will show next Christmas. (I have already submitted my DDP Theme team so she better come up trumps or kill the other 19 for me) Well, you never know. I was speaking to a writer (whom I wont name for personal reasons) who was on the DDP in December 2013. He seemed in very good health. He died five months later.

    Donald J Trump

I've got a gut feeling about Sanders doing better than the media seems to think he will. It all just feels very similar to Hilary v Obama (which Hilary had similar poll leads against in October 2007). If Trump wins the nomination, I can't see him winning the Presidency. The large centre ground of US voters seems to hide away from extremists on both sides, and Trump is louder at being an extremist than the Democrat potentials.

    Wrestlers/actors

I thought this was going to be a "post old news to nab some unwary DDPers" but Dynamite actually has had another stroke. His, third (?) in as many years.

    Nigel Kneale & Judith Kerr

Form watching: Judith Kerr is on Newsnight tonight. It'll be on Iplayer. She looks 90 odd but sounds in fine fettle, laughs at the interviewers crap jokes, memory working, can still apparently read (she gives a reading from When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit). She can even make jokes about escaping the Holocauste. Would be, to my mind, a complete waste of a DDP pick in the near future.

    Deathrace 2016

I moved the DDP obit reply to the 2016 DDP thread to avoid clogging up MPFC' game. In terms of this game, nearly everyone obits. In case you think I'm exaggerating, I won the 2015 version with the following people: Gery Leuliet, Isabel Rosado, Yutaka Katayama, Irving Kahn, Hans Erni and Roy Douglas. All of them qualified.

    Derby Dead Pool 2016

moved from the Deathrace thread... Us yanks clearly at a disadvantage when it comes to having a clue who might obit as we approach 'fringeness' (new word). He may not obit even here, but Rolling Stone would give a mention and there's that. Smart alecs? HERE?! It can be tricky for us too, sometimes! Best bet is to do a Google search for the person. You can do searches for websites and news per country, and if a person shows up as mentioned in the Mail/BBC/Express/Guardian/Sun/Times /Channel 4/ITV/Sky/Reuters/Independent within the last few years (doesn't need to be about their ill health either) then they are 95% certain of a qualifying obit when they go. It's the folk mentioned in the regionals - usually low level politicians - who might not make the major papers, because it depends on whats happening in the world. Jean Dore, shockingly, got a British obit because it was a very quiet week - quite often, mayors of large British cities go without obits. When it comes to Yank names, well: Mario Cuomo got an obit easily, so anyone more famous than him is no bother. I'd expect nearly all living Senators or notable congress types to obit here. When you get to the individual state Houses rather than national level, the person needs to be fairly noteworthy for one reason or another. Keith Farnham will probably obit because the Daily Mail have noticed Farnham's scumbaggery, but if one of his colleagues gets terminal cancer next week, I doubt we'll hear about it, except on this forum. Sports wise, the major US sports all seem fairly popular here - I'd think Baseball was the least, and John Farrell got BBC coverage for his ill health. It's the college football system and its counterparts you'd have trouble with, unless there's a big press story like with Joe Paterno. Actors and the like are more of an international currency so you shouldn't have any trouble with them. If a band had any hit over here, at any point, they'll get obits. Even Pauly Fuemana got one. How bizzare. The rest is gut feeling, really. Mind you, fortune favours the brave. Spade's won two DDP's in a row (and isn't out of the race yet for his third in a row) and does he stop to go "Maybe Andrew Millwall wont obit?" No, he went for it, and nabbed the obit, and it turned out to be a title winning risk. The Living End (DDT) has won the title banking on obits for Jim Stynes, Anthonia Onhoua, Jock Hobbs, etc. Though, given DDT actually is the Grim Reaper...

    Deathrace 2016

Without giving away any of my own picks, Captain Chorizo's team there has at least five names I'd expect to see dead by March

    Deathrace 2016

Sir Creep, your man with the cancer (Adam Something) from that band we spoke of a few weeks ago - no press at all in the UK so not going to be a DDP hit, but would probably be worth Deathrace points, I'm sure of it. The month is also young, I can think of several "gimmes" who only appeared in the last half of December: Lou Rawls, Paul Goggins and Neil Young* to name but three. *That's the championship winning deceased footballer and not the famous singer-songwriter, before any smart alecs reply.

His polling so far makes me think of what might have happened if his pal Vince McMahon had run.

    Deathrace 2016

I was a daft sod who thought Geoffrey Robinson might be a potential unique at one point much earlier this year. That went well!

    Greville Janner

There does seem to be doubt among politicos I know if Janner will live to see the "trial of the facts" in April. I suspect he will, but 2017 will be a mighty ask. It's the combination as Shaun notes, plus that this combo was discovered in 2014, and he's gone rapidly downhill at each check since. Having had family members with vascular, I know how quick it can set in towards the end. He will however earn more DDP points than Jimmy Carter or Lindsay Lohan might produce, for entirely opposite reasons! (You know, because Carter is older and Lohan isn't going to die...) Mind you, I have my eyes on another, more terminally ill Lord who I notice was on your 2015 team as well as mine, MPFC.

    The Crowdsourced Deathlist

Got it, thanks. You keep the trend going of those two people being on every list so far, too!
  20. msc

    The Crowdsourced Deathlist

We have 6 lists in - a growing rate so early in the month, I think. Only 2 celebrities appear on all lists so far: one had an important job, and the other is a popular name in the DDP. It has also informed me that a reasonably known but aged actress is in poor health. In case the poster who sent that name in is hoping for a unique, I wont name them, and I'll say that the only actress on my own shortlist is Joanne Woodward, and she is unlikely to be picked.* *Naturally, if Anne Hathaway announces terminal brain cancer on Christmas Day, I'll be right there, alongside every other DDP player in history, of course. There is some traction behind some interesting celebs though, including one I had never heard of before in August, but who I now wouldn't be surprised if they showed up on the Deathlist next year. They've got that type of public conscience (by deadpool standards) poor health momentum, seemingly. In fact, I've also seen their name show up on other forums deadpool threads. Funny how that works!

    Football

I note Carlisle have Yeovil at home in the FA Cup, a great chance to get to the 4th round, I'd have thought.

    Fort William Football Club

The streets down the road from mums (we were up a hill) were prone to flooding. When a relative went to see one a few years back, they asked about flood protection and the agency told them the houses were protected from floods. Luckily, they knew better due to local knowledge. We could be ridiculous here and point out that if Faslane goes up, I guess we're all to blame for being born in the wrong country.

    Greville Janner

The medical details can be found here. Degenerative vascular dementia as far back as two years ago, and worsening rapidly? Sounds like we can all wish a hearty welcome to Lord Janner's place in the Drop Forty, and maybe even a spot on the Deathlist.

    Somewhere Over The Rainbow

Of course, but that's the nature of life. Many a prospective DDP joker has failed to make the starting line. Those who contend just put the next hospice dweller on their list, and the rest of us go "Oh bugger, well, Bernard Hepton's still alive..." Congratulations to Handrejka, incidentally, on a well chosen unique pick.
