So, did Ritchii Kara die off the radar then?
-
On a personal level then, because how would I know what the world felt... January - Mae Young/Pete Seeger February - Maximilian Schell March - Tony Benn April - Margo MacDonald May - Colin Pillinger June - Rik Mayall/Eli Wallach July - Alfredo di Stefano August - Richard Attenborough September - Joan Rivers, I guess October - Gough Whitlam November - Acker Bilk December - Ralph Baer (the man invented video games - that's fairly significant an imprint on the world!)

Yeah, Brendan Rodgers... He's survived a fortnight since being doomed, but his odds are fairly short to be the first Premiershit manager dumped in the New Year. He'd been gone now if it weren't for Bournemouth blowing it. Well, that and the troubling problem of whether they can find a willing successor who'll deliver right away. It's Liverpool. They had done it at a random moment, had no one lined up, found their number one choice (Klopp) wasn't willing to jump ship to them, then wound up courting Rafa Benitez through the press.

So, How's Your 2015 Shortlist Looking?
msc replied to Spade_Cooley's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I'd point you in the direction of Peter Tobin then for your Inglorious Bastards list then. Discounting that he was probably Bible John, his list of confirmed crimes put him in the top echelon of British contemptible scum, and he costs a pretty penny in health care due to heart issues and the like. That, and he has protection inside prison to avoid being murdered, and you know what they say about honour among crooks. I've a (very loose) link to someone whose life was ruined by him, so, frankly, I'll be delighted when he's dead. -
Currently it'd be a four way tie - Clarke, Dennis Skinner, Michael Meacher and Gerald Kaufman, all of whom are planning to stand next year and highly unlikely to lose their seats. Of course, Clarke's the youngest there. EDIT - Bloody ninja'd trying to work out who I'd forgotten! Damn you, Michael Meacher!

I finished in 188th place in 2013 with 32 points, and 5 out of 20 dead. Disaster. I look like finishing around top 60 this year, with 39 points, and 6 out of 20 dead. Success! And that's with most of the certs alive, and my idiotic dropping of Sandy Jardine. Basically, out with the challengers, its quite tight, so wiser choices seem to win out over Terminator like skills, seemingly. And dumb luck.

One of the shadow people in the first episode of Kinda, when Tegan is getting possessed by the giant snake. I didn't say that knowledge was obtained from not being a geek, rather than cultural osmosis.
-
I don't watch Eastenders, and I knew who she was because she was in Doctor Who.
-
Jeremy Lloyd dead, according to BBC breaking news.
-
Clive James will outlive the rest. Randi to go first, and become a very grumpy ghost.
-
Former Father of the House Alan Williams dead at 84.

The ardent pedant often falls. Reminds me of when Nerina Pallot seems to have sung, "Safire, Safire, his typo is higher". That joke is dead obscure and not funny, but I'm proud of it.

Ebert reviewing a film called The Super in 1991. It apparently flopped badly. I wonder if our Sam still holds a grudge.
-
Apparently in remission.

I see we don't edit in subs above. In that case, please sub Arthur Gardner, deceased, for Clare Hollingworth, once a plucky young journalist who got the scoop of the century (WW2 had started), now...presumably a plucky old ex-journalist, given she's about to turn 104!

Increases Ronald Atkins obit chances, as the two time no-name Preston Labour backbencher is now the oldest living MP. Second oldest is Denis Healey, somewhat better known.

He has now rejected further chemotherapy. From a deadpooling point of view, one more dose would have been the considerate thing for him to do. Read an article from Martin Crowe on ESPN cricket app and it rather read like an announcement that he's counting down the days. "Death is something I have contemplated lately, only because the medical experts say it's nearly time" & ".... turbocharged to apparently give me very little time to live (only 5% of patients live up to 12 months)....." are two of the more obvious reasons to very definitely pencil him in on my list 2015. Indeed. One question remains: will he get a DDP approved obit? regards, Hein I would be surprised if he didn't. Guardian, Sky and Beeb covered his cancer relapse. Cricket World Cup year in 2015, in his homeland. DDP approved obit a cert.
-
*sound of several people deleting name from their DDP shortlist* Figured this was on the card, with him returning and winning that tournament the other week.

If true, could be to get the family mourning out of the way for Sheila Sim's sake before the press announce it? With her health, and losing her husband and brother in 3 months, I doubt she'll be about in twelve months time.
-
I seem to recall a news story from a few years back that doctors had told him to quit the boozing or he wouldn't see 70. Don't think he did (quit) but he did see 70. One to keep in mind regardless as he's not had the best of times in general. I gather he'll need to take a stand like everyday people if he wants to continue having hot fun in the summertime.

] Yet still no arrests . This started over 2 years ago ,similar to the Hillsborough so called 'investigation' they are simply kicking it into the long grass . Wouldn't be surprised if a certain man named leon kicked the bucket pretty sharpish . David Mellor stated a few months ago that Leon Brittan had health issues. While I wouldn't bet on it, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if a few names from that period...forgot to take their medication one day in the near future, in a manner of speaking.

As it's the time of sharing and reflection (or some rubbish like that), this remains my favourite post in DL history. Found one night via google, which introduced me to the Deathlist.
