Thanks for hosting the DDP, Man in Black (that'll be the Johnny Cash song in my head for the next 2 hours now) and good luck to the successor.
-
He'll be dead within 3 years anyhow.
-
Best not mention my first World Cup was 2002 then! This one has been a cracker so far.
-
http://www.scottishf...ewsCategoryID=1 That job seems cursed in recent years - Farry went in his 50s too. Gordon Smith and Stewart Regan will be worried...

It's a proven fact (though I'm not going to embarrass anyone else on here by outing their personal details) that quite a few Deathlist posters are involved in life-affirming, positive roles that involve caring for/helping/educating others. In fact, I'd be prepared to bet that many of those who keep their working lives a secret probably fall into that category. I know that those genuinely offended often miss this point. But, if you find yourself amongst medical people/ psychiatric carers and the like you'll often find grim humour going alongside acts of selflessness. As my dad would point out after working in A&E for decades, if you don't keep a strong sense of humour, you'd go mad.

Dead according to ABC on Twitter.
-
Francis Matthews, voice of Captain Scarlet (among many other roles), dead at 87.
-
Sad news. He was a genuinely nice guy.

27th August 2021. I'm good at this.
-
Just wait till Amorth needs his own exorcism, Frank gets Bough'd, Ferlinghetti beats off, and Kessler reunites with his Soviet buddies - then we'll have a winner alright! (I know, I know, he's not in the bottom few one year and he gets ideas above his station...)
-
And the General puts me to 3/20. A slow year for the Deathrace, but like the proverbial tortoise, my most successful run in this to date. Random fact - Jaruzelski had appeared on every combined annual pool I did. A bit like an evil Clive Dunn, except I only started in 2010. And in all that time, I still haven't worked out how to spell his name correctly!

16th August 2017. I'm expecting a Lazarus like recovery, followed by a swift decline anytime court proceedings are mentioned.
-
Not necessarily. He is still old and facing national disgrace for the rest of his life, both problematic for aging hearts.
-
Given Jaruzelski isn't exactly an obscure figure, diving about for Polish translations wont be needed when he actually dies, if that time is hours away as suggested. It'll be all over the BBC, ITV, US news channels, Guardian Comment is Free etc.

Caroline Aherne has lung cancer.
-
RIP Elena. Horrid news.
-
Just as well no idiot dropped him from their DDP line up this year. Oh wait.
-
More possibly one for the future, but former Thatcher shadow cabinet minister Sir Teddy Taylor looks ghastly (cancer?) in the BBC Scottish referendum documentaries from the other month.
-
Chap on the left is Bobby Eaton, Spade DDP pick, looking healthier than he has in years. I wont say wasted pick as that'll curse him. Chap on the right with all the hair is Ricky Morton of the Rock n Roll Express. Kamalas obviously in the wheelchair with his diabetes and no legs. Wasn't sure who the chap with glasses who looks like Honky Tonk Man had really let himself go was, so went round the usual haunts and discovered its apparently Bill Dundee. Bloody hell. Of that lot, Gibson (the other RnR) looks the worst, health wise. Especially compared to the birthday pictures of Lance Russell recently, who looks remarkably well for 88.

Your posts on this forum are often of the most insightful nature, and so less of them will be noticed, but real life must come first. And kids! (As a new parent, I know how time consuming - but worthwhile - they can be!) Best of luck with kids, workloads, etc etc. May the World Cup be a good one if you see it.

Given I was on nul points until mid-October last year, points on the board (with the death of Adolfo Suarez) by March counts as an improved performance in my book.
-
Points for me, for Fred Phelps. "Many DeathList successes bring with them some sadness, so it’s all the more pleasing when we have a success with a candidate who is generally accepted as evil." The front page, on Botha. Just comes to mind for some reason.
-
BAFTA twitter announced it earlier, so it'll be true, sadly. Hell of a CV.
-
Not a pop star but can't find the rock thread or its like. Scott Asheton, Stooges drummer, is dead aged 64.
-
Terrible news. RIP Tony Benn. [And as I kept a respectful silence on the death of Maggie Thatcher, I've no time for any tit for tat mudslinging.]
