    Deathrace 2014

Kessler's in pole position, is he the joker? Aye - sorry, should have noted that. Having only just twigged he's still alive, he's bound to snuff off in early January, is my thinking.
  2. Aye, and a Merry Christmas to all of you at home too, as William Hartnell once said.

    Deathrace 2014

Quit when you're ahead, they say. So I've got a few years left here... I Can't Believe it's No Pan Breed* *(because Pan Breed is DDP only, naturally...) 1. Heinz Kessler (I didn't even know he was still kicking...) 2. Gene Saks (directed stuff) 3. Lawrence Ferlinghetti (getting a very un-Beat like age) 4. Owen Chadwick 5. Renee Asherson 6. Kathleen Ollerenshaw (a bit old) 7. Fred Phelps (wishful thinking, eh?) 8. General Jaruzelski (the scourge of my deadpooling) 9. Gabrielle Amorth (because more deathraces should have randomly inserted exorcists) 10 Henry McCullough (didn't make my DDP due to heavy competition, but in a very bad way) 11 Freeman Dyson (just for the name) 12 Chapman Pincher (deadpool favourite) 13 Olaf Pooley 14 Charles Townes (invented lasers, and therefore deserves a higher Deathlist forum recognition) 15 Douglas Slocombe 16 Arthur Hiller 17 Frank Bough 18 Run Run Shaw 19 Alexander Imich 20 Clare Hollingworth

    Derby Dead Pool 2014

Entered the Pan Breed team for 2014. Half the team I picked in October, then the replacements (due to death and whim, respectively) were chosen by sortes sanctorum... (minus one Bible, or anyone of the cloth being picked...)

    Clive James

At the risk of being quoted in a few months with mocking laughter, his voice sounds stronger than it did a few months back, and I'm reminded of Bobby Heenan, who has looked ghastly for years now. Terminal, yes, but in years rather than months - I think he'll see 2015.

Who Should Be On The Deathlist 2014

With all due respect, I think I have more chance of showing up on the 2014 Deathlist than Carla Laemmle... & why would you be famous enough to be on the list, how're you more famous then the heiress & niece of the founder of Universal Studios? My point - I see you've walked into it!

    The Dead Of 2013

My shortlist of 35 is self-selecting itself down to the 20 topplers I'll need. I know how you feel!

Who Should Be On The Deathlist 2014

With all due respect, I think I have more chance of showing up on the 2014 Deathlist than Carla Laemmle... She was on this years! Erm....no she wasn't...... I appear to be a fucking idiot. Don't worry, happens to most of us at some point. Looking back at on old list the other day I found that I had listed Bruce Bennett on it even though I now find out that he had been dead for about 5 years. I had Jennifer Jones on mine once, completely missing that she'd died the Christmas before. Even the Deathlist had William Hartnell and Bette Davis after their deaths in the early years.

Who Should Be On The Deathlist 2014

Given Haughey was a hit on years gone by, might be a good call. Though I could be showing ignorance on the comparative notability of Irish leaders here...

    Derby Dead Pool 2014

On the "evil bastards" selection, I think I'm going for Watkins over Hall (like either would be unique picks anyway) - both are as likely to die, but Watkins would gain more points, and isn't going to have a natural death. (Going by my DDP record, Stuart Hall is now a good punt for folk wanting that 6 points...)

    Derby Dead Pool 2013

Joint 185th place with a fortnight to go. I might just concede this years competition now...

    Ideas And Possibilities For 2014

Of course it's possible, but I'd say: not bloody likely. The chances of detainees doing/being done such things are slight. Just ask yourself: why is Ian Brady still alive? regards, Hein True, but Watkins doesn't strike as the chap who would live into old age in prison. My suspicions are he'll Shipman himself within the next 18 months.

    The 13th Death Of 2013

Jake La Motta. Random choice, and feels like one of those random Boxing Day announcements.

    Ray Price

So that'd give Spade a 6 point lead with 16 days left, or am I missing out bonus points? Not over quite yet though - Adolfo Suarez might suddenly provide a Hogmanay twist in the tale (as a random sickly name off the Octopus's list).

    The 12th Death Of 2013

    Randomly, Eli Wallach.

    Peter O'toole

    Shame. A great actor.

He just needs to last around Claude Nobs 18 days in a coma now, and a lot of DDP 2014 teams will be happy. The chances of that are, in the words of Gorilla Monsoon, highly unlikely!

    Derby Dead Pool 2014

11 teams went for her in 2013. She's not exactly the most known for low hanging fruit, and not worth much in points.

    Derby Dead Pool 2014

Well, I can think of one chap, in his 50s, terminally ill, BBC obit almost guaranteed, chances of seeing 2015 about 0.5%. He'll certainly be on the Drop Forty if he is breathing on the 1st.

I'm holding off my DDP entry until after the 20th (and have four subs ready until that point), so little faith I have in him surviving the next 22 days.

    Sir Patrick Moore

Last ever...of 2013. It's due back next year.

2014 DDP Dumping Ground & Salvage Lot

Whereas my list tends to be whittled down from a mega list of "mentioned on the forum", "known to be ill" and "getting on a bit" and "gosh are they still alive". Some of which comes to me seconds before sending the list away. Amusingly, three of the names on Odstock cast off list are on my final list radar.

Who Should Be On The Deathlist 2014

Did we do this for this year? For the 2012, I suggested Sid Waddell ( ) and Frank Carson ( ). (Neither made the Deathlist, but then, neither made my DDP either, proving I should listen to my own sage advice more often instead of looking for random 'unique picks'...) Unless the search engine is failing me, no one has suggested Jimmy Hill for 2014 yet. He feels like the type of person they might go for, and is ill enough. And given Priebke is dead, we need a new Evil Bastard on the list: Stuart Hall might fulfill that one.

    The Dead Of 2013

Out late (4) Damn - if the DDP ran from October, my shortlist would have killed.
