    The Dead Of 2017

    Man, Spade wasn't kidding!

    Last Word

This week on Last Word, apparently: Dick Gregory, the African American comedian and civil rights activist who was also a dietician to stars like John Lennon and Mohammed Ali. Jeannie Rousseau who spied on the Nazis' secret weapons programme. Wayne Lotter, the South African elephant conservationist who has been shot dead in Tanzania. Sean O'Callaghan, the leading IRA member who turned informer. He helped to stop a bomb attack which would have killed the Prince and Princess of Wales. And the jazz guitarist John Abercrombie.

    Thoughts On The 2017 List

I am of two minds, but not quite Captain Obvious because of the vast middle ground.... Either the list ambles to 12 or 14 hits, and lots of folk get disappointed (though that's a good result usually anyhow), or if it does break the record, it'll break it spectacularly. No "15/50" record...
  4. Just cant see Zorders lasting a whole year and a bit on here without slipping into one of his muslim rants or general grumps. Can accept him being a master of disguise but not that good! Wasn't Caisson him anyhow? There was someone else who disappeared around that same time, that people often ask what happened to them and if they'll ever return... mijkediablo! I'll get my coat.

    Terry Pratchett

Saw that on the BBC. Seemed a bit too show-offish for my liking. But then I never liked Pratchett.

    John McCain

Alright, who told Rad about this "unwritten rule" and is quietly having a chuckle to themselves? Wasnae me!

    John McCain

Damn, there goes my theme teams for next year: Get Them on the Drop Forty and Get Them on the Drop Forty II, which would be entirely clones of the Pan Breed team.
  8. Posting demented bollocks alone isn't a bannable offence, shown by my ongoing presence on here.

    Sean Connery

He looks pretty damn amazing, considering how frail he looked a few years back.

    Businesspeople, Investors, CEO's

He would have been on my team as it stands, but, its August. Better picks will appear later in the year. Always do.

    Businesspeople, Investors, CEO's

Didn't I say a week or two ago there was someone that no one was mentioning but everyone knew, and it was almost farcical? Cant mind now. Anyhow, it were him.

Only Famous For Being Ill And Dying

He was on my mental List of People I Know Other DDPers Will Pick, in a manner of speaking... For example, Tony Beard in 2016. Knew he was ill, knew he was dying, had a reasonable (correct) gut feeling he wouldn't obit, noted for potential Deathrace use (in end I went DDP team), but also knew he'd be on a few DDP teams...

    Political Frailty

Shock news... that she lasted 2 years in the job.

    Political Frailty

Aye, but take Robinson and Kuenssberg's backgrounds, and I'll give you liberal Andrew Marr and staunch trade unionist labour man John Cole, both of whom immediately preceded in the role.

    The 100 Club

Sree Sree Shiva-thingymyjig, Mary Carlisle (I had her DOB wrong), and Johan van Hulst. We've grown some other centenarians since, and others I'd missed out at the time due to not having heard of them.

    Dead Pop Stars

Hey, the Mirror obit didn't mention her career at all. "Alexander Burke's mother died, now here's more about Burke on Strictly."

    Dead Pop Stars

    Back to death?
  18. Everyone always says holiday on these shows. For some reason, they never find the person who says "I'm going to put it in my savings account!"

    Each Year's Most Significant Death.

2014 is Brazil's World Cup hopes in that Semifinal. I wont fight anyone, just revel in how funny it was.
  20. PS Usually this dovetails into the debate about what is or isn't depression, doctors, etc etc. I don't really give a toss at the moment. An old friend of mine committed suicide a month ago, so perhaps I am unusually over-emotive of late, but Sean's health posts have been deeply worrying for some time, and are now somewhat beyond the "ah go get drunk/laid" jovial responses.
  21. Sean, you really, really need to see a doctor. Immediately. No one on this forum is an expert in your health and perhaps you exaggerate things (hopefully, no offence intended) but what you talk about is the prelude to serious illness so if thats how you feel... doctor. Now. The usual "at my age X happened" from the old fogeys of the forum (me included) are useless. I know I never listened to them. So, yeah, seek help.

    ALS/MND/other degenerative diseases

Hey, if someone wanted to start a list of every famous person with pancreatic cancer still alive, including those not in the press, I woudn't stop them... *starts taking notes*

    ALS/MND/other degenerative diseases
