Rod Edwards, original lead singer of Deep Purple, seems to have vanished completely. Rumours abound that he's either working as a paramedic in Essex, or singing under an assumed name in California.

Australian glam rocker William Shakespeare has died of a heart attack aged 61. His career never really got going again after he was convicted of underage sex in 1975. He went on to suffer mental health and alcoholism problems before ending up homeless. Hyperion to a Satyr. Or summat.

I was just watching some Albanian live TV news (as you do) on the web and the news of Norman's sad demise doesn't appear to have reached them yet. The whole country will go in to mourning when they find out. Perhaps I should send them an email.

I was sure that there is a Coronation Street thread somewhere, but I can't find it. Anyway, Bill Tarmey, who apparently plays a character called Jack Duckworth, is quitting the show after thirty years due to health problems described as "extreme breathing difficulties".

Elderly American serial killer Dorothea Puente is close to death. She was a "sweet-looking, white-haired landlady" who killed nine of her tenants.

Shame about Giant Gonzales, he was discussed as a possibility earlier on this thread. People with acromegaly tend not to live a very long time. I personally think that Richard Kiel, now aged 71, might be a good outside bet for the DL one day.

I think she will get a UK write up. That's a cracking pick Vaggy, well done.

Scarborough Athletic manager Brian France is in hospital having suffered a brain haemmorhage, shortly after he was hit on the head by a football. He also suffered a broken sternum and three broken ribs when he blacked out at the top of a flight of stairs later that day.

Belgian singer Fud Leclerc, who represented his country four times at the Eurovision Song Contest, has left us for the sweet hereafter at the age of 86. He achieved little success in his singing endeavours, culminating in a "nil points" effort in 1962, whereupon he took radical steps:

...It was never in doubt. Well done Lady G. Nice tribute from the band as well.

I don't think there's too much to worry about. To be successful, the Republicans always need to get votes from the centre gound of US politics and they won't get many with this mob calling the shots.

David Thompson has indeed been diagnosed with cancer. Inoperable pancreatic cancer to be precise.

Janis Olson, 31, a Canadian woman suffering from bone cancer, has become the first person to survive being surgically cut in half and then put back together again.
