    Assassinations

Seven people have been arrested in the Irish Republic over an alleged plot to kill the blasphemous Swedish cartoonist. For a moment, before I read that the arrested men were of Middle Eastern origin, I thought there was some sort of involvement from battle hardened traditional Irish paramilitaries, out for the reward money, which would have been a bit of a turn up for the books.

Not Really Famous, But What A Moniker!

She hasn't got a hope in hell of getting a UK obit, but that doesn't mean that the fabulously named Wilma Mankiller, former leader of the Cherokee Indian community, shouldn't get a mention here. She's got terminal pancreatic cancer.

Ron Banks, lead singer of American soul group The Dramatics, has died of a massive heart attack. The Dramatics toll of death is now right up there with The New York Dolls and Lynyrd Skynyrd, if not quite as good as The Ramones. Their line up at it's peak in the early seventies was thus: Ron Banks - Died of a heart attack today aged 58 William "Wee Gee" Howard: Died of a heart attack in 2000, aged 49 Elbert Wilkins - Died of a heart attack in 1992, aged 42 James Mack Brown - Died of an aneurysm in 2008, aged 58 Willie Ford - Still Alive Larry Demps - Still Alive
