That's caused by the British Government being stuck in it for the last six months I'd imagine... The person thought most likely to replace Geir Haarde, Social Democrat Ingibjorg Gisladottir, will not be taking the job as she is receiving treatment for a brain tumour. That means Johanna Sigurdardottir will become Iceland's leader, the word's first openly gay Prime Minister.

That'll be the poor deluded Andrew Norman Wilson, who was once duped in to publishing a faked love letter in his biography of Sir John Betjeman, in which Betjeman had supposedly written to his hitherto unknown mistress.

Blake Edwards has exhibited his artwork for the first time in twenty five years. He doesn't look very close to death in his photo.

How about abandoning the points system and turning the sprint in to a marathon by keeping the game going? The winner will be the first team to lose every single one of their picks.

Had Gabriel ParĂs Gordillo lived another month and a half, it would have been him. The oldest living former head of state is now Johan Ferrier of Suriname, with Mamadou Dia of Senegal not far behind. These lists may be of some interest to you. Mamadou Dia has died, aged 99.

She must have been very young when she became a mother, or they've made a mistake about her age. David Koresh was born in 1959. Incidently. Branch Davidian member Jaime Castillo, 40, died a few weeks ago. He was a drummer in David Koresh's band.

That reminds me, CP. I saw this mention of you a few days ago, in a not entirely accurate page about DL: http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Death_List Keeping on topic, The Sun have just done an interview with Rochus Misch, the last survivor of Hitler's bunker. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/woman...icle2158743.ece

This story could run and run... Hopefully into 2010. I certainly hope not. Another clinic has stepped in to help her out. I do apologise for cluttering up the DDP thread with stories about this woman. Maybe she could have her own thread?? I never asked OoO at the time because he was so frazzled uploading everything, but will I get an unnatural death bonus if she is starved to death? I don't think it would merit unatural causes points because she is being legally obliged to die 'naturally'. No different than when someone is in a coma for a short while and it is decided not to keep them alive for much longer... Good points, but surely if someone is "legally obliged" to die, then by definition, they will not be dying when Mother Nature might have intended. She is only in this predicament, by way of unnatural causes - a car crash. Just say she'd been in a vegatitive state for a month after a car crash and then died after her machines were switched off, I'd probably get an unnatural death points bonus. Should it make a difference because she's been brain dead for seventeen years? And can being starved to death on purpose ever be thought of as a "natural death"? I won't say any more on the subject, as I wouldn't want anyone to think that I really am bothered about the extra points. Heaven forbid!

Natalie Cole is to undergo a kidney transplant operation next month, after her sister agreed to be a donor. She is reported (by the National Enquirer) to be too weak to have the operation right now.
-
Well it kind of is natural - she is in a coma- she can't feed herself-thus she will naturally die... Not that I'm that bothered about it, but she'll either die of dehydration/starvation, or, looking at the broader picture, as a direct result of injuries sustained in a car crash. I'll leave it to OoO to make the decision and take it really badly if it doesn't go my way.

Dead Edward Kennedy/Curse of the Kennedys

Ah, I've heard of butter beans, what a strange thing to serve at a posh dinner. I have childhood memories of butter beans in soups, made when times were hard. If David Cameron ever becomes Prime Minister, he'll probably try and go one better by offering manglewurzel al dente as a main course. -

The French went into the menu in a little detail, as the French are wont to do, apparently it is based on Abraham Lincoln's tastes. He adored apples. Oh and the Merlot and Sauvignon is not French, forcement. What are wax beans? It is a different American name for a something like a runner bean, or are they something we don't eat at all over here? Sorry to wander even further off topic. -

Sorry to drift off topic, but here's what was on offer at the inauguration lunch: Starter - Stew of sea scallops, shrimp, lobster and black cod in a cream sauce, baked in a terrine covered with a puff pastry. Main Course - Winter veg medley of asparagus, carrots, brussels sprouts and wax beans served with duck and pheasant Dessert - Cinnamon apple sponge cake. I'm not sure about the starter, unless it was cooked properly, 230 of America's great and good could be stricken with awful food poisoning. -
