David Harts listed on Wikipedia don't - currently - include our croaking man. So, no CPDP points, then. He ought to get one for the DDP though, quite a notorious figure in his time, friends in high places, all that...providing he pops it next year... Well I picked him for my DDP team - only to be told in DL Chat last night that he was already dead. I can find no evidence to support this claim, so I'm hoping he still breathes. I hope that, unlike Phil Drabble and Steve Fossett, I'm right about this one.

I think past winners Fallen Sparrow and the late MT Graves were "modern Americans".

Well done to the aptly named David Pratt, who plays for Chippenham Town in the British Gas Business Southern League. He managed to get himself sent off after three seconds for violent play at the weekend, setting a new record in the process.

The hoax, which didn't originate on DL, has made the papers. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/culturemon...y-gelbarts.html -
Llewellyn is/was in a hospice, which was good enough for me, they don't let just anyone in. His liver is so ravaged by booze that it might even give up the ghost before the cancer gets him. I went for Richard as well, as I'm trying to stick to my policy of giving younger players a chance to impress (a bit like Exeter City). Wendy Richard isn't getting better anyway, she has terminal cancer and has just temporarily stopped getting worse. Shih Ming Teh, Jack Ramsay, Ian Cundy and Rosemary Pitman have all been booted out of the first team after failing to take their chances to score this season. I think you should reconsider leaving out Cundy. I left out Pinter because of his slow progress and then look what happened... Richard is out (at the moment) and I can't seem to find a place for Wisdom. Like you DDT, I've got a youngish squad, which can be a risky strategy... Wisdom is a cert, TMIB, have a heart and let him in. Another thing, I would have had James Bevel and Ray Deakin in my team, but they both died too early, which is lucky for me as neither of them have managed to get UK obits. It doesn't exactly bode well for the rest of my Z listers.

More Steve Jobs news gossip.

Lark Previn, the adopted daughter of Mia Farrow and Andre Previn died aged 35 on Christmas Day. Her funeral is today, I wonder if her stepfather and brother in law, Woody Allen has been invited?

Well out of their range, I think. It'd take a suicide attack or similar to get close. They are lobbing glorified mortars and in response being hit by jet fighters, the lopsided death tolls tell that story pretty clearly. You mess with the bull, then you get the horns. Just as those who sow the wind will eventually reap the whirlwind.

A smoker from Hong Kong who has to use a ventilator to breathe is seriously ill in hospital after blowing himself up by having a cigarette while using his oxygen tank. http://news.theage.com.au/world/sly-smoker...81229-76oc.html

Jazz trumpeter Freddie Hubbard is reported to have died, aged 70.

George Rene Francis, America's oldest man, has died at the age of 112. He was born on the very same day as Henry Allingham. A unique pick on the DDP for All Nails In The Coffin, if he gets an obit...

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will deliver Channel 4's alternative to the Queen's speech tomorrow.

OoO, why don't you take a few days off? It will all still be there when you come back. Enjoy Christmas with friends and family and get drunk, I'd hate to think of you spending Christmas afternoon wrestling with HTML codes. My team will be going in later today, I think it's safe to say I'm retiring from ultra competitive deadpooling. [Edit - I lied about my DDP team, it's not that bad actually, but I won't be winning next year]

Former Marillion singer Fish has been forced to temporarily retire from music after an "irregular cell growth" was found on his vocal cords. He has adopted a rather philosophical outlook to his predicament -
Lord Attenborough is in hospital after banging his head in a fall at his home. He slipped in to a coma, but he's woken up now.

Struggling with your logic there, Banshees. Li Guoxing, who was one of the first people in the world to receive a face transplant has died. Actually, he died in July, but his death has only just been reported...maybe they didn't recognise the body.

James Bevel has died.
