    Ideas and possibilities for 2007

Whilst checking to see if Mr Hewlett and Mr Packard were still alive, I note that the recently ousted chairwoman of HP, Patricia Dunn, has been diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer. She should past the fame test - Forbes voted her as the 17th most powerful woman in the world in 2005. Mr Hewlett and Mr Packard are both long dead.

I think Nick Du Toit should be on next years DL. And the President Of Slovenia. And Sidney Sheldon.

    The Chequered Flag

Not an F1 crash, but during the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series this week, there was a very nasty 200 kmph accident between two drivers. Both are fighting for their lives.

    Read Any Good Books Lately?

I've dumbed down and read "The Other Side Of Nowhere" by Daniella Westbrook. I don't think she'll win the Nobel Prize For Literature, but it was a very good read, describing her slide in to drug addled, septum rotting oblivion.

I think the thread should be allowed to stay. I can see Bald Rick's point, but there are only four or five deadpool threads and they will float to the top of the board as and when someone dies. Well done to Canadian Paul for his speedy completion of the list of candidates. Good work sir!

    Suicidal Celebs

I've heard of a suicide method which I think could be an urban myth - shoving a sharp pencil in each nostril and then pushing them quickly and violently upwards in to the brain.

It's been at least a week since I found an ill national leader. Than Shwe, the despotic ruler of Burma is reported to have a few health issues. "...Last year the then-75-year-old SPDC senior leader, who is known to suffer from hypertension and is a diabetic, had a mild stroke but quickly recovered. In the past few months there have been new reports that his health is deteriorating again, according to a Myanmar army doctor who spoke with Asia Times Online. According to one foreign visitor who recently met with Than Shwe, the senior general is often short of breath. In a video of his daughter's recent wedding viewed by Asia Times Online, he clearly had trouble walking." Because of the state sponsored murder, torture, rape, detention without trial, massive forced relocations, and forced labor that Burma has inflicted on it's people, I hope Than Shwe dies a slow and painful death

    Farrah Fawcett

Yes. Not nearly as fatal as pancreatic cancer, but similar in the sense that it can fester for quite a while before a positive diagnosis, by which time the tumor might have spread to the bowel, the large intestine or the anus.

    Suicidal Celebs

The very silly death metal singer, Glen Benton, the leader of Deicide always said he would kill himself when he was aged 33. I believe that deadline has passed, but he has still not expired.

Looks like you have to wait about a month, CP Looks like he's still on the chopping block though, which means eventually I should get my points. The air of uncertainty is no different from that of a terminal cancer patient really. All 32 M names have joined the Hall of Candidates, which means I'm almost at 200 names up there. I'm rather hoping that the laughing bomber, Amrozi bin Nurhasyim, might br the first CPDP candidate to be executed. There is a final appeal to be heard very shortly and assuming that doesn't work (he has admitted to been involved in the deaths of over 200 people) a mutually convenient execution date should be arranged. The Indonesian authorities have refused my pick's request to be beheaded, so he will face the firing squad.

Cahal Daly, Emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop Of Armagh and former Primate Of All Ireland is 89 years old today. His Wiki entry mentions that he has suffered from "considerable health problems" and was unable to attend the funeral of The Pope last year for medical reasons.

    Ideas and possibilities for 2007

I added both of them following this post, TF. I had noticed von Bulow before, but it's a difficult one to call. Is she any more likely to die in 2007, then in the last 25 plus years? Felt it was worthy of adding on to the revised "More likely to die (and get UK obit) list" Likewise Blackham, I'm sure somebody mentioned him somewhere, but he's a good candidate, for DL perhaps as well. The only problem with Hadlee is an obit, but I think the BBC might do. But I don't think he'll make 2007 - I'll keep my (eagle) eye on that - if he's still ill, I'll pop him on the list soon. I reckon Hadlee would definately get a UK obit OoO. The Times always wax lyrical about old cricketers who leave the crease. We'll soon find out anyway. Times Obit !
