Meanwhile in Guam.... The victory of super-heavyweight RJ Blas in the judo has lifted hearts. He didn't coming anywhere winning a medal but he did manage to beat someone in the first round. This makes him the first competitor from Guam to ever win anything at all, in twenty four years of Olympic participation. Similarly, 100m sprinters from the perennially underachieving island nations of Kiribati and Tuvalu have made great progress by not finishing last in their preliminary heats, thereby ending longstanding national traditions of coming last in everything.

Hi RA, could I have some points (not really bothered how many!) for Gitta Sereny? Thanks.

This is a tad confusing, so bear with me. The comedian and folk singer Sid Kipper is apparently in very ill health and will retire after a farewell appearance at the Whitby Folk Festival later this summer. However, the problem here is that Sid is actually a fictional character played by Chris Sugden and I'm not sure if the ill health I've heard about is affecting just Sid, or both of them. Sid was once a member of The Kipper Family with his dad Henry, played by Dick Nudd. That act ceased when Henry was killed off after Dick decided to retire from the music business (s/he is now believed to be living as a woman in Ireland). So, in summary, I've got no links to suggest a person who doesn't exist in real life - and whose alter ego might not get an obituary anyway - has an unspecified health condition which may or may not be life threatening. Got to be worth a gamble, surely?

Not really. Along with other things the coca cola chicken doesn't use the can as a stuffing. Coca cola chicken also has a decidedly sweeter taste although to really get the sweet you need Pepsi. Personally the best was original Dr.Pepper chicken where the chicken marinated in the soda overnight. Remember people when making these soda and or beer chickens to use metal cans. Use the cans. Don't use the bottles. Beer bottles are glass and usually break with the heat and the soda bottles are plastic which destroys an otherwise good meal. Good to see you posting again Bruno. Are you well?

The singer/guitarist Johnny Dickinson, who gets regular air play on Radio 2's folk show, is suffering from a nasty combination of blood cancer and Guillain-Barre Syndrome.
-
Although he probably can't compete with Johnny Tapia in terms of sheer childhood trauma, the Irish boxer Michael Gomez also began his life unconventionally and carried on in a similar vein: I'm sure I remember there was some discussion about making a film of his life as well.

Ideas And Possibilities For 2013
DevonDeathTrip replied to The Unknown Man's topic in DeathList Forum
What'd you reckon his chances of an obituary are? Pretty low, even in an American dead pool. Only Supreme Court judges get obits, and Reichbach would probably only get an obituary in local New York papers. I'd agree if he wasn't a judge who'd made an unprecedented admission that he was an enthusiastic cannabis user. This disclosure escalates his 'fame' well beyond that of your regular district judge. His plea for cannabis to be legalised has been covered in the UK, both by The Guardian and Reuters. Does that mean he'd get a proper obit? I'd be about 51% sure of it. -
