Authors Last A Long Time, But....

Mine too. He wrote a few books for grown ups as well. Here's a proper UK obit for Christopher/Youd. I wonder if anyone picked him for the DDP?

The Next Piper At The Gates Of Heaven

Native American Indian Tony Tecumseh, founding member, singer and guitarist with 60s Californian psychedelic garage popsters Afterglow (possibly the most obscure band ever to be mentioned on these forums), has died at the age of 72. Does anyone else think that Meadowland Of Love is just wonderful?

    Bee Gees

Robin Gibbs says he feels "fantastic" and that his cancer has "nearly" gone . More interestingly, he says he has colon cancer and not liver cancer, as has been widely reported. If that is true, his chances of making a recovery are much, much better. Maybe the joke was on us?

The Cardinals Of The Roman Catholic Church

Faustino Sainz Munoz isn't a Cardinal, so you'd probably be better off looking out for the Clerics thread to rise to the top! I think a few people have picked him on the DDP this year, however I dropped him from the squad as: A) I'm too impatient and B )I discovered he was still well enough to preside over Mass in December (the story is a bit mangled by Google translate, I'm afraid). Also, I was having obit concerns. Is he as newsworthy as we might think? The Times would have been most likely to give him a write-up and now that they are no longer considered a valid obit source due to their paywall, his chances of scoring points might have been severely impeded. I'd hazard a guess that The Scotsman would be his best chance, they seem to report Catholic goings on much more than their counterparts in England, possibly due to a wider proportion of their readership being of that persuasion. He'll probably die tomorrow and get a double page Telegraph spectacular now I've written that.

The Fringes Of Fame/family Of The Famous

17 year old Stacey Irving has been warned she faces death if she doesn't do something to curb her "chronic chicken nugget addicition". She claims never to have eaten fruit or vegetables.

    Reg Presley

Yes. Damned if I can think of a good sub-title, though.

    Reg Presley

I'm sorry to tell you that Reg has been diagnosed with lung cancer.

Cricket Thread. Only Mad Dogs And Englishmen

Indian test cricketer Yuraj Singh, 31, might be worth keeping an eye on. In November he announced that a tumour had been found on his lung, but that it was benign. Now he's returning to the UK to see an oncologist and "doesn't know" if he will need chemotherapy. It seems very odd that a straightforward benign growth wasn't just surgically removed. Also, benign tumours don't generally respond to chemotherapy.

    Hakimullah Mehsud and his Successors

Pakistani news sources are today reporting that Hakimullah "Lazarus" Mehsud is still alive.

    Sinéad O'Connor aka Shuhada' Davitt

I mean, how thick are these kids? Would they be fooled by a waxwork, or would they suss it when their dinner failed to arrive on time? D'ya think Gail Porter standing in would fool them for a week? Sinead O'Connor hospitalised with depression. Apparently she had another go at killing herself recently. Edit - Thought I'd better create a thread for her. She seems to have lost the plot a bit recently.

Country For Old Men (And Women)

Clent Holmes, another Drifting Cowboy. Not dead, but now aged 94 and suffering from Alzheimer's Disease, located by police in a befuddled state over 90 miles from home, having gone out for a drive to who knows where. Another Drifting Cowboy floats away in to the sweet hereafter, or summat... Pee Wee Moultrie, who appeared on Hank Williams' first recordings, made in 1938, has died of a heart attack at the age of 89.

    The Dead Of 2012

Dead. Here's hoping for a decent obit. Edit: And her age... I think, from my research when picking my team, she was 56, give or take a year. If all the DDPers who picked Gary Abblett didn't pick Dame Lesley, if no one picked her as a joker, if Hakimullah Mehsud isn't officially dead yet.....does that mean we're in the lead?

    Derby Dead Pool 2012

Reuters obit for Bill Janklow I think it needs to be a Reuters UK obit? I didn't pick him because I didn't think he'd get a proper obit, but I hope those who took the gamble get their reward.

    The Dead Of 2012

I heard on a quizshow i think, that bob holness was the first ever person to portray james bond don't know if its true or not. He was I think considering they will probably be making james bond movies for a long time to come yet being the first ever bond is something to be proud of certainly more than blockbusters IMO. Or as ed milliband calls it blackbusters haha http://www.dailymail...tter-gaffe.html He was actually the second person to play Bond, there was an adaptation of Casino Royale broadcast on CBS in 1954 as part of the series Climax, starring Barry Nelson as 007 noooooooo your messing with my entire james bond universe you have to be wrong you just have too!! But alas I checked and your right Its going to take some time to recover thanks jr976evil Barry Nelson died in 2007, a DL search tells me that I reported his death. It's a times like this that I wonder if dementia might be setting in.

    2. Dick Van Dyke

Dick Van Dyke is to marry again . His future wife is 39, a mere 47 years younger than him. I hope old Dick can handle the all the excitement.

    Joseph Kony

"Joseph Kony will be killed soon", according to the Ugandan army. This is a pretty bullish assessment, seeing as they have no idea where he is. But as I picked Kony for my DDP team (a last minute replacement for Hugo Chavez), I'm pleased there's no talk of taking him alive.

    The Dead Of 2012

Was this Ed's attempt at counteracting Diane Abbott's racist comment regarding whites? Here's hoping that Ed Milliband stays away from his keyboard when Brian Cant dies.

    Penny Marshall

Popular deadpool pick Penny Marshall, who is supposed to be terminally ill, appeared on the Rosie Show in America this week. There are some videos of her appearance at the end of the blurb. She didn't reveal anything about her health, so you can only go by her demeanor and appearance.....draw your own conclusions.

    Reg Presley

Reg Presley is in hospital again Let's hope it's a mild thing. Anyway, gives me the chance to post the timeless Troggs Tapes for the millionth time (you never know, there may be someone out there who hasn't heard it) and hope that Reg's heart carries on going for a while longer. Can he have a thread? Reg is now back home from hospital, but:

    Knitting For Hamsters

I've never really considered knitting, but a thought I've often had about the little creatures is this: Is it possible to juggle hamsters humanely? (I know these are cats, but a google image search for "hamster juggling smiley" didn't produce much)
