To no-one's surprise, Kony didn't show up and the deal's off for now. Let's hope he's dead. The governments of Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Sudan have just launched a joint military offensive against Joseph Kony's Lords Resistance Army bases. He seem to have run out of friends in high places, hopefully he'll be killed at some point in the next few hours, unless he's dead already. If you believe 'Uganda's leading website', the net is closing on Kony in Operation Lightning Thunder (catchy title). Five rebel commanders have allegedly been captured and Brig. Patrick Kankiriho has vowed "my aim is to accomplish my mission and I will do it. We shall get him." Go Patrick. Another operation has been launced to "apprehend or kill" Joseph Kony, this time with the help of American forces...

Just beat me to it (not that I was in any way checking out the DDP site to see if my fragile lead was affected). I was struggling to resist the urge to post "BREAKING NEWS - DUNN DIES", so I'm glad someone got there first.

Oh dear, that doesn't look good at all. This is one of my favourite DL threads and I hope Mindy McCready is around to entertain us for many years to come.

According to my profile, it has been viewed 1222 times! I'm sure it was nowhere near that last time I looked. I think I might have been viewed about 200 times in a couple of weeks. Is someone stalking me? I feel violated.

A practically bankrupt Kettering will be forced to use youth players to fulfill their fixture against Grimsby tomorrow. I would suggest that everybody puts their house on Grimsby winning. I have, nearly.

Nice story here about the fortunes of Latin American leaders who are suffering cancer. Things aren't looking too good for Alberto Fujimori

I do want to read this book, so I thought Ronnie would approve if I broke in to my local WHSmiths at the dead of night, removed the book (and possibly any banknotes I could find), bludgeoned a security guard and then fled to Brazil to read my ill gotten gains on a beach. But seriously, best wishes to the man and thanks very much for the DL plug, I hope he proves us wrong for a good few years yet.

President Bingu Wa Mutharika of Malawi, mentioned several times before on this thread, has been forced to deny rumours that he is dead. He is currently "on holiday" in Hong Kong. There are some brilliant comments in that article. It's odd to see the English language used in conjunction with something completely different. For example:
