Summer Olympic Deaths/Dead Medallists
DevonDeathTrip replied to Stayin Alive's topic in DeathList Forum
2004 Athens Olympic silver medalist in judo, Claudia Heill, from Austria, has leapt to her death from a sixth floor window, landing in this newly created thread. -
Somehow this thread has reminded me of the video Soul Asylum made in 1993 for ' ', which featured youngsters who had disappeared. I watched it again to see if any of the vanished people had ever turned up. Sadly, according to Google, the vast majority of them were never found. Two of those who were eventually located, were Dinah McNicol and Vicky Hamilton, both victims of the serial killer Peter Tobin. Another person in the video, Louise Kay, is also suspected to have been murdered by him.

Jose Alencar, the Vice President of Brazil, is suffering from abdominal cancer.
-
Don't know about that, bear in mind that the teams in second and third place picked Jose Alencar and Diana Wynne-Jones as well. It's not a lone breakaway and I don't think we've built up a big enough lead to get away from the pelaton. It's also worth bearing in mind that Daniel Faraday's Notebook (aka Garn 2) has got that bishop who told everyone he had a few weeks to live, er, a few weeks ago, so he could be going in to the lead any day now (I'm sooo jealous of that pick btw, I always fancied myself as the clerics expert round here ). Dr McPherson is still getting out and about rather too much for my liking as well.

Come on obituary!! ...er, but RIP and that. Hmmm. I wonder if this would count? (I love giving TMIB these conundrums to ponder over )

Jose Alencar is back in hospital and in a critical condition It really doesn't look very good for him, but I'm still not too confident about his UK obit chances. He would probably have got one if he was still the incumbent Vice President.... however his term of office expired on new Years Day. Could eighteen Derby Deadpoolers all be wrong? Whatever, I've decided to create a thread for him before it's too late.

Brazilian model/actress Cibele Dorsa has committed suicide, aged 36, by jumping out of her 7th floor apartment window. Why this thread? She was JFK's widow's second husband's grandaughter's husband's ex-wife .

Dead. That'll be a unique pick on the DDP for A Pelican In The Wilderness, if she gets a UK obit. Isn't she on my DDP? Ah sorry. I'll plead temporary insanity/blindness for that one.

The death of Diana Wynne Jones today prompted me to check Facebook page of Sara Douglass, another fantasy author (and a pick on my DPP team). She's still well enough to keep us informed of her health and gave this snippet of info last week. Given how prolific she has been in the past, she could be in pretty dire straits if she doesn't think it's worth starting another piece of work.

Over four years on and all nine of Banshees Scream's bold predicitions remain obstinately still alive . However General Jaruzelski is in hospital yet again with heart problems and might do well to see 2011, let alone 2012... Now General Jaruzelski is back in hospital with pleurisy. It wont kill him, but these things just keep adding up. The pleurisy might not kill him, but the cancer probably will.

Nelson Mandela. I had a dream.

Great thread Betty Sarah Wouk, 90, the wife and literary agent of Herman Wouk has died aged 90. Will her 96 year old widower survive the loss? Time will tell....
-
John Edrich, obviously.
-
Thread reopened to say that I did pick her: But in my haste to vote, I clicked the "view results" button instead of "vote". Sorry about that. Thread closed again.

The Pacific island nation of Niue has issued an unconventional Royal Wedding stamp, in which the happy couple can be conveniently split up.

I picked the late and mystifyingly unlamented Josefa Iloilo. Even though he didn't get any UK obit action, I feel that I should get points anyway. He was a former President after all and I can hardly be held responsible for the media's complete ignorance of the goings on in the South Seas. Someone needs to take a stand, NAP.

Ideas And Possibilities For 2012

Musical entertainer Roger Williams, "Pianist To The Presidents", 86, is suffering from pancreatic cancer. -
Elizabeth Taylor. Over a month in hospital with congestive heart failure, she could be coming out in a coffin.
-
I wonder if he'll qualify for an unnatural death bonus? Even though he was suffering from metastatic stomach cancer, an autopsy has revealed he died due to accidental causes when an air embolism occurred following the removal of a catheter.

Country singer Ferlin Husky has been hospitalised suffering from congestive heart failure and pneumonia. His 1954 single "The Drunk Driver" about an intoxicated man who runs over his two children, is considered to be one of the most miserable songs of all time. This awful accident occurred on the 20th day of May And caused two little children to be sleepin' beneath the clay These two little kids walked side by side along the state highway Their poor old mother, she had died And their daddy had ran away As these two little children walked arm in arm How sad their hearts did feel When around the curb came a speeding car With a drunk man at the wheel The drunk man saw the little kids And he hollered a drunked sound "Get out of the road you little fools" And the car, it brought them down The bumper struck the little girl, takin' her life away While the little boy, in a puddle of blood In the ditch, lyin' there did lay The drunk man staggered from his car To see the damage that he had done And then he let out a yell you could hear for miles When he recognized his dyin' son

Balls! I've only just realised he wasn't on my 2011 DDP team. I thought I'd extended my lead and was feeling all smug for about thirty seconds.

Ferlin Husky is now under hospice care. As well as his chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder and congestive heart failure, he is also suffering from colon cancer.

From The National Enquirer, the hardly earth shattering news that nearly nonogenerian Nancy is becoming a bit forgetful in her dotage.
