She has her own Wikipedia page which is the criteria I use to accept Wildcard entries (albeit shared with her husband). I let a rookie player off with Josie Cunnigham last year and another player complained (only because in previous years I have changed the rules to stop him picking Prince George)

I was in the 85% and was happy in my ignorance and then one of my colleagues played her as a wildcard for my works game so I have had to take an interest. Still think she barely scrapes above the fame parapet (imo).

Who Do You Think Will Win The Democrat And Republican Nominations?
Bibliogryphon replied to Bibliogryphon's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I think the establishment will do everything they can to keep Bush in the race.I think John Kasich should go because I can't even picture him. Followed by Chris Christie after New Hampshire. -
Shame we don't give bonus pts for honesty (and,no, I'm not going down that slippery slope of Hollywood Squares/porn/dead on a Friday complications). Thanks That is right keep the Deathrace pure.

I would argue that Maggie Smith and Judy Dench don't belong in this list at all and would probably be best off in the British Character Actor's thread. Yes they do films but they have made their biggest contributions on the stage or in TV dramas (or comedies) and low budget British Films.

Just noticed a minor error in the Master list: Yasihiro Nakamatsue – bg, cc, di, sc, um Yasuhiro Nakasone - bg, um according to my records I did pick the former Japanese PM but I did not pick the US classical pianist who is actually called (Jon) Yasuhiro Nakamatsu. I didn't want anyone to think I am cheating if they both went in quick succession.

The EU Referendum Hokey Cokey
Bibliogryphon replied to YoungWillz's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
A lot of people who are anti-EU seem to think that by leaving we will regain the status we had in days of empire. We are a small country who have always punched above our weight but there are countries coming up who would dwarf us. If we applied our talents (which we have many of) to really become part of the EU the EU would emerge stronger and could take its place alongside the US, Russia and China when talking about World solutions. I would also like to point out that I would probably lose my job if we left the EU or it would be seriously diminished. -
MK before you submit a post do you even read it back or are you posting from an arcane device that randomly deletes capital letters and put spurious letters into people's names?

I picked Gene Wilder because he does seem to be suffering from something.

The EU Referendum Hokey Cokey
Bibliogryphon replied to YoungWillz's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I am a firm believer in the European Union but agree that it needs improving. However I am torn because Cameron has massively cocked up the renegotiation as RA so beautifully described it. However people should be aware this referendum is not about the renegotiation but about membership of the EU and being at the heart of an institution which makes decisions on trade which we will need to follow whether we are in or not. -

I once bit into a Kit-Kat and found a piece of plastic. As I was at work I was in half a mind to put it into the FTIR to identify the type but I just sent it to Nestle with the wrapper. They replied that they had conducted a thorough investigation and found that it was a piece of plastic and they had no idea how it got there. They did send me £15 though. -
Who Do You Think Will Win The Democrat And Republican Nominations?

I have been suspicious of Cruz for a while and thought that Trump was maybe his fall guy. Mouthed off to the press and appeared obnoxious so that Cruz looked less extreme but politically they seem to inhabit the same ground. Nigel Farage and David Cameron pulled a similar trick in the UK last May. -
Remember The Bismarck! Sink Pearl Harbour! Der Totale Banzai!
Bibliogryphon replied to Shroud's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Am I missing something? If I were to make a list of the posters on here who are most likely to be rude, offensive or just irritatingly arrogant, Toast would be way, way down the list. I think of them as one of the more considerate posters which means if you have manager to piss them off to the extent they will respond with a less than polite retort then you probably deserve it. In the years I have been posting here I have mostly been met with polite discourse. OK I have been insulted by Dr Zorders and Tempus Fugit but I think most regular posters can claim the same. -
My opinion of The One Show is it is like That's Life with the backbone removed.

It is not about the rules. It is the principle of it! Two of the deaths which gained points have had their names coded so they don't turn up on search engines! What does this prove? It proves that even the organiser of the DDP knows things have gone too far, and that the rules need to be fixed to bring the game back to something which it used to be! Either that or he should uncode the names, and take the consequences of running a dead pool that accepts that sort of thing. TMIB has tightened the rules but the current climate of 24 hour news and lazy journalism by social media means that these individually very tragic cases get propelled into a mawkish sense of national hand wringing. I do not think it is fair to suggest that TMIB takes the rap for someone else's unscrupulous picks. I know I am never going to win if these are the types of picks that are going to win it but the world changes and we must accept that or we end up like a mad old hermit railing at the dying of the light.

But we are building up a bit of a backlog of ex-presidents, vice presidents and first and second ladies. We need to clear a few of them out before we start discussing Obama as a serious DL candidate. -

I think the character Otto says a line very close to that in A Fish Called Wanda. -
BBC coverage of Ed Stewart's funeral. Mike Read looks OK but Anita Harris is channeling her June Brown look.

Who Do You Think Will Win The Democrat And Republican Nominations?
Bibliogryphon replied to Bibliogryphon's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Thank you Shroud for the in-depth analysis. Is there a genuine moderate Republican candidate who could seriously take votes off Hilary if needed to. From what we see in the UK someone like Chris Christie seemed to have the right credentials but his star has faded somewhat in the past few months. -
Wogan's death is not bigger than Bowie. Otherwise I agree with your post. He's one of the three people who I will never pick for my DDP teams (Grace Slick and June Whitfield are the other two). Perhaps I should have picked him, he'd have lasted longer then... I think YIA was pertaining to the UK for the biggest hit? I quite agree with that. Bowie was universal but Wogan was utterly integral to our society, a true broadcasting legend that reached the public in a bigger way than Bowie did. His Radio 2 shows attracted millions, his TV shows ditto and his audience was all ages and all walks of life. His like wont be seen again. I did think for a while Jonathon Ross was (in his own mind) aiming for the Terry Wogan mantle but he rather let himself down and was far too interested in himself rather than the people he was talking to. Graham Norton has inherited some of Terry's actual roles but he does alienate quite a few people. People underestimate the ability Terry had for being apparently very at ease and making his guests likewise.
