28 Years Of The Deathlist!
Bibliogryphon replied to themaninblack's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
She died on my 28th birthday and we didn't find our until lunchtime because it was a Sunday and no reason to turn the telly on. My Brother in law phoned up and assumed we already knew. Watched the rest of the days coverage though. Hilarious Peter Sissons/Jennie Bond moment late on in the afternoon. -
I now have 15 teams and am just about to go on holiday when I will be out of Deathlist circulation. I will be back in time to get those last few teams from those who have not yet sent their teams Lardy, LFN, Dr Z etc You have 11 days until the deadline. On 01st July I will share the top picks and then a full list a few days later. Great picking and get settled down for a long wait.

the whole article doesn't even mention his other movies just his minor role in Harry Potter My son who is 6 knows him from the animated version of Lord of The Rings as the voice of Aragorn / Strider, from Doctor Who as the War Doctor, and also from the Harry Potter movies. Mind you, all fans can be so myopic. I remember when Geoffrey Hughes died, some places had him "best remembered for his role in Doctor Who". A role which took up a whole two episode. No one watched Corrie, Heartbeat or the internationally renowned Keeping up Appearances there, I take it! Genre roles can often be quite long lived as the fans tend to be quite obsessive. However even within the SF/Fantasy genre John Hurt has a rich range of credits Doctor Who. Merlin, Alien, HP, 1984, Indiana Jones

I agree with the 'hurry up and die' comments are distasteful and not necessary. With the exception of our esteemed late ambassador Ronnie Biggs, who enjoyed his time being on here, how many celebs actually visit deathlist? It's unlikely they would ever see the comments. So far as I know from asking people more up to speed than myself when I meet them at DLCons, virtually no celebs visit and those minor ones who do - like BBC newsperson Eddie Mair - aren't usually the ones we're discussing. Are you suggesting that the presenter of BBC Radio 4's flagship early evening news programme PM is a minor celebrity and not a deity of journalism?

You beat me to it! Here is an Aussie report: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-06-17/former-athlete-gold-coast-mayor-ron-clarke-dies/6552010 I like your report better, I put the UK one because it literally came up as I hit the page, and there might have been a DDP hit (he isn't). Cheers. This is a huge death for Australia as he was very popular back in his day. We are having quite an epic death year down under so far with Malcolm Fraser, Joan Kirner, Betty Churcher, Alan Bond, Ritchie Benaud, Stuart Wagstaff and Alan Seymour all gone before we are even half way through the year! Time for you Poms to start pulling your weight by having some major deaths of your own. Like Christopher Lee, Terry Pratchett, Ron Moody, Leon Brittan & Charles Kennedy -

I was wondering if Tories might try to sabotage the vote by paying £3 each and voting in huge numbers for Corbyn. If this happened in conjunction with a leftie online campaign for Corbyn, it might be doable. . It would make the Government's next 5 years much easier if they were up against him. Ah, in America it's called "ratfucking". It's generally beleived that Nixon did something like that to have an easy opponent in 1972. Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill did the same in her election in 2012 and was successful in getting a nutjob opponent she managed to defeat easily (Todd Akin). I was in New Hampshire in the run up to the primaries in 2012 and all the Democrat supporters that I was talking to were voting for Rick Santorum because they though Obama would wipe the floor with him. -
I never did get that cheque. He might have left you something in his will. I imagine the staff at Deathlist Towers are feeling pretty smug now. This was another one that was off my radar and I did not support the inclusion of. Congrats to the committee.

I do not think that it would make the government job easier whilst in office but it would probably increase thier chances of winning in 2020. Corbyn would call everything without fear of what the public would think. They would probably oust him in 2018 and Dan Jarvis would take over. -

I remember being very upset about the death of Deryck Guyler from Sykes and the Blue Peter cat. -
I thought we had a Luvvies thread but a basic search does not bring it up. With the recent deaths of Richard Johnson and Nigel Terry I began to think about the actors I have seen playing Shakespearean roles on stage (mostly at the RSC) not all of them are those you would automatically think of as Luvvies so I have created a list of twenty anti-luvvies who I have seen perform in the theatre but are much better known for their TV & film work. Derrick Griffiths (Heads & Tails/Play School) Paul Greenwood (Rosie/Captain Zep Space Detective) Patricia Routledge (Keeping Up Appearances) Stephen Boxer (Moon cat) Robert Lindsay (My Family/Citizen Smith) Freddie Jones (Emmerdale/Ghosts of Motely Hall) Alex Kingston (ER/Doctor Who) Julie Walters (Everything) Clifford Rose (Secret Army) Bernard Hill (Boys from the Blackstuff/Titanic) Anna Carteret (Juliet Bravo) Tim McInerey (Blackadder) Haydn Gwynne (Drop The Dead Donkey) Caroline Blakiston (Return of the Jedi) James Fleet (The Vicar of Dibley) Richard Wilson (One Foot in the Grave) Gemma Jones (Duchess of Duke Street) Monica Dolan (Appropriate Adult) Hugh Bonneville (W1A/Downton Abbey) Stella Gonet (House of Elliott) A couple of these are worth keeping an eye on but Nigel Terry was much younger than many of them.

Drugs kill. Guess they never got the memo. Perhaps they did get it, but couldn't read it. or he just wanted to demonstrate his drug skill

According to the clinic he has just gone for a little rest. (In peace?) -
Services to being awesome, more like. I have a fgreat deal of respect for Mr Bond but the performance of my teams this year has been disappointing. He is just an easy target for my wrath. Not just Paddington but Olga da Polga. That's the trouble with a theme team though, no? Most of them are old but otherwise in decent health. Last I heard of Mr Bond, he was still quite active. Mind you, so was Ruth Rendell. Peter Dickinson (b 1927, writer of The Changes) might be a decent shot at a unique for 2016 if you still run that theme team, mind. That was someone who isn't on my radar. I will investigate and might inlcude them. many thanks.

Sadly can't see him getting to the second round let alone winning the thing. This is it. The ballot paper will contain four names. With One Member, One Vote on an alternative vote basis. There is no electoral college. Jeremy has the advantage of being different. It is impossible to put a sweet wrapper between the other three candidates positions. If you were just electing a leader of the opposition then Jeremy would be the best but I do not think he will be considered as Prime Minister material by most of the country. -
Cause of death is being described as CJD.

Jeremy Corbyn manages to get enough nominations to get on to the leadership ballot paper. It cost £3 to become an affiliate member of the Labour party and thereby be eligible to vote in the election. -
is that because Lee was a tory supporter or what? No, it's because a vampire's image doesn't show in a mirror. He who takes something apart to find out what it is has left the path of wisdom. I think Gandalf said something like that to Saruman (keep it topical) but the thing it applies most to is.... .... A Joke

Maybe his support for the Conservative party helped his portrayal of an evil bloodsucker - some people can take method acting too far.
