Hehe, if it's a son, they'll call him Duncan or Malcolm. Seriously don't rule out James....

This headline in the Daily Mirror annoyed me. This is scaremongering at its worst AS has frequently said iScotland would still have the Queen as head of state. Is anyone placing bets on new Royal baby being called Elizabeth if it is a girl?

The early ones are good, I got as far as "Men At Arms" before I gave up on them. You may have given in a little early Masquerade is brilliant and Carpe Jugulum is worth mentioning just because if you read it now you would think that it is taking the piss out of Twilight but the fact that this book was written before Twilight was published means that I don't think Stephanie Myers (or her editors) can read a lot of Pratchett. I haven't bothered to read any Pratchett for ages, around about the same time that I gave up on Pratchett was when I started to get in to Robert Rankin, and Christopher Moore. I tried Rankin and started with The Brentford Triangle. I struggled to the end and didn't read any more but sold the trilogy for a tidy sum on ebay.

Just read an article saying that if the independance vote is a Yes result David Cameron should resign. He has already said that he would not resign but if enough people think he would have to would this be an incentive to vote Yes?

BBC to adapt Good Omens for radio.

A 'Yes' vote up here and you are fucked for eternity We would actually move into quite an unreal situation. Scottish independance would not actually occur until 2016 but the election would happen in 2015. It is possible that Ed Milliband might end up leading the UK with a majority shored up by Scottish Consituencies but come 2016 he might lose his majority.

Joan was vitriolic but she saved the worst of her comments for herself. Maybe she didn't consider Milla worth commenting on - that would be the real hurt. In the UK the cinema release of Shrek 2 replaced Joan with some local non-entity assuming that Britsh Audiences wouldn't know who she was. They also replaced Larry King with Jonathon Ross. Please....

Fortunate really as I posted that at 12.15 BST. But it comes out an hour before as the posting time. 11.15. - Why is that?

Sam Simon? It is actaully Steve Backshall and whilst he is poncing around with a fake tan he won't be heading off into the wilderness of Steve Irwin land.

Bowie was apparently happily on stage with Kate Bush at her comeback concert today so maybe he isn't the tax exile in question either... That was just a rumour that somebody put on Twitter. What that he was on stage with Bush or that he was the tax exile? I just saw him as one of the three rock acts on the list of the top ten British tax exiles linked upthread so he was a possible suspect. That he was on stage with Bush. He's still very much a possibility, then... Well his sex life has not been entirely straight forward has it?

I was away when Richard Attenborough died and I was convinced that he was on the list. I think this should go alongside Tony Benn and The General as the three big misses of the year but in my opinion I had Lauren Bacall down as a survivor so that is one i didn't expect to go in 2014. I take it that unlike the Bank of England Monetary Policy committee the Deathlist committee do not publish their minutes so the public can scrutinize the decision making and voting.

I did think it was rather sporting of Dickie to drop dead just before a bank holiday allowing editors to use all that pre-written copy to fill the pages on which are often awkward slow news days.

Just opened the September edition of Chemistry World and there is an obituary for Lord Lewis (1928-2014) second oldest surviving RSC president. He was knighted in 1982 and entered the House of Lords in 1989. I have updated the above list. -
He is on stage tomorrow night at the Royal Festival Hall. Where I hope someone will present him with the Worst Deathlist pick 2014 award. And there has been some stiff competition.....

A link or supporting evidence would be nice. Nothing on his official website. Tried reading Duncton Wood once but gave up.

It seems he was shot by his lover (who he lived with) and his lover was also his son-in-law. Nowt so queer as folk. Except queer folk.
