There has been a lot of interest in Thatcher's first cabinet but with the recent death of Lord Archer (Peter, Unfortunately) this brings down to single figures those who were two swords lengths away in Michael Foot's Shadow cabinet. Denis Healey (b.1917) Roy Hattersley (b.1932) Gerald Kaufmann (b.1930) Roy Mason (b.1924) Neil Kinnock (b.1942) Bruce Millan (b.1927) William Rodgers (b.1928) Tony Benn (b. 1925) John Morris (b 1931) All will be obit worthy!

Are we drawing to the end on an (V)era?
-
The wrong Duckworth selected for the list?
-
Are we moving into the endgame ? The judge seems to think this can be reviewed in six months and therefore takes no consideration of our list. Who do you trust Husband or Daughter?

Be very careful! Last yeat a group of us all joined hands and willed for the Death of Thatch and what happened?.... Janet Brown died!

Think really really hard about Margaret Thatcher! On an empty stomach you want me to think of her?? That's downright cruel. What next, Madeline Albright? "Yes" (In Creepy Voice) "Together"

I got 5 too I only knew the sex pistols one and new look one. I got 10. This is quite tricky! -
A Higgs Bosun particle walks into the church and the priest says “You can’t come in here”, so the particle says……………………………………………”Well you can’t have Mass without me”

They can't have been that well or they'd still be alive : ) The nature of a list will naturally depend on the people who are compiling it. I agree that there should be a minimum level of fame but that bar can be quite low. If you read the obituaries in a quality newspaper than normally if there are four entries three of them I will not know who they are. However I will read them and learn. What the Deathlist provides is an opportunity for people with wide and varied experiences to pool their knowledge and predictions and come up with a better model collectively than an individual may acheive on their own. When I looked at the list for 2012 there were people I did not know such as James Randi but I accept their inclusion. I keep a database of about 900 celebrity names as DL possibilities but when I show other people the list they say "who is....?". The area I do struggle with is sportsmen unless they are recognisable making the front page of the paper (Beckham, Kelly Holmes, Chris Hoy, Andy Murray) I am a bit hopeless. I think this may have gone a bit off topic!

1998 is looking good to clear first, with 2003 close behind!

This is sad news as I thought he was wonderful but it did get me thinking! James Grout played Mr Butterbur, who as you all know is the innkeeper at the Prancing Pony in Bree, in the Radio 4 adaptation of Lord of the Rings. With the exception of the hobbits (Ian Holm, Bill Nighy, Richard McCabe) most of the major cast members are no longer with us (Michael Horden, Robert Stephens, Jack May, John Le Messurier) when I get some time I might check out the full cast and update!

I am going for Zsa Zsa. I think it is going to be one of the big ones who have been teasing for a while so I agonized between ZZG, Maggie and Mandela. For the 7th death I was split between Bob Godfrey and Eric Sykes and went the wrong way. You can't win them all!

Apprently it was Sir Robert Mark who advertised the tyres and he is already dead but I was thinking of John Stalker. I think inlcuding Police officers is a fair call as long as they have obtained a high profile recognition for their role or perhaps notoriety.

They should have used the one Tolkien wrote! -
What about Policeman who become household names like the bloke whose name I can't remember but was convinced it was a major contribution to road safety! There are other Metropoliton Police Comissioners who get a lot of press and don't forget Brian Paddick although he might be in a number of different threads. Sorry this looks like rambling - not really with it!!!

Well going with Mubarak didn't work so I going back to the system that netted me Ray Bradbury. I am going for Bob Godfrey - just feels right.

OOOH this is fun. We seem to be snowballing to include all the peripheral Supermarianation hangers on. I will raise again the question I previously included in the Australians thread. How old is Don Spencer? - who sang the Fireball XL5 theme tune. Join in everyone "If I were a Spaceman on Fireball XL5......"

I hope they kept tabs on Prince Philip during the visit. Whilst all that hand shaking was going on he might have nipped out back and cut the brake cables on Martin's car. "That's for you Cousin Louis!" -
CZJ and her offspring (Laugh manically with a Welsh accent!)

Just been on Wikipedia and looked up Don Spencer - Australian, Play School presenter, singer of Fireball XL5 theme tune and Russel Crow's Father-in-Law but it does not say what year he was born. Could be one to watch if we can find any information on him.

Not dead just in the same condition as Ariel Sharon and has been since 1990 (1966?)

Not sure I would agree with you but I did suggest to a colleague that "No Jacket Required" was more enjoyable to listen to than "The White Album" and I have never heard the last of it! -
You missed out David Brierly, who did the voice of K9 for one season after John Leeson quit. He died about 5 years ago I did say that I wasn't going to get into the cannonical quibble but I decided not to include David Brierly because John Leeson is K-9. I didn't include Hamish Wilson either.
