In my sig I think it's Bronn who says it, though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13CSWRyaAgA Thank you - always a treat! How many people spot that it's Jerome of Robson and Jerome, I wonder. This much my addled (and clearly of a certain vintage) brain did note. I thought he was rather better in this than that (or soldier soldier), although that may be influenced by the material .

In my sig I think it's Bronn who says it, though. Fair enough and Willz did the work to find it.. Never found a cure for my shitty memory either . The sentiment is the same though, and whilst Ulliott may on occasion have been quite witty and amusing as noted by Vicky Coren and Padraig Parkinson, he was still a cunt.

A man and his ever-nagging wife went on holiday to Jerusalem, Whilst they were there the wife passed away. The undertaker gave the husband two financial options:- "You can have her shipped home for £5,000, or you can bury her here in the Holy Land for £150". The man thought about it for a second and then told the undertaker he would pay to have her shipped home. The undertaker was a little surprised at this and asked:- "Why would you spend £5,000 to have her shipped home when it would be wonderful to be buried here for just £150?" The man replied "Long ago a man died here, was buried here, and three days later he rose from the dead. I just can't take that chance".

If 5/50 is "not bad", then what do you call my 2/50? No, must fight it, no, I can't, not again, no, no. I swore no more terrible jokes. Argh it's no use... bad. gah.

Yes, and for my money one more to add to Stephen Fry's list of "Why there is no god". Not wishing to stir up one of the 3 "stay off this topic" subjects particularly, but really.

Only if she died a non-ironic death. Entirely possible, I'd imagine most people have seen this, but in case you haven't, Ed Byrne explains irony to Alanis.

Firm believer in innocent until proven guilty, it's the only possible way that even approaches fair. But there comes a point even for me where sheer number of accusations starts to look incriminating. "His lawyer is denying ever single one of the accusations - he started at half past nine this morning and was still going at teatime"

Statistics. The point is not perhaps so much that they die in "the" year they aren't on the list but more "a" year they aren't. CBA to do the sums on this particularly, but it's the same sort of thing that makes it apparently weird that it only takes 23 people in a room for it to be 50/50 on two of them having the same birthday.

As opposed to just putting it in there. Yes, yes, I was just leaving.

Vagrants, Tramps, Homeless Eccentrics And Hermits

It's always been a mystery to me why the nation and its media cannot show a bit more interest in such people before they die and perhaps ensure they are not homeless. NB. you still have teletext? Crikey. -
On the topic of companies extracting the piddle. Sainsbury's have a 4 quid metal champagne/fizz stopper (probably about a quid to make, but anyway). There is also a neatly packaged Vacu de Vin or w/e it is in a box for 8.50 but the picture on the box isn't terribly helpful. Sooooo I tried to look in the box, no they sealed it with that sellotape stuff, ok, sod this, arrest me if you like, I picked off the tape and looked inside, yep, identical. No wonder they put it in a sealed box. Brand names eh?

If you missed the eclipse, here's a trick from an old Blue Peter, cut a piece of circular cardboard 5ft in diameter, cover it in sticky backed plastic, get some friends to stand on a ladder 50ft away and slowly slide it in front of the sun. Don't forget to use a safety glass and be safe out there kiddies. GET DOWN Shep! I'll get my coat.

This news follows previous speculation about the Oba's predicament: Nice turn of phrase, I'll have to see if I can slip that into a conversation sometime. "Me gran used to know about that kind of thing, just a sec dear, I'll give her a bell...." I'll just fucking bet it was an exclusive.

What? There are some serious Bennys out there. Seems perfectly clear to me. Please send me a bottle of whatever you're having, it must be superior to anything I can get my hands on.
-
snip Yeah this I'd imagine. Gain perhaps a little if you win, maybe lose a lot (or at least get somewhat mocked) if you come nowhere, which may well be due to political factors rather than your song/performance/talent. Why risk it?

It is a one off to celebrate the 60th contest. Apparently it is popular in Australia. Well pass me a vegemite sandwich. -

Well Israel have been in it 37 times....but Australia truly banishes the geography to the dustbin really. -
Yeah pretty much been a token gesture rather than a serious intent to take over responsibility in that sad eventuality, or even teach the word of god, in my experience. Which admittedly is thin, since I am an atheist and so are all my friends from the local church.

Not to mention that that very remoteness rather makes a mockery of "Euro"vision song contest, at least if not technically in Europe most have been geographically close. Not that it has ever been much more than a thinly veiled exercise in politics anyway imo. As alluded to above with the local neighbours thing. reference -
The first part I get, as far as I know there are no real limits to numbers of godparents per child or the number of people one can be godparent to, but ok you got me phantom, what's an honorary god parent? Seriously, never heard of it. American thing? Somebody who's an atheist?

What is going on is whatever is keeping your addled brain whirring at 2:37 am. Moot point, since for SC it wasn't 2:37am, it was anywhere between 4:37pm and 9:37pm depending upon his precise location (not allowing for any local daylight saving times that are due around now which I cba to look up). That's the internerd for you, people posting from just anywhere....
