Yeah but it only took Denmark to score one against Serbia, and we'd have been facing Germany and that whole half with France and Portugal was it? Oh, well, I'd rather be lucky than good. And no, I still know nothing much about football, but one gets swept up in this stuff.

I wouldn't worry about it, I've been here since what feels like before the dawn of history and I still don't have a clue about most of them.

I thought we were all coming here to shout at each other instead? On the basis that would be far more interesting. Dorries? Jesus...

They're all obfuscating. Tax is going up. All I care about is exactly where.

Political Discussions And Ranting Thread
En Passant replied to Deathray's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Here's an FT journalist being interviewed on a money podcast type of thing who thinks any party is going to have their work cut out after the election (amongst other topics). I found it interesting - It is however, over an hour long . Though in my opinion worth the time. (Martin Wolf is Chief Economics Commentator at the Financial Times) -
I'm proud of myself. I managed to get put on pre-mod by The Guardian by coming home pissed as a rat on Thursday (No, I'm not Oliver Reed, George Best or Charles Kennedy, it's one night a week after pool, and only sometimes :P) and continually complaining in some random "Comment is Free" section (where they had actually opened the comments for once), that it was in actuality anything but 'free' and that any comment even mildly critical of their reporting or implying they had an agenda was immediately censored. They publish loads of clickbait and agenda driven garbage and will brook absolutely zero criticism of it. I'm off to search a better way of jumping the FT's paywall. Or just use the bbc (with all it's faults) or The Canary or something, more research required. Probably should post this in some other thread but cba to decide where. Forgive me.

What are your hobbies/talents?
En Passant replied to Master Obit's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I used to be able to fly a plane. Well, I probably still can, but the licence is long expired. Absolutely zero talents of any description, I can do that Spock thing with my left hand but not my right, and that's about it. Utterly unskilled in any way beyond that. -

Ah, thanks for that. I couldn't remember him in the Soprano's at all. It's a dream-sequence which will be why - I pretty much always skip those on anything I re-watch (or at least ff if I need reminding of the gist). -

Jot him down as missing in action and once we find him we can write that he's been found here or scribble a short note on a post-it to remind us to do so. (That's enough biro puns - ed)

They can put an age restriction of 150 on that and I won't complain.

I guess this is a reasonable point, apart from the usual unneccessary insults. One can easily imagine kids wanting to ride motorbikes, however, the accompanying photo is the thing that is a bit of a shocker to me, it looks like full leathers and a bloody fast racing bike in the background, I can get my head around 9 year olds on mini monkey bike type motorbikes, but something like a moto GP thing capable of 100+? Not so much. I know I'd rather have my 9 year old on a motorbike (though a 'little' one not bloody motoGP) than learning how (or in this case how not) to shoot a fucking Uzi. Which is from a while back in weird American behaviours.

I predict the grim reaper is going to confound sceptics and be its most powerful yet like a super strong enema in 2024 moreso than recent years equalling or even beating 2020

I know the place we are in. However, providing it doesn't mean ridiculous pain for the recipient, this is a bad thing? -

And I'd say that Indy one is also conflating the two somehow it's saying "74" - which tallies with the American comedians birthdate of 1947, and whilst I can't find a birthdate for the british actor, that would have made him around 48-50 when appearing in Lock Stock, which I'd hazard is pushing it somewhat, I'd have said he was 35 maybe 40 absolute tops in that.

Nor me really, but from my extensive experience of finding it unavoidable (and latterly even a passing interest in some of it...) Home Nation = Any 1 of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland (but not the Irish Republic) Cap = played for them once. And that can include subbed on and played for only seconds. Football = soccer not rugby football or any other kind Simply: Any UK footballer who ever played, even for a second, for their national team. I think, anyway. Considering entering this time myself, so unutterably happy to accept corrections to this from any sports afficionado's.
