kebabs?* No need to apologise that I can see. The revolving door isn't mentioned nearly enough by most politicians of any flavour. *sorry yes, a spieling lame.

I'd vote for that. My problem with the whole debate thing is it probably favours those with a knack for public speaking and quick responses whether those are due to masses of pre-prepared answers or merely being quick-witted on the fly. It doesn't tell us who has the better policies we are seeking. Those are mostly known beforehand anyway and are in my opinion better delievered in a format we can pore over and come to our own conclusions. The idea of 5 years of governance by whoever has the better sound bite on any given day is scary. Shouting matches don't interest me any more than vox-pops do, so I don't watch them.

Cunt fuck prick shit and wanker are ok, but v-i-a-g-r-a gets translated to 'SPAM'? Still, I suppose I can see the objection to trademark names. -

I don't often. Wasn't letting this one go though. You're just collatera da, sorry, COLLATERAL DAMAGE. And that's a reply to him that has fk all to do with me! Am I just about to mute him as you unmute? I was going to unite us, by finally blocking the berk. Oh well.

If only there were any teachers in this place who fancied weighing in on that (heh, I'm not namechecking you, though it was close but ultmately decided "no-fair" ) Not going to matter what they think in a month is it?
-
Says who? You? Are these parents going to pay for them? Yeah right dump it on the teachers, they don't have anything better to do. I knew it was a mistake engaging in a discussion with you, you're now typing so fast your spell checker can't keep up. Mea Culpa. @TQR Close, so close .
-
Can you point me to a definitive source that that is the case? You know, a bit beyond 'it sounds like', I know I'm being nit-picky here but well, you have previous for not differentiating between, 'this is the case' and 'I think'. The above aside, and if indeed it is the case, where's the problem? There's enough of a market if all the kids currently with phones have to have them replaced - for companies to make them if legislated. I did, and there were no phone boxes on the route. (yes yes I know, 'back when I were a lad' and all that). Whatever else happens that's not coming back.
-
The companies don't have to as such, just make such facilities as the law denies unavailable via software locks then the legal onus is on the parent. The makers won't care as they will cost the same and they make the same profit. The parents will pay the same as they do currently. I'm no smartphone guru, but the cheap ones probably cost about the same to manufacture as a non-smart one anyway today. If a non-smart one is still cheaper to make and the numbers were sufficient, they'd make them. Whether all that is enforcible in practice is another matter. Over-stretched police hunting down teens with 'unlocked' phones and taking the time to prosecute the parents over them seems to me to just add to an existing problem of expending the limited resources in the wrong place.
-
If they'd taken that stance in 2010 they'd be much better off today, come to think of it so would we.

Well, I've considered it for Crem, but he's really the only one that isn't even amusing or informative in some way except once in a blue moon and the background white noise of the rest of it drowns those out pretty effectively anyway. (that's the exceedingly rare informative ones, he's never been amusing). Uli and especially SC can be so blunt they just crack me up even if I completely disagree with them, so never even considered it. I can take daft, incomprehensible or even rude, what truly gets me close to the mute button is 'boring'. But maybe that's just me. And in this case, if you and I hadn't taken the time to look up his 'sources' and discover his perfidy regarding the actual content, who else was? Or would have? I don't think things of that nature should go unchallenged. If we'd not seen it, we couldn't have. And yes, it's in one thread and easy to avoid if needed.
-
In my case because he's been here a long time and prior to the pandemic wasn't the one trick pony he has since become. Hence my sporadic requests that he goes back to contributing on other topics and let this one alone - unheeded though they seem to have been - his call. Also, I'm not keen on muting people. Even if they are a bit barking. That ones on me though .

Telegraph appear to be the first of major outlets. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/06/09/body-found-search-dr-michael-mosley/ (paywalled). Edit: Sun / Sky etc. now. So PA reuters or whoever have it. Took a while, have to see why.
-
Which seems to me also to be a completely understandable timeline. The only thing confounding me is why can't they find him? There's reportedly been over 100 people searching for him - that's 1 person every 52 yards over the 3 miles, yeah i know, not necessarily done that way but as a rule of thumb it points out they have what you'd think would be more than enough. Helicopters, dogs, the townsfolk, and that's excluding boats and divers which you pointed out earlier isn't the best use of resources whilst he might still be alive. The BBC even have a reporter onsite now ffs. Very odd.
-
So having had your BMJ and Telegraph misrepresentation rightly shot down and (unsurprisingly) being unable to come up with any kind of response to that you return with some talking heads from Twatter? k.
-
I don't know about any of that but that Capricorn One film? Definitely a fake.

If wishing made it so.

Give the bloke a break. Anyway, you don't know that votes for binface are ones that would have gone to lab / lib whoever comes second by those few thousand anyway. Might well have come from people who would never vote that way, but are utterly disaffected by the tories. First past the post has a large part to play in that also innit? Hard to get shot of when having the power to do so depends on having used it to attain that power in the first place (as we all know ofc). I'm still sitting in a small puddle of shock that he came top of my policy quiz. Perhaps I shouldn't be.

Edit, amended, I've just read the latest report. 11 June. Blah blah blah. TLDR. I've had money on him being dead since this story first broke. Not a shocking revelation I know. I know it's just a tv personality we see, but he just doesn't strike me as the sort to vanish voluntarily leaving his wife in the lurch like that. His whole raison d'etre on the telly is being reasonably slim and fit and the whole fackin island is only 5 miles long so he's unlikely to have got lost and be lying in a ditch somewhere waiting for rescue. Interesting that he apparently made it to town and then vanished though...Got to have gone on from there somewhere, up to wherever they were staying maybe? Nah, it's got to be Mary's aliens. This is in fact the sensible answer.

1. Gareth Southgate. 2. Not sure I know that many more football managers. Whoever is at ManU: Erik Ten-Shun or summat. Yes yes, I know I know nothing about football and also suspect that the National Team is outside the rules. But the little football I do watch? I suddenly remember why I don't watch.

Oh don't fret, a tenner isn't that much taken from your podcast earnings. @DCI Frank Burnside and I are definitely not the same person so don't think you can weasel out of the debt by claiming that either.
