Well done on reaching 1000 posts themaninblack! Not sure why you don't show up as a twunt though, or is there a written exam and formal interview to be passed before full acceptance into twuntdom?

Defining characteristics of human nature. Very interesting. I do it unconsciously. What are your methods? I'll buy you a cup of coffee. I don't think Mr NAP meant that you can't actually abuse a welcome, more that the commonly used English language phrases are 'outstay a welcome' and 'abuse hospitality' so 'abuse a welcome' mixes these two together. Rather like when an old work colleague of mine used the expression, "She looks like her face has been set on fire and put out with a bag of spanners". A mixed metaphor, but still a description that leaves you with little doubt about what he meant.

I'm going to pay to watch the Man City v Charlton game on Prem Plus tomorrow; first time I've shelled out for a one off game due to it being such a rip-off compared to the price of a Prem Plus season ticket. However, it's still cheaper than going down the pub to watch it (cheaper than me going to the pub to watch it at any rate, I'm genetically incapable of nursing a pint for 2+ hours), plus I'll get to watch it properly and won't have to find somewhere to hide my shame if/when it all goes pear shaped. I'm still worried that our recent form will just revive and then re-dash my hopes of survival; 2 months ago I'd already accepted relegation but now there's a chance of staying up and all of the pain has returned. Still, it makes the season exciting, though on balance I'd still rather be moaning about a dip of form in the last 10 games leading to mid-table obscurity instead of a fight for a UEFA place. Again. Come on the Robins! Think in terms of combining the shouting of our inspired nickname with some aggressive Tim Henman style fist-shaking and you'll achieve my desired effect.

If you're starting to confuse yourself mid-argument - bearing in mind it's not a real time reply and you can re-read and edit your posts as much as you like before hitting 'Add Reply' - my advice would be for you to leave the clever stuff alone and get back to making short clear statements. Well done.

You Sir are indeed full to the very brim of drivel.Perhaps, Sir, you could take the opportunity to reflect that, perhaps, you are not quite as witty and not nearly as intelligent as you believe yourself to be. Respectfully yours Lord Fellatio Nelson That's quite a character analysis from someone with such a witty guest name. And just because you write clearly, it seems to have made you confuse that with being respectful. Why don't you just log in?
  7. Hijacked.....hahaha....when she poots it is the lead story on the evening news....what is this world coming to? Not heard the term "poot" before. Hope I'm guessing correctly what that means. I thought 'poot' was a polite way to curse i.e. 'oh, poot!'. Would make sense of the above if it was a polite way of saying 'sh*t'...

Did he replace Farmer Barleymow as Bod's assistant? When did this happen? I'd always had Frank the Postman down as his natural successor. Shows what I know eh?

You perv. GIMP 2.2 is even dirtier you'll be pleased to know, makes up for the huge disappointment of so-called 'flash animation' turning out to be some sort of bloody graphics programming tool... No I've no idea what I'm talking about either, far too late to let that stop me though.
  10. I really hope that apology wasn't for my benefit; never ever apologise to me about going off topic!

Could very easily be the real Guy Richie judging by the writing style.
  12. Nice! I've always wanted to be a panel beater...
  13. Just click on the post#168 (or whatever number) bit in the top right corner of a post and copy what's in the box before you hit reply, then highlight the word where you want the link & use the insert link option and paste; like this being careful to copy over the http:// bit that's already in the box or you'll have it twice and balls up the link. Or that might be what you meant you already did, so you can also use 'snapback', 'post=' or 'topic='. When you click on the post168 bit, the very last bit is the post number i.e. 94483. Just do <{POST_SNAPBACK}> for the snazzy arrow, or clicky for a post link. In the same link it says showtopic=4315 or the like, so use topic clicky to go to the start of the topic. You'll need to look at my post in reply mode to see what I've done, of course. If you can be arsed. Hope one of those helps! Sorry mods, this should all be in the 'deathlist howto' thread if someone can move it for me? Ta.
  14. I vote for the problem being giving a sh*t in the first place. Is this where you are teaching old dogs new tricks? It would be if I knew of anything that fitted either category. I've already taught my sister-in-law to juggle so that's out.

I did, but I'd like to think we've got stealthier ways of doing that. From what little I've read of the story in the paper today, weren't we checking another vessel at the time under the remit of UN anti-smuggling operations in Iraqi waters? If so, why would we do that on the wrong side of the border, seems like an odd situation to use as a spying method as we'd be advertising ourselves and sitting ducks. I certainly don't put it beyond us from a moral point of view. Maybe when I hear the story from a more neutral viewpoint than the chest beatingly jingoistic Currant Bun I'll make my mind up. I hope it's fairly easy for a third party to ratify our GPS reading, that should settle it beyond much doubt one way or the other.

Was that just to get me to stare wide-eyed at my computer screen for 5 mins so everyone in the office will think I've had a nervous breakdown? If so, it worked; I see no animation! Anyway, I've forwarded a GIMP link to my laptop & I'll have a look at it in the next couple of days, ta.

I did it that way. In that case, I think my question and your answer are both about as on-topic as you can get.

To save AtJ the job, it would be most unfortunate if someone were to quote the above out of context. Ah. My answer depends on whether you're an old dog or not.
  19. Just noticed MH hasn't been on here since 9th Feb, does anybody know why? And Millwall32 M.I.A. since 20th Feb, a few regulars becoming much less so. Maybe a death will get things going again. That's not me volunteering before you ask.

Just noticed this, presumably the full stop button wasn't working properly that day LG? I ran out of breath reading it, an incentive for me to learn how to read without moving my lips and muttering if ever there was one. Like the way the above linked article says but then says I think someone is confusing the words 'dangerous' and 'illegal'...

Actually, that was 90001. How can you tell? My info tells me the '90000!' post was number 94,403, although that includes guest posting whereas the 90,000 total on the index page doesn't as it's a members only total. The only way I can think of telling is actually staring at the index page and seeing who posted last when the total goes up, please tell me you had a more techy way of doing it?
  22. Typical of the BBC - they will give you external links if it's either a) educational political or c) mind numbingly boring but when it comes to something entertainingly distracting you have to go and do the leg work yourself... Bjørnar the Eagle I see you've discovered the b + ) = unless of course you meant "educational cool political"? You can do educational political etc. though, by using (or for bullet points, for roman numerals, for numbers) then using a [*] for each point, finishing off with [/ list] without the space between / & list. Have I overdone the explanation, sorry if you already knew this and just made a mistake. The crazy things I get up to whilst waiting for death, eh?

i do I've just sent a link to a free .gif animation/creation download to my home pc. I expect if I overcome my usual inability to use art packages for more than 5 mins without wanting to destroy my computer I'll have a .gif avatar soon. The clever money's on a busted computer. Is it easier or harder than Flash animation? I could never make Flash draw anything more complicated than the 'morph one simple 2D shape to another slightly different sized 2D shape', or the occasional button. I don't know why I find art packages so counter-intuitive, other stuff I can find my way around and gradually pick up by trial & error, with art packages it's just a trial & error loop with no noticeable gain. I'll be aiming to get a confused mess of black lines to wobble a bit on a 5 second loop, just so you'll know when I've got my .gif right...
