If you follow the link, what makes it even more amazing, is that there is a police car to the left of all the cyclists. Hence, there is surely no way the driver could claim innocence, especially if he was indeed drunk. If EVER there was a picture to highlight the danger of cyclists, it's this one. I expect this image will probably become very famous in its own way.

Alexander Solzhenitsyn. No particular reason. Although, I like DDT, was drawn towards Charles Taylor as a nice surprise....

TWO big hits for Misers on YSL & BD! I don't normally update two updates in two days, but I might have to do as otherwise I might have to wait until Saturday to do another one. (besides, it looks better from my perspective in the table )
-
Damn, that's my not-so-original tagline gone for him on my DDP update. But I'll stick with that & a lame one for YSL because I can't be faffed to be too clever... I'm more surprised Bo was on the DL then I am to hear he had died. I was checking on his health only yesterday, and found nothing particulary wrong, so it just goes to show that research often doesn't make a difference & how random it is.

Ideas And Possibilities For 2009

Chinghiz Aitmatov, Kyrgyz writer & ambassador, is seriously ill after renal failure. To quote Wikipedia: The latest is that he is "stable" but "in a grave condition". Earlier link Not sure how famous he is, but I suspect he would get an obit, especially if he might be nominated, as is rumoured, for a Nobel Prize. -
That report mentions the 5,000th episode of Emmerdale. Sheila Mercier, now 89, who playd Hornby's mum in the soap (Annie Sugden) was part of that feature. She's gained a lot of weight, is very frail now but... seemed to have her wits about her & seems a strong woman mentally. Will she make 90? Probably. 92? Doubtful, I would have thought..

Nope, I was down the pub with my mate, working on a holiday project. I might catch the repeat if -and it's a big if - time allows. I'm not super desperate to see it, because I pretty much know the Graham Hill story anyway. Banshees, thank you for your concern & potential suggestions, but I am happy to say I am neither obese, or even fat. (After all, it was a kind of tongue-in-cheek reply) I'm medically about 3, maybe 4 pounds overweight (for my height - 5 ft 11), but isn't everybody always medically overweight, even Kate Moss? I have a penchant for the odd pork pie as a treat from time to time, but am happy to say I exercise mainly, work hard & watch my eating like a good boy should. But I do agree with your last statement. But if you want to put me because of stress, then feel free. Godot, two of that top 10 are not DL'rs to the best of my knowledge - Tonight Matthew... and Hunting Halos.

Pah, you mean you believe that Communist fabrication that they were 2-0 up after 8 minutes!! It was all faked... Ahem.. *Cough* Erm.. the final was at Wankdorf Stadium. *SN-word* Okay, I goofed, but not as bad as Kwiatowski did in goal vs Hungary...
-
If I keep eating pork pies like I have been doing in the last few months, I might be a suitable enough candidate too.... I would, of course, be worth a fair few points because of my age....

Niemayer - only because his name was near the top & I couldn't be bothered to scroll down.

Shirley Bassey has had an emergency operation on her stomach. Sadly, she is still alive.
-
Heinz Kwiatkowski, goalkeeper in the 1954 World Cup winning squad for West Germany, has died. He didn't play in the final, partly because he let 8 in against the Hungarians when the teams met for the first time in the tournament. West germany won the re-match in the final 3-1.......

I've told you before, MPFC, it makes no difference whether they have been picked by 5,000 teams or 1 -the actual update process takes the same time. What does take time is when you have a number of obits to do at once. That is the case that faces me today (4 at latest count), and all being well I can do it this afternoon. But I might wait until the evening as that is when the filmcrew for the DDP "featurette" are coming around, so I can do a "live" update, as it were.
-
Well, Zachrison doesn't look likely to get a UK obit, so I wonder if this lady - Clementine Solignac will. She was, until her death yesterday, France's oldest person & has also been picked on the DDP.
-
Is that actually confirmed, DDT as the last I heard, Colombian government sources were checking the validity of the reports? After all the man has "died" more times than Derby County have lost a game this season. The only reason I ask is DDP points would be awarded, March or no March, though it throws the DDP history in a tizzy... are hits consecutive now he's gone in March? Ah well, I'll think of an answer. EDIT The Army are saying he is dead too and have named a successor, which means if all this is true, then, far from being the first time, The Miami Herald is full of sh*t if Marulanda was meeting Venezulan officials last week... Either way, I might just hang on a little bit longer before I update the DDP site, especially as I have nothing else to update at the same time.

Well, for one, it's extremely hard to make out due to your abysmal grasp of the quote function. But, secondly, you haven't mentioned a team. The only person who's made an alternative DL XI is David..... unless of course, you're finally admitting you & David are one & the same. Certainly that would explain why both of you get the quote function so badly wrong. If one brother couldn't manage it, then surely the other would? But if you want a thought on your all-time DL XI.. any "all-time great" team which includes Jim Craig but not Pele is a bit questionable. No offence to Jim Craig, who was a very decent player, but not in the same league as Pele. Though David/Scot, if you want to discuss football more, there is a separate & more general football thread. This is more for those footballers most likely to die..

The actor Patrick Allen has died. He was 79 Obituary. Now whilst Smith & Richmond were on my DDP long-list - last year Allen was on my DDP top 20! Having said that, I'm surprised he's died as he seemed well.

I've not seen the movie, but seeing how he's not on the cast list, I'd have to say no, twas not he.

This chap was born 100 years ago today - thanks for the many, many enjoyable films you made it a treat watching, pal... -
Bob Wilson is NOT dead. The one thing that DOES confuse me: If David & Scot share the same house & computer, why are you both having an online conversation on the Deathlist about.. - I'm not sure what exactly, actually - rather than having a conversation between the two of you?
-
I thought Sir Bobby looked near death myself. But then I was watching on a giant screen.

Funny, I returned from there today. We probably passed each other on the way. If only I'd known, I would've waved from the fastcat. First time I've been there - lovely. Stayed in Ventnor, which was superb, except I had no mobile reception at all. Normally, bliss, but not when I needed to do an important conference call..... Also went down Sandown Pier & went on the gambling machines. I also ate well & got drunk. Ah... that's the life for me....

I am just doing the DDP update now - there's a 4th name to add to Gantin, Sheikh wotsit & Rauschenberg - that of Frith Banbury, theatre director. He was picked, uniquely, by some also-ran. Said also-ran is quoted as "a bit peeved he didn't die one (or 10) day/s before".... Obit
