Happy Birthday to one and all! Again apologies for lateness to Honez. -
It's not the advantage, per se, MPFC, it's more the fact that it goes against what the CPDP was set up for - especially for a theme team. Otherwise I think a few more of us would've gone for Lizzie Bolden, at least. But CP has allowed it, and accept it we must.

That's what happens when you pick nobodies, MPFC. But in this case, you win. http://www.journalstar.com/articles/2006/1...9c667771673.txt Another hit for MPFC's very controversial theme team.

Well, the key bits from Windsor's interview are: Larry King asked Tammy Faye how she was feeling ? "Well, for one thing, I feel up and down. I will feel good and if I do something on one day, then I have to be good the next day and stay home and rest. And so that I can rest up so I can do something that I’d like to do the next day. And so that’s how cancer kind of works. It kind of works so you have to rest up for your next fun-thing that you want to do. Tammy Faye told King that she is in hospice and "hospice is in my home." "And, yes, I am able to get in and out of bed. I do pretty much what I want to. I can’t do a lot of work. That has — I get too tired sitting home with home work and doing that kind of thing. "But I can get out of bed. I can write. I can do things like that, that — and I can go out and be with my kids and then visit with people that come over." King commented that : "We’ve been told that you were told that the cancer is so advanced that you shouldn’t be alive at this point. How do you react to that ?" "It’s amazing how they say I shouldn’t be alive and here I am. I have — I have a number that everyone knows about, most people, and a number — your number, whether you’re still supposed to be alive or not. And mine’s 47, which is way up there. And yet I feel wonderful. I can get out and do things. And, Larry, I feel pretty good. I really feel I’m going to beat this thing again. "I’ve lost 66 pounds. I look like — kind of like a machine that’s been crashed in. "I do have a line of pain medication. I have many different kinds of pain medicine. And that’s what helps me, I’m sure, obtain a, you know, attitude. Plus the fact that God is with me and I really trust god. Tammy Faye told King that she has the feeling that she’s going to beat the cancer. "The hospice treatment is absolutely wonderful. They come here and they — the wonderful thing about it is they bring their equipment. And so that you don’t have to go to the hospice — hospital, where it’s so cold, and get all your treatments there. You can get them here at home. "And I have them at home in bed. I have my treatments for my — I don’t know what you cal them. They’re just — they’re just treatments that you get through a needle. And you get that in bed. And that makes it so much better that you don’t have to get out and go out in the cold and take those treatments." "But I really was saying, you know, Lord, please heal me or take me, you know ? You get to the — there are times when you get to the wit’s end, but nobody sees that with me. KING : Is your mother’s illness very difficult for you ? JAY BAKKER : Yes. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever been through. It’s hard because even seeing the footage of her and seeing how healthy she looked because she’s down to 60 — I think about 68 pounds right now. "And it’s just, you know, my dad used to call her the unsinkable Molly Brown, and it’s really hard to see her this weak. And, you know, everything we’ve been through, nothing has prepared me for this. Bakker was asked what he believes keeps Tammy Faye going ? "She’s a fighter. She is — she is 68 pounds of pure steel, you know. I mean, it’s just like she is just amazing. And I think what keeps her going is her faith in God and her love for shopping. You know, we have to go to Target every other day. KING : Is it hard to look at her losing so much weight ? JAY BAKKER : Yes, it’s very hard. It nearly breaks my heart when I hug her. I can feel her bones.

Lauda, Hill, Rolt - correcto. Tony - sorry Major Rolt - is not brilliant, but I don't think he's about to drop. To answer the questions, in order, fine, very well, very low profile, but last I heard, active. -
Not if you choose the option "pages from the UK" Tammy Faye Messner - 65 hits Edward Upward - 280 hits But as CP said, this is somewhat flawed. Anyway, Octopus of Odstock brings in a global total of.......... 6

I'd take this "update" with a pinch of salt. The fact that what she publicist calls "so-called tabloid garbage" is actually her son talking about her last days makes me think they paid a monkey to type this up.
-
Who?
-
Oh I quite agree, and won't dispute that. If it wasn't for MPFC, and MPFC alone I wouldn't even heard of Lindsey Hughes or Edward Upyours. But my point with Messner is not all these US "titans of fame" muster even a raised eyebrow here in the UK -Red Auerbach who, to use just one example? (first thought was Red Adair, the firefighter had died, then realised he was dead already)- It's a two way thing.
-
Tammy Faye Messner is pretty obscure in the UK. I think you'd struggle to find more than 3 people in a workplace of 100 that would know who she actually was rather than sometimes hearing the name. And that 1 of those 3 will say she's a singer....

He's on my CPDP though. I don't think I had the strength to put him on DDP, for more personal reasons than any other. After Regga's loss today, we can ill afford to lose any more Ferrari greats. If I'm really lucky, I may end up with 8 unique picks, and all good candidates, but I doubt it will end up being that many. -

I did African history/current affairs at uni, which might go a long way to explaining it. Bar from living in Tunisia for a while (and Zine Al-Abidine Ben Ali is going nowhere), I don't know any more than the average European. But I like to stay in touch The only inside knowledge I have is motor racing, which is why I will have two unique pick candidates for sure in the DDP. -

Daniel Arap Moi, former leader of Kenya has been feeling a little peaky. His doctor says his aneurysm has been treated & all is well. But he's not getting any younger... Doctor's Interview Here -
I think she's going to be alright News Link - Farrah "doing very well."
-
It now appears Clay had a stroke which caused him to crash. It matters not a jot, all that matters is he is no longer with us.
-
Only a mild update: In another interview her son has said she's in the last stages of the disease and that her family are by her side 17 days - that's all she has to do.......
-
I think he's got Parkinson's, perhaps that might explain it?

Clay Regazzoni, former Ferrari racing driver, GP winner (including the first man to win for Williams), and an inspirational & thoroughly decent human being, has been killed in a road crash in Italy. Link Words almost fail me, as I'm distraught about this news, especially so soon after Len's death. All I can say is Arrivederci, Gianclaudio. It was a pleasure to have been in the presence of your company.
-
Oh, please F**k off Iain & take your stupidity elsewhere. and providing a better link would help. I could put in google "Iain" "dead" and come up with the same results Negroponte saying it, doesn't necessarily mean it's any closer. The same country, I remind you, said the same about Saddam in 2000. He could well be right, but it's just his word - there's no actual proof attached to his statement.

Must be something about Turks & comas. Ecevit did the same. Most, most annoying.

Sheikh Omar Abdel-Rahman is 'near death'. Read more about Rahman and his dastardly deeds here. -
Please please please pencil in Gloria Stuart to your list, Phantom. One more DDP hit for me means I should finish in the top 10. One more DDP hit for anyone 10 or less points behind me means mid-table obscurity.

Peanuts still add up to points and what do points make....... PRIZES!! Yeah, I cannot now fathom why I took off Maurice Trintignant from 2004 to 2005. I knew the chap was so ill... I mean look at 2004's list: 8 of the 18 that survived to 1 Jan 2005 have gone. 2005's list not so bad, actually, only Haughey since. My problem is I have excellent candidates for unique picks, but never put them in because there's nothing to prove they're going to drop, compared to say others. Such dawdling cost me dear this year, but... sigh.. enough moaning. I think I still have an ok team, just it's veering towards octogenarians where I did have a few much younger candidates... Oh finally, Puskas isn't nine, as he was on my DDP this year, but I see what you mean...

Bernie Ecclestone. You heard it here first.
