Ideas & Possibilities - The Names
Octopus of Odstock replied to Octopus of Odstock's topic in DeathList Forum
1) Updated for de Capovilla's death 2) For those of you who suggested/are following Malcolm Allison's progress, he was at the Manchester City game yesterday. Frail, thin, but robust enough to suggest that whatever ill health he has had, he's fighting it well and is not confined to a home just yet. I wouldn't think he's going to make 90 though... 3) I've also removed some of the more dubious names (ie the ones that really are not likely to drop at all), but there's still plenty of names to choose from! -
The GRG site is the official site for the Guinness Book of Records! It's extremely trustworthy & can be taken that she is dead. The guy who posted it on, Robert Young is the official claims guy for Guinness, so if he says she dead, she's dead. He's probably been told by the family, but it'll be in the news soon.

Maria Capovilla is dead, and 16 teams will score points as long as she gets a UK mention. Although some of these oldies haven't had much mention, surely the fact that she was the oldest must count for something. Surprisingly, no-one chose her as their joker. As long as she gets the obit:- Tempus moves up the scoreboard into 2nd. (proving it pays to choose ancient people in the DDP) Rude Kid gets only his 2nd hit of the year. Living in a Box get their 1st hit and somehow I keep my place in the Top 10.. for now...

Maria Capovilla, the world's oldest person is dead. Anybody who has her in a DP, well done, and also anyone who has Lizzie Bolden in a DP can be happier, now she is, once again, the oldest person in the world.
-
If we are to believe Wikipedia, then Angelina Jolie has apparently died of overwork. But seriously, there IS a notable death: Maria Capovilla, the oldest person in the world, has died, aged 116. Lizzie Bolden is now the oldest. link I'll try & find a news item on it.

Carol Kaye, former singer with the Kaye Sisters & who also appeared in Coronation St, has died, aged 71. I could've sworn somebody like Handreijka already mentioned her, but a search of DL reveals nothing. That death was revealed on Entertainment Insiders, which also announces the death of Ethel Stratton. Link. The Stratton Story is one of my all-time favourite films, so I'm sorry to hear she's died. That site also has nothing on Tiffany Rayne's "death", and it does cover that genre, so I think we can presume that the young pup is still alive.

Agree. Eoin took ages to write that book but it was a letdown in the end, I thought. Particulary as Lawro says:- so he must know more that what he wrote. When I was at the GPM, I got a free copy of Steve Olvey's book.. um.. Rapid Response. I haven't read it yet, but it looks good & is fascinating as it deals with the dark side of the sport (countless deaths from Vukovich to Moore) as well as the good human nature stories (Zanardi & other recoveries). I'm on the look out for other good bios. Zanardi's was excellent, so if you haven't already read that, I suggest it's worth the money & shelling out for that one. -

The very same. Morgan worked with Kubica last year in the WR Series, where Kubica won the title. Morgan says he has the same approach to racing, and driving indeed, as Alonso (then ergo Schumacher). Morgan, of course, has also worked as an engineer to Alonso in lower formulae so that's an interesting comparison. Stuck is still annoyed about the ATS days. Maybe annoyed is the wrong word but I think he hoped for more time in F1 & better treatment from Schmid. Even though Schmid is dead, Stuck was still not 100% complimentary of the man, to put it mildly. Yes, he'd like to try Le Mans with Johannes & Ferdinand, but the one on top of his wish-list would be to do Paris-Dakar just once, but he's not sure if he will. -

Hmmm.. I'm not really an insider to modern day F1. If I have insider knowledge, it tends to come from other series. It's hard to see past Schumacher as the momentum (I expect him to win tomorrow, or at least finish ahead of Alonso) is with him & will be going into Italy. But, what is in Alonso's favour is the points system. It's hard to make up ground when there's potentially only two points in it between 1st & 2nd. I'll plump for Schumi to win in the last race & that'll also be his last GP. One insider tip for the future, though. Kubica will be a World Champion in years to come. You mark my words. Dave Morgan says so, Hans Joachim Stuck says so, and since they both drove in F1, they know their oats. -
Ann Richards, the movie actress, has died aged 88. She's been out of the public eye for too long for anyone to remember her, I guess, but anyone who was a surviving leading lady of the Hollywood Golden Age, deserves some sort of mention upon death. Link

Sir Clyde Walcott, one of the greatest cricketers of modern times, has died, aged 80.

IMDB authoratively said he was in one of the planes that hit the twin towers in 2001. Also, the guy who does Genarians is scathing about IMDB & with good reason. There's people on there who died years ago, but there's nothing on the pages. And it's too US Centric. For film/tv obits, I rely on entertainment insiders. Three reasons: 1) They include a pic, wherever possible, so you're never wondering "sounds familiar but i need to see what they looked like" 2) They get some obits before the likes of Wiki, imdb 3) They don't discriminate - ie it's not the big names only, there's other ones too, but cuts out the imdb crap of listing anyone whose died that has the smallest link with a film (ie make up to assistant gripper etc.) At the moment, Rayne is not on the EInsiders listings as having died.
-
Well, I'm bored, okay?
-
Well it doesn't come up on search. Either way, profound & sincere apologies for insulting you. Your link comes up as page not found, btw, but I found it later on. They've killed off people before, like Kevin McCarthy & Jeffrey Combs, so until's it on a credible news source, I'm not liable to believe it. Not that I give a sh*t about her anyway.
-
Iain, you asswipe, Tiffany Rayne doesn't have an imdb page. Besides, above, you have admitted for the first time, Wikipedia may be wrong! So, once again, killing off someone who isn't dead. Let's hope that supension keeps on trucking.

For those who care about such things, two ex-F1 non-qualifiers have died recently, Andre Testut & Azdrubal Fontes Bayardo.

Simon Cadell, Kenneth Connor & Leslie Dwyer are dead. Paul Shane is still an annoying fat bloke. Su Pollard is still acting, on stage & still makes many TV guest appearances. Ruth Madoc is still going strong, she plays Dafyyd's mum in Little Britain. Diane Holland is in v. poor health. Felix Bowness is retired, lives in Berkshire. The rest? Nobodies before, nobodies after. Their disappearance from our TV screens is no loss at all.
