    Sir Patrick Moore

I suppose this is the same feeling that you had when you made your "bold prediction" that "Charlton Heston will be the next to die" back in January..... Well, we're still waiting

    Ideas and possibilities for 2007

Well, I saw the Wilson documentary on Tuesday night. That was filmed in 2002 & she looked & sounded awful, a true dinosaur bag of olde. But then so did Michael Foot - Jim Callaghan looked great, so you just don't know. Only thing is she is "only" 74 this year. If she was 10 years older she'd be in my DDP 20 for 07.

    Near misses 2006

Tempus, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't necessarily make it drink the water, if you get my meaning regards a certain member.

    Peter Sallis

Met one of our closest family friends today & was reminded, during the conversation (it was Wallace & Gromit being brought up that did it) that she is the great-niece of Peter Sallis. So, I asked about his health & the last time she heard from him around Christmas 2005, he was doing "well." Whether he has a thread or not, I don't think he's going to die soon. Brian Wilde, I've met. He was far from difficult, in fact he was kindness personified.

    Harry Morgan

I've said all I need say before. He's a good candidate, but I will be genuinally very saddened when he does die.

    Ideas and possibilities for 2007

Thanks, TF & MBA. For those of you familiar with the man, I'm sure you'll agree he's aged. Also, very quick side-note: Osgood himself died at a funeral. Bobby Tambling, another Chelsea legend, nearly did the same today. He collapsed with heart problems just before he was due to attend Osgood's funeral. Now, THAT would have been bizarre if he had died a la Osgood.

    James Bond 007 (Connery/Moore/Villains etc)

Not too mention exagerrating illnesses. I always appreciate health news about a celebrity as long as its accurate. Iain's farcial handling of Sir Patrick Moore's hospital stay was proof of what not to do.

    Peter Sallis

Iain is right about Peter Sallis being frail. I watched one episode of LOTSW (a new one) for research reasons ONLY & whilst he still looked good for his age, you could see visually that he was having a little more trouble walking. I personally think retirement home for a few years before death, but... Frank Thornton looked excellent btw, but Jean Alexander, whilst healthy-looking has aged a bit. Everyone else looked okay. Now I've watched it again, I don't need to watch it until the next series for precisely the same reason.

Tommy Docherty, football manager, at Peter Osgood's funeral today - I can't post the image for some reason but if you go to BBC Sport & click on Osggods' funeral pics, you'll find it. Now near 80, overweight & has always liked a drink & a smoke & doesn't look brilliant...

Only this time, CP, just to give you a break. After this, it is back to you for salicious health & death gossip

    Mickey Rooney

Just about - but I hope that this post frenzy is a worthwhile one to people as there's lots of health and/or activity updates to mull over.

    Near misses 2006

The BBC is reporting in its breaking news section for sport that former Manchester City striker Roy Clarke has died at the age of 80. Not as famous as Jimmy Johnstone, but Clarke was a legend at Maine Road & also for Wales, which is why I'm sorry to see his passing. Profile Obit

    Mickey Rooney

Mickey Rooney Interview I think he's good for a decade yet.

    Billy Graham

Indeed, CP. Report of New Orleans Visit Obviously frail, but looks quite robust in the picture.

    Clive Dunn

Still donating money to good causes but nothing about his health. Probably as he's healthy, one hopes.
  16. Octopus of Odstock

    Muhammad Ali

Brief article, probably similiar to one read by Lady Die here. Wouldn't say he's on deaths door, simply not the man he was either 30 yrs ago or 10.
  17. Octopus of Odstock

    Milton Friedman

Long & excellent article about Friedman - then and now
  18. Octopus of Odstock

    Harold Pinter

At last, recent news about Pinter's health! An excellent article, in which you can draw your own conclusions. There are cases for being hopeful if you have on a DDP list, but equally, it looks like he may not go just yet.
  19. Octopus of Odstock

    Byron Nelson

Unfortunately the link is a subscription one, but Nelson is doing a radio interview this week & apparently still runs his "Byron Nelson Classic" event, so one has to presume that he is possibly another case of "Old doesn't mean dead",
  20. Octopus of Odstock

    Kirk Douglas

He may be looking old, but he's still working!
  21. Octopus of Odstock

    Tony Curtis

Attended the Oscars, but "not what he was". Make of that what you will. Also quite critical re. "Brokeback Mountain", but I haven't seen any interviews recently so I don't know how he is looking health-wise.
  22. Octopus of Odstock

    Vera Lynn

    Vera Lynn still in demand
  23. Octopus of Odstock

    Claire Rayner

She's been very vocal this weekend about Chai Patel's bribe to become a Lord. She seems back to her old busybody self, it must be said.
  24. Octopus of Odstock

    George Melly

Recent Article on his health Quite interesting, too.

    Not Exactly Famous...

Jonatan Johansson, Swedish Snowboard Crosser. I only mention this as I watched Snowboard Cross in the Olympics last month & he came 12th. Died in an accident. Writer Bill Cardoso. Never heard of him but some people have apparently.
