Joanne Borgella, former American Idol contestant and now a model, has cancer - http://atlantablackstar.com/2013/10/15/american-idol-alum-joanne-borgella-reveals-battle-cancer/. Seems a very decent pick in terms of age and illness - but I think obit chances might be too difficult.

Ian Farmer, a pick for me and DDT was one of those who held the key to victory or missing out. News on him has been very quiet since his resignation due to illness on the 30th December 2012 from Lonmin. Today came news that, realistically leaves me in a very precarious position at the top as Fielding, Athaiya, Granger, Bryan and now Farmer will see out 2013. Suarez and Porcaro are my only hopes as this was Farmer's statement today; Arseburgers

Ideas And Possibilities For 2014

Yes, and John Surtees isn't (scandalously) a knight of the Realm either, not to mention Stirling Moss is spelt wrong. Moss is frail but will see 2015, likewise Surtees. Brabham is a very decent pick though. -
Well, that'll be a waste of a phone call, as she's been dead 20 years or so.

It's a terrible shame and I feel desperately sorry for her father in particular. I know how pained he was when she lost her eye - as a racing father, he felt guilty that having followed his path career-wise that she suffered so much for it. I hope he continues in the sport, he's done a lot for young Spaniard racers in particular. Personally, I think it's probably something to do with the accident - a clot or something that has become more lethal than normal because of the injuries she sustained. Of course, you can never tell, but I'd be very surprised if it was suicide - she had too much to live for and too much life IMO to top herself.

Talking of ex-Carlisle United players, Mick Buckley has died, aged 59 after many years battling alcoholism. His Carlisle spell was short, he's much better known for his spells with Everton and Sunderland. http://www.toffeeweb.com/season/13-14/news/25794.html

Hardlly ridden with dementia, is she? I suspect she'll go next year a la Bill Pertwee who appeared at an event incredibly frail and then soon after his body simply gave up on him. But the trick is whether she is worth the rather meagre points haul she would now bring. I have no doubt her, Mandela and so on simply cannot go on for much longer, but one Katherine Crowe is equal two of them.

Former DDP pick H.E. De Wardener has died - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/10361740/Professor-Hugh-de-Wardener.html Blackie, whilst checking if HEDW had been picked this year (which he wasn't), I noticed the latest update but it doesn't mention Peter Broadbent (died 1st October, picked by two teams), who got an obituary from the BBC.

Hardly up-to-date. It's from 2009, so 4 years old now. Nice to have them in a list, but the list on this thread is more accurate.

Sad to hear. When watching QI only two weeks ago, they talked about St. Kilda and Gillies and I thought what an excellent candidate to add onto my DDP list. Seemed quite healthy though, having travelled there recently. Having just discovered the story, it's a lititle deflating that he's died so soon afterwards.

http://theblackboxclub.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/hammer-films-architect-anthony-hinds.html Them rumours are right. I think he's a pick in the DDP.

Thanks, that's nice to say that but I think you're more likely to win it if Katherine Crowe is as ill as some think and hasn't got that long left. I only think I'll get 3 hits maximum - Suarez, Porcaro and Farmer, and I'm not confident on any of them. The other four picks seem to be ticking over okay. -

If I've understood the requirements and the precedent with Walter Jens earlier this year - then this does count as a valid Jack Pardee obit.. doesn't it? From Yahoo's uk news page and it's a summary (or as it says Yahoo blog) of the weeks NFL news and not a Sky copy of a news feed or anything else like that.... http://uk.eurosport..../archive/7.html Bit strange I'd not noticed it before. It's the same report as listed above by Paul Bearer a few posts up, but posted on Yahoo's UK version. Can we have our points, nice Mr ManInBlack? -
It says a lot about Blackadder that I can instantly by that mention of his role, know who he is. RiP.

I don't know if he was on anyone else's shortlist, but he was one of the fixed names on my team for next year - Les Halpin, MND sufferer has died - and got a BBC obit pretty much straight away - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-gloucestershire-24114786 I thought he would've got a broadsheet as well as before his illness he was in a few positions that broadsheets like to cover - http://www.accesstomedicine.co.uk/the-campaign/les-halpin Ah well. -
If she had died recently, I think they wouldve both mentioned something on Facebook but they didnt. But reading it back, I grant you that it seems more like a recent passing.

Information on Chirac has been gloriously vague in the last few years. Is it just faking it or really ill? Probably half-way in between - http://www.sudouest.fr/2013/08/04/la-solitude-de-chirac-1132370-880.php Relevant bits here; The article mentions that Chirac still attends his "office" every day, could go to Morocco again (he apparently goes to a hotel there quite often, so is clearly fit to fly and mentions that he has discussed politics, nationally and internationally with Hollande. So in summary, he's slowly going downhill like anyone of his age might be expected to, and is not doing as well as, say, Giscard d'Estaing, for example, but the above doesn't strike me as someone who is on death's door just yet.

Don't bother with this one - the reason she pulled out was not illness, it was family bereavement. Illness was cited to protect her privacy originally. Her brother died and judging by the fact that's she well enough to open events.. .I think she's okay. Personally, maybe the Hayley storyline hit too close to home and she feels there's better things to do now. Especially if she lives in Somerset, that's a long way to travel repeatedly to and from Manchester. http://coronationstreetupdates.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/state-of-street-august-2013_30.html http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2013-09-09/is-soapland-in-crisis-and-where-are-all-the-pets http://www.thisissomerset.co.uk/Coronation-Street-Stephanie-Cole-star-cut-ribbon/story-19757035-detail/story.html#axzz2eoNgzFgl -
I've long been convinced that DDP pick for the last 6 years or so, Trudiee (name deliberately misspelt) (NHS TV ad cancer patient) Endersby is no longer with us, but obviously the family have kept it private that she died. Well, it took some digging and date of death (September 6th but what year? If I had to guess, I'd say 2008) is unclear but by searching on her "profile" on Facebook and by checking the news reports - she had two daughters. One of them has since married and in their profile recently, they put this (link is here - https://www.facebook...ion=friends_tab) PS I do appreciate that this is either/or/all creepy, excellent research, obsessive, nosy and crossing the line etc. But I do also think that it's time this lady stops getting picked on a dead pool when she's already dead and let her rest in peace.
