Pick of the year as far as I'm concerned. MPFC, I remember clarifying with Ethnic Cleansing which Kevin McGee he meant & EC came back & said "Matt Lucas' ex-partner. Bit of a gamble but I've read reports of depression & drugs. So you never know....." When I investigated McGee more for his profile, I did note that McGee had "depression" & said "he couldn't live without Lucas" but I put it down to celebrity media blurb rather than anything substantial. Seems I, and everyone other than EC, was wrong.

which she has got thanks to the merest of mentions in the Daily Mirror. Quite rare I do a obit from that paper....

Death List Convention
Octopus of Odstock replied to Saint Peter's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
It's WRAPS. 1. I'm riffraff & proud of it, although I have no idea if I have good standing or not - who does decide that? You? The Mods? LFN? Seems a bit exclusive & closed club & that's not my idea of fun. Not sure I want to be part of that. So I won't be there. I can't afford to go to London anyway & work Saturdays, so it's all moot anyway. However I hope who does go to this has a good time. -
There's a mention now - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8258970.stm, however it does not mention this Edge of Darkness to which you refer. But it does mention Kelly's Heroes - I like that film, especially the theme song.

Just to say that along with Travers and almost certainly Henry Gibson, belated & acceptable obits have appeared now for Crystal Lee Sutton & A. Stone Freedberg. Well done to the two teams, Deadsox for CLS & Fallen Sparrow for ASF. A search for Peter Arundell's much needed & long awaited suitable obit drew a blank I'm afraid.

Paul Shane most likely.......

Damn damn damn damn damn He was firmly in the top 10 of my DDP list for next year. I knew he was struggling & thought he'd be worth a good bet. Mind, he was older than I thought he was - I had a feeling he was born in 1931, so maybe it's not all bad..... Shame though - my uncle's dad knew him quite well & always said what a nice chap he was.

Ideas and Possibilities for 2010
Octopus of Odstock replied to football_fan's topic in DeathList Forum
OoO's outside bet tip for the DDP number 1: Brian Heron - born 19th June 1948 - link Footballer with Oxford, which normally wouldn't get an obit on its own. However, when Heron's team-mate Nigel Cassidy died recently, BBC obit straightaway. Apparently Poxford have good links with the Beeb so BBC Oxford might cover it. Anyway, Heron's problem is a severe stroke has left him in a nursing home permanently, unable to speak. Apparently, depression is a real problem.. OoO's outside bet tip for the DDP number 2: A motor racing one - and considering most of who I knew was ill this year has died, it might not be a bad one. Julian Bailey. Now 48, this ex-Grand Prix driver & former "Stig" of BBC's Top Gear, was an avid smoker & drinker. He's finally packed in the cigarettes after being seriously ill for some time over the last year. But still drinks heavily... and runs a pub. As he was a very James Hunt-esque driver & personality in his approach to life & racing, don't be suprised if he ends up like Hunt did... dead & early. He's now recovered from his illness, but his racing days are over due to his health. -
Well done CP! My team is fine, but one minor note - last time I entered a theme-team for my main team; OoO's P-Shooters. This team I have named a "normal" theme team, so I am just known as Octopus of Odstock this time please. Cheers! But all looks okay with me...

Frank Gardner, an unique pick on the DDP (not by me, though... though he was on my shortlist, but look what happened with Arundell... sod all ), ex F1 driver, former British Touring Car Champion & all round good egg, has died, after a long illness. Link And because of this small mention on the BBC rolling sports coverage - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport...one/8227401.stm - about Mark Webber wearing a black armband - he gets an obit valid for the DDP!!! Good stuff, but why couldn't Lewis bloody Hamilton wear one for Peter Arundell.....

Prehumous? I meant points in addition to initial points but pfff.... I know what I mean even if I make no sense

Dead Edward Kennedy/Curse of the Kennedys

See the extra-curricular thread for the reason for that, YIA. -
I'm waiting for the official autopsy/inquiry/investigation to be finalised after getting my hands bitten off about killing Mehsud off before he was dead, or whatever. Depending on when that will be though. I'll weigh it up, but like Brad Renfro (who also had posthumous points added), the points are a-waiting to be a-warded before long.

Apologies to everyone but my internet provider on the laptop I transferred the whole DDP over recently has packed in (Thanks, Virgin Mobile for nothing...) & won't be fixed until the 6th September! Unless it amazingly comes back on, then I will have to wait until then (provided they can fix it) to update the DDP - I thoroughly apologise for this state of affairs. Especially annoying as 1) I had been set to do it last night & 2) I deleted the files on the old PC so I can't put them back on now.. However, I have updated the DDP database & am updating the emails which are sent out as it happens, so at least the actual update shouldn't take too long - it just needs internet connection to upload the pages. Apologies, but as soon as I can update it, I will... Of course this would happen after one of the biggest hits this year.....
-
Good thing the DDP doesn't have relegation as I'd be peering over the trapdoor after a miserable state of affairs all summer... Well done to everyone who picked the three - Impaled on the Antlers I think is now 2nd? If all goes well - I will try & do the update tonight, otherwise it will be at the weekend. Normally, I'd wait but three big uns probably deserve a quicker update.

Hopefully this time if MPFC names a team of supercenterians, the theme team won't be accepted. Sorry, but it goes completely against the grain of what this particular DP is supposed to be all about. I'll be entering my team shortly, but I expect to be mid-table. I'm not entering this to win, more to be as "interesting " as I could ever hope to be.

Well, actually, it was a routine check-up & Norden says he is "fit as a flea"....

He's not been too well lately....

All I will say is that South Africa didn't win one gold medal at any sport in the 2008 Olympics. There was a hell of a lot of soul-searching & I do remember them saying "we need a miracle to get back to the top of the world's sporting echelon", so now South Africa suddenly has a world-beating star, then it raises that small flicker of doubt in my mind. That having been said, I think she is a she.
-
Yeah. Shame they prefer American nobodies (Not that Novak was, but generally) to English, and successful racing drivers. That having been said, I am surprised Marinescu & Knoxall are both awaiting genuine obits too....

Shamir me thinks.

I've been suggested one for the DDP which DL can nick if they want. But as no-one at DL seems particuarly bothered any more, I don't think it's of too much worry. By the way, TMIB, can you let me know a response to the issue I raised in my recent PM. Ta, my good man.
