Tony Huesman, 52, heart transplant longevity holder... no longer holds the record. Unique pick for Nice Little Urner if Brit obit comes in...
-
You said that back in 2007, which is why we put her in our 2008 team *twiddles thumbs* I think you must be mistaking me for someone else and may therefore be twiddling in my direction unnecessarily. Apart from the post above, I'm not sure I've ever mentioned Eunice Kennedy. VT's thumbs should be put away before they damage anyone else falsely. It was actually young Canadian Paul who suggested that Kennedy Shriver was quite ill & often hospitalised & therefore (rightly) would be a good pick. This was discovered after a detailed DL search which, despite protests by many, works just fine if you use it properly.

Yes. I'll let them introduce themselves, but the name comes from them being fed up about BC Alum (in particluar) & Chicago wotsit & all his so-called "significant" deaths....
-
Chose him on my theme team, which is enough for me. Only pain is that I won't update the site until Monday, so he could've done me a favour & hang on for a few more days & it would be more "convienent". Almost certain that this is the biggest update I've done on the DDP, but it shouldn't be too bad unless Biggs goes as well.....
-
Sorry Windsor, that was my error - I sent two by mistake last night. I would like to call it a "glitch" but it was human error.......

I have to agree, he seems, like Allingham, to have aged visibly in the last year or so. Still VERY saddened about Patch's death- in fact, to lose Stone, Allingham & Patch in the same year, whilst somewhat inevitable, is such a shame.
-
I'm pretty certain he died in the 1980's. I did have a book about Scottish internationals, but I sold it a few years back, which I regret as it could help with things like this. I am almost certain, though, that all the pre-war cup finallists are dead, as the last one, a chap who played for southampton died about a year ago.. just after their cup final win, if I recall correctly. And I know I have him down as "deceased" in my internationals book.

Bobby Knoxall, chosen by Grobler on the DDP & mentioned in despatches here by DDT before has died. Now, like Arundell & Joyce, the wait is on for a "proper" obit.
-
Well Surtees already would've qualified for an obit anyway through all the press coverage. I think the problem is Peter was a very private, somewhat cranky man & this is perhaps why the press haven't really converged on the story - much to my surprise & dismay. I live in hope, but I don't expect a much needed 20 DDP points....

Kim Jong Il.. but I did have a dream that Norman Wisdom died. However, his turn will come. For me, it's the North Korean chappy for now.

Having been away from the internet yesterday, to read the untimely deaths of Londono & Surtees in one go is a double shock. Not sure which one surprises me more. Londono was targeted, of that there is no doubt. He was a marketing executive, which might be one reason, but he did also run a racing team. Could a pushy parent have objected to him not picking their hopeless but rich child? There's no need for anyone to die that way. Londono didn't actually attempt qualification for the Grand Prix he was entered in & many motorsport sites (including mine) don't include him in their lists, but he was a bit of cult hero figure for having such a spectacular second name & having such a bizarre F1 career, so very saddened to see him go. Surtees... what a tremendous shame. I've followed his career, on & off, for some while now - since at least 2000/2001. Poor "Big John" must be shattered at Henry's passing. A freak accident which the series, Jack Clarke (the racer who crashed.. hence the wheel going towars Henry) & the car manufacturers could do nothing about. Certainly looked like he had the talent to progress - probably F1, but certainly sportscars etc as well. RIP both. What a rotten motor racing year. Mind you, it might mean Arundell gets an obit, if broadsheets decide to do all three obits together...
-
Genuially saddened, but not at all surprised by Henry's passing. A truly inspirational man. RIP. When BCAlum or Chicago10.. whatever (He/she is so boring & repetitive I can't even be bothered to remember their name) go on about "significant" deaths - Allingham's death has to be up there as from a purely historical point of view... a hell of a lot of history has gone. Is there anyone living now who saw WG Grace play? Who remembers Queen Victoria's death? Who was there at the battle of Jutland? I doubt it for the first two now & certainly not for the last one. Looks like I have a busy Monday ahead of me updating the DDP.. mind Joyce, Cronkite & Allingham aren't big scorers....

Maria del Carmen Bousada de Lara: I can only imagine under what letter OoO would have placed this on the DDP. Actually, I feel like she was on the DDP or the HDP in some year past... maybe not... She was picked this year & was under letter D Slightly annoyed as she was a backup for my Spanish CPDP team... but never mind...

John Hartson Diagnosed With Brain Cancer
Octopus of Odstock replied to lunatic's topic in DeathList Forum
Looks like he is done for - just goes to show how an early diagnosis might have saved him. A tremendous shock - 34 is far too young to go if he doesn't pull through. I remember him at Luton as a teenager & he did a good job for Wales, for which we will be thankful - maybe not everyone's cup of tea.. but he generally scored the goals to shut people up. -
Well, as far as Dr Day's health - no, not as far as I know, but then I guess I am much in the dark with that as anyone else. To the best of most people's knowledge, he was healthy & still working until last week. If I hear anything more, I'll post it in the bird flu thread.

Dr. Michael Day, not worldwide famous, but in the news as having died from swine flu, the first doctor to do so. Why do I mention this so? Because Dr. Day used to be our family doctor for nearly 10 years when we lived in Dunstable. When I read the news on BBC Ceefax News.. I was more shocked to read that piece of news than I was Michael Jackson & Natasha Richardson combined... Report & the good man himself. He was a good doctor & a very sensitive & caring man.
-
It perhaps SHOULD be Swayze, Novak, Cronkite, especially & Biggs... but I'm going for a Jimmy Stewart co-stars double & Harry Morgan to go next.
-
Interesting to see that: 1) He was born in Gary, Indiana, just like Michael Jackson 2) He died exactly 5 years after his co-star in "On The Waterfront", Marlon Brando...

Link here: http://www.latimes.com/news/la-me-karl-mal...0,3058236.story A tremendous shame - I always enjoyed his movies - one of the last of a fast dwindling era. Many memories of the man but I always liked his turn in Cheyenne Autumn. So, a sad day, not least because dear old Mollie Sugden has gone too, but 97 isn't a bad age. Phew.. looks like a big update for the DDP tomorrow then!
-
Bert Johnson, ex Cambridge Utd boss & one of the few remaining FA Cup final players from the 1940's still living... is living no more..
-
If there's an obit for Arundell, you'll be sure to hear about it.. It might come, but I doubt it now, or at least for the CPDP - I have half a chance with the DDP as I have until December 31st...
-
Well, if that's the case, BC Alum has posted twice since MJ's death. Can the mod's please ban him as per his request?
-
You really are a hypocritical little sh*t, aren't you? You've been spending most of the last 6 months going "come on, why isn't she dead" "hurry up & die" "my life is terrible because people don't die" etc etc. And now you're being all weepy weep. In fact I think I remember you saying that Fawcett's cancer was all bullshit anyway by the media. I agree your sentiments now, don't get me wrong, it's just the sheer hypocrisy of you I can't stand.
-
Bloody hell... as if I didn't have enough to update already tonight with the DDP - I've just had to stop & start again... A lot of very, very upset people indeed - two of my friends were off to see him next month - sorry to come all BC Alum like but THIS is a significant death - quite possibly the first one that will get people up & watching the rolling news since Diana, I would imagine... Not my cup of tea, either as a person or musically, but by 'eck he was talented. We're definitely poorer for his loss.
-
I doubt it very much. McMahon, Arundell & Bean - that's 3 of my 2010 DDP team gone & I can't think of many decent replacements. Might be a bit of a crap team being entered....
