    Ahmet Ertegün

Ertegun recovering. No he ain't 18 days... He's in a deep coma, unless they switch him off I'm backing him to get to 2007 I'm keeping him off my list until Dec 31st. I think I've killed off Anton Balasingham by putting him on my list last week Why won't it work on the ones I've put on my list for this year?

    Near misses 2006

Expect severe knashing of teeth by Octopus (although Octopi don't have teeth do they?).... They're not doing their civic duty and waiting till next year.... You'll get that from me too, I had him as my #1 pick for next year. oh well back to the drawing board

    Not Exactly Famous...

well done Phantom, beat me to it. Peter Boyle is the type of person who needs a different thread title, as I'd argue he's pretty famous (Everyone Loves Raymond is syndicated in the US, UK and I'd guess probably another 20 countries at least), but he wouldn't be a "Near Miss" either, because, even though he looks to have been about 95, he was only 71. Must have been that hard-living Hollywood lifestyle. He can be moved to a thread of his own, I just can't abide that TV series though

    Titanic Survivors

You know Godot, seeing that clip not only got me excited for another Leo DiCaprio movie, but also got me to wondering the same as you - are there any people who sailed on the Titanic who are alive to this day? It seems so unlikely that there could be, but if by some miracle there were to be one (or even two) survivors, I think we should include them on the 2007 list, because surviving the Titanic disaster has to be the most famous achievement in the history of the World. It was only 1912 it happened, not even 100 years ago. I think we should wait until there is just 1 remaining survivor and then include them on the list. That could be difficult if they were both to die in the same year.

    Titanic Survivors

Noooooooooo. This question has been asked too many times in this thread. No to there's none still alive or no as in frustration in people keep asking? I'm pretty certain there is still 2 still alive. I'm sure that's what Wikipedia says... oh and that Jack Dawson chap, I just saw him being thawed from a block of ice and revived, so he should be on that list

    The Deathlist Christmas Special!

Quote from Wicki entry: "The vibrating laughter produced by the Tickle Me Elmo uses the same motorized device that is used for the vibrate mode found in almost all cellular phones." Maybe I will buy the missus one after all. This is the best bit:- This Elmo is all about tickles. Sit T.M.X. Elmo down and hit one of his three "tickle" spots There's one under his chin, one on his belly, and one on top of his foot. Yes, this Elmo wiggles just like he did 10 years ago, but that's just the start. Elmo slaps his belly, falls forward with his butt sticking out, stands back up again only to topple backwards, kicks his legs over his belly, and then stands right back up, all while laughing hysterically. "Again! Again!" Elmo gets more outrageous when you "tickle" him a second time, and the fun really starts with the third "tickle" session. Elmo's fancy moves include falling over on his side, shimmying on his back, and what seems to be everyone's favorite: lying flat on his belly slapping the floor next to him as if he can’t stop laughing. This Elmo has a serious case of the giggles. His trademark voice builds into a fit of histrionics, endless snickers that drown out everything but an unintelligible cackle until even Elmo admits he has had too much.

    Margaret Thatcher

The island could not have existed without support from the mainland. As for the other two, they too are unsustainable in the long run. The Falkland Islands are a massive drain on British taxpayers' money. It's a shame we didn't negotiate them away before the Argentinians invaded. Gibralter is an anachronism, rather like Northern Ireland. Regards, Godot, socialist and proud of it. The Falkland Islands weren't British territory to begin with just like Hong Kong wasn't. We stole the Falklands from the Argentinians 200 years ago.

    Evel Knievel

I had one of them!! It's weird as I was just trying to describe it to the wife last night as she was asking me about toy crazes in England I remember mine also had a ramp too so you could get Evel to jump over boxes etc Sadly mine was destroyed when Evel failed to leap over a small fire. I really wish I had taken better care of my toys when I was younger. My action man toy also met a terrible end when he was shot by a sniper while trying to escape across the garden using the washing line.

    The Deathlist Christmas Special!

Phantom, are you sure that the Tickle-Me Elmo TMX is for children? I was thinking of getting one for the Missus. Well it says on the box for 18+ months, but it's really cool. I almost want to keep it for myself. We're raffling one off for my cocker spaniel rescue organization and I have sold tons of tickets to childless people. They really are one of the most sought after toys of this year, there's one on ebay that's going for $300 at the moment. I've not had a chance to call my parents back home, so I'm not sure if they're as in demand in the UK as they are over here. I've put the Elmo to be from her nan & grandad, I was considering labelling from Santa / Father Christmas but I'll be damned if I'm going to let some fat bloke in a red suit take all the credit

    The Deathlist Christmas Special!

Well even though it's not Christmas just yet, I have just one present to buy and that's for the wife. I finished putting the icing on the cake for my daughter's present with a brilliant (if I don't say so myself) find on ebay which was a Tickle-Me Elmo TMX which I won for $32.50 I sat online for a few hours watching a number of auctions and the frantic bidding on them, some of the Elmo TMX toys went for $70 and more, and one of them even ended up at $118 Then all of a sudden I noticed one auction that seemed to have slipped by a lot of people as there were just 2 bids on it. So, I put my bid when there were just a couple of minutes left... and I won. It arrived today in the mail. So, even though I had to pay for the postage, it still worked out at $39.50 which was just 50 cents less than the store price and I didn't have to spend money on petrol to get to the store or brave the crowds of people. Even though my daughter will be 8 months old around Christmas time, I'm hoping this will be a Christmas for her to remember. The Elmo is almost twice the size of my lil 'un

Come on Tammy, hang in there. Only 21 more days. You can do it! Really! Go you really think! I think not! Oh look at me, I'm Rotten Ali - TFM is a pick on my 2006 DDP. When does the smugness stop with you you sly bastard? I hope she does make it just so on the first of January I can laugh in your face. She needs to hold on until the start of next year. I've gone through nearly an entire pencil reorganising my list the past couple of months

    World's Oldest

Considering Robert Young was the poster of the news, I think it is very likely she has died. Give it till tomorrow morning (UK) or later tonight (US) So, Mercado del Toro is now the oldest person in the world. He would have to be on my DDP list and not the other two.... I'll have to hold off on announcing the news just yet as one of the stipulations from our "family" dead pool is that they need a news site web write-up. Although if I happen to catch it on the CNN crawler, then it will only be a matter of time before it appears on their site. OK it's now on CNN
