Iain, I thought Michael Foot was your next target?

I would hate to see Lemmy die anytime soon, one of the nicest blokes I've ever met. He bought me a beer and sat and chatted to me at Donnington back in '88 after some neanderthal broke my nose.

Germany are playing Poland on the 14th. It would be ironic that day if Germany were to lose and Waldheim died on the same day.

I think he believed he worked for the competition. regards, Hein the neighbour of the beast?

That's the 5th one I had pencilled in for 2007 to have died already this year. I was even telling my father-in-law that I was thinking of dropping him from my list as I had a feeling that his condition was exagerated. I couldn't have been more wrong Weird how he's the 3rd pianist / keyboard player to have died within a week Vince Welnick, Johnny Grande and now Billy Preston

Now that Catherine Zeta-Jones-Douglas has become firmly established in Hollywood, Charlotte Church is a well-known celebrity slapper in the UK, & Niki-J has hit the big time in Oz, the Welsh film industry is to receive additional funding to step up production. For once, I find myself sympathising with Iain! Freddie Garrity relegated to the "Not Exactly Famous" thread?! He had 4 UK top 5 hits in the 60s, and anyone who was around then would surely class him as pretty famous. "I'm telling you now" went to No.1 in the US. I agree and am quite surprised by the relegation. I would have thought Freddie and the Dreamers were as famous as say, for example, Gerry and the Pacemakers. Not quite Beatles heights of fame, obviously, but surely up there with the likes of Herman and his Hermits? Even if you haven't heard any of their music, I would have thought the name would be familiar enough to anyone over thirty (ahem, nearer forty). Oh well, the speccy crooner's dead, I guess is all we need to know really. Did no-one have him on their list then? Strangely enough, I mentioned to a few people over here that Freddie Garrity had died, I even had to explain who he was. It wasn't until I had downloaded a couple of his songs and played them that they eventually realised whom I was talking about. Although, I'm not sure that's anything to go on as I even got a few blank faces when I told them that Gene Pitney had died. These were people who were in their teens in the 60s and would most likely to have heard their songs on the radio

Another Biggsy? regards, Hein Quite possibly, Kevorkian's health much like Felt, Brady and Biggs have been "failing" for at least the past couple of years. All at some point have been given just a few months to live.

Lawyer: Kevorkian's Health Deteriorating

I have to admit, when I saw the headline on Teletext & it said "Singer Freddie dies", I'd thought I'd gone back in time to when Mercury died. I was desperately trying to rack my brains whilst waiting for the story to come up to think of a singer famous enough to be called "Freddie" (ie just the one name). I failed. When I read the report, I found out I'd never heard of him anyway. I was surprised to see he got a mention on CNN I didn't think he was that well known over this side of the Atlantic
-
Whomever got there first is of no interest of mine, although I know I got the age correct as he was 65 and not 66 when he sadly died
-
Probably got moved to the "not really famous..." thread Not many people have heard of Freddie & The Dreamers, they were very much a flash-in-the-pan group You rarely hear their songs on the radio, I've only heard of them because of footage that I've seen on "The Rock 'n' Roll Years" of their appearance on Blue Peter

Freddie Garrity lead singer for Freddie & The Dreamers has died at the age of 65

the next deathlist hit will come this weekend I predict and whom might that be?
-
Well it may happen at some time sooner or later or later or sooner but today right now it has not yet. Never heard of this person though before you mentyioned him or the main page person had. Not sure who I noticed first had mentioned him. I had Fred Trueman scribbled down on a longer list a couple of years ago. I can't remember exactly, but I'm sure I read somewhere that he had a minor cancer scare about 5 years ago.
-
Fiery Fred Trueman is currently being treated for cancer edited: Just noticed there's a separate thread about Fred Trueman. Can someone move my post or failing that, just delete it?

Maybe that is the curse

I think Keef is destined to die in a more dramatic death than this. What a legacy to leave behind to have quoted in your obituary as "Richards died from head injuries sustained from falling out of a palm tree" It's not as bad as the previous accident of "In 1998, he broke three ribs and punctured a lung falling from a ladder while reaching for a book in his library." I wonder what he book was that he wanted so badly? I heard on the news the other week that Keef said he was going to quit smoking and drinking, surely blood in his alcohol system would kill him.

That would have made him somewhere between 10 and 14 years old during the Great War, so that's highly unlikely. (googling) He is quite young though. If he makes it till december, he'll celebrate his 105th birthday. He served on a submarine as a young lad. Were those navy-guys never checking ID's? Admitting 15 or 16 yrs old on a boat seems to be a brute way of saving space. It's highly possible he would have been at least 14 at the time. Many WWI soldiers lied about their age wanting to do their bit to stop the advance of the Kaiser and even more so when the Russians pulled out towards the end. Forgot to log in last time, and I was obviously struggling with the maths too. The 101-years old would have been 9 in 1914 and 13 in 1918, which would have made it highly unlikely that he actually served. You're right about those youngsters who were so anxious to enroll that they lied about their age, but I refuse to believe that the Americans allowed many 13-years old to enter the navy. They can't have been that stupid, can they? (Feel free to prove me wrong, Americans keep surprising me when it comes to them being stupid...) But as I already mentioned: Maurice Starkey celebrated his 104th birthday last december, so that mystery was already solved. I doubt a 13 yr old would have made it through the screening process to enter into the navy, but quite a few 14 yr olds did enrol from both sides of the Atlantic, more so on the European front. In fact my neighbour when I lived in England, he was just 14 when he fought in the Great War, he was injured fairly early on and was sent back to England and was still young enough to do his bit when WWII was declared. He sadly died about 20 years ago.

Indeed. Today's glorious example of a Wikipedia hoax: Prof. Dr. Kim, 55, professor of pomology, Chungbuk National University, heart attack. [citation needed] I don't know whether to laugh or cry.... at first I thought that said "pornology" Thankfully I'm not the only one who thought that must get my mind out of the gutter..... or one day I'll fall off the roof

That's five totally crap films a year. What was the last decent movie he was in? Anything since Remains of the Day? I've always wanted a "Remains of the Day" lunchbox

It certainly makes a change from the idiots who want to be nailed to a cross over the easter weekend in previous years

hmmm a 94 yr old in a ticketing scam... makes me wonder if they got the names mixed up and were intending to report about my friend's gran. She cheats constantly when playing Shanghai Rummy
