How sweet - a Phantomette! Hope all goes well. (Is it your first?) Lady Die, Many thanks, yes this is our first one, nursery is all decorated. The only thing that's needed is the baby. And you're right with your guess, this one will be a Phantomette (ie a baby girl Phantom)

I think we should merge this one with the existing one, before it gets too big to move

Not sure what I'll be doing, wife is currently 8 months pregnant so who knows when she might go into labour. one couple that were in the same parenting class as us had their baby a couple of weeks ago (it was 7 weeks premature) so I guess we'll just see what we feel like that day. Most likely end up at a friends house who combines her birthday party with an Easter get-together

Rapper Proof (DeShaun Holton) shot dead at a night club. I've never heard of him, but feel free to move this to the near misses thread if needed. [Moved to rappers thread - ff]

Iain, Wikipedia is still an unreliable source though. I would advise that if you do see a death reported/listed on wikipedia and wish to add it to the near misses or not really famous threads, then use one from an online newspaper or an established news site eg Reuters, BBC, CNN etc. It's where you rely too heavily on deaths reported on Wikipedia that leave you open to be flamed. Iain, check your sources, please. Gary Gray, the actor, it appears, is STILL ALIVE. Just another Wiki hoax, it seems as there is no report of his death anywhere- your link just goes straight to his imdb page. There was a recent news report about a tramp, called Gary Gray, who was found dead, and one presumes, they linked them together for a laugh. (or that's what it seems like so far - unless someone can produce a reliable source. Sorry to make the writing so big, but I have to ram home the point about a reliable source & wiki fakes & people who are NOT dead! I think the use of Wikipedia as a source for listing celebrity deaths should be banned. Unless it's reported / confirmed on an actual news site or an official fan website we should just strike any reference to wikipedia from the list

I don't recognise him at all, he's been in quite a few movies throughout his career though. The original Lassie movie? hmmm I always thought Roddy McDowell was in the original one "Lassie Come Home" in 1943, whereas Gary Gray was in "The Painted Hills - aka Lassie's Adventures in the Goldrush" which wasn't until 1951 (8 years later) I cant claim to be a Lassie expert so you might be right about that. I can't claim to be a Lassie expert either, although using imdb.com gave me the relevant information that I needed

What with your last joke in the other thread and this, you seem determined to insult as many people as you can! Excellent work, keep it up. Thank you. It's nice to be appreciated. A personal grudge against the Welsh Tourist Information people?

Nice to see the standard of the vocabulary used by the tabloids hasn't been affected. There's even a 3 syllable word in the first paragraph of the report

I'm trying to think what mode of transport would get someone from Cardiff to Tulsa in 24 hours. A plane is too fast, boat is too slow, train wouldn't make it. It's approximately 4,500 miles, so you'd need to travel a little under 200 mph. Maybe by helicopter, if they can fly that far. Or you could refuel in the Azores or something. Also depends on the type of helicopter. I don't know much about helicopters. It could be possible to make the trip in 24 hours in a Piper Archer which has a cruise speed of 125 - 135 kts which is approximately 150 miles per hour or alternately an RV6 which has a cruise speed of just under 200kts

Henry Farrell author of "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane" has died at the age of 85 Edited by Phantom Just wanted to add, that "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane" had a very powerful storyline. Makes you wonder if the same thing could possibly happen in real life, perhaps with the Olson twins or maybe between Jessica and Ashley Simpson Both Joan Crawford and Bette Davis were amazing in the movie of "whatever happened.." Think I might watch the movie again tonight

Something's got a hold of his heart Looks like a mad rush to be the first to report Pitney's death. Have to say I'm really surprised that he's died. Especially since he was only 65. Saw him on tv just over a year ago and he looked fine.

Columnist Art Buchwald 'gravely ill, yet spirited' It looks like he does not have too long to go. I regret not selecting him for my team. I forgot all about him. I have half a dozen lists of people pencilled in, I get confused as to which list to use

My ex-Modern Studies teacher claimed to be the 5th Beatle. Although he was not part of the band he was very close to the band in their early days. He went to school with one of them. Needless to say, they became millionaires and he bacame a modern studies teacher - obviously didn't think that much of him... No, I'm the fifth Beatle Pete Best probably considers himself the 5th Beatle. If not him, I guess Stewart Sutcliff would be. Or perhaps the 5th Beatle hasn't been recognized just yet? Will the real 5th Beatle, please step forward!!

déjà vu http://www.deathlist.net/forums/index.php?...indpost&p=58343 I need to use a different news site. BBC is starting to be really slow when it comes to latest news

I was just listening to their song "Don't Let Me Down" yesterday afternoon

This has just appeared on the BBC website Ariel Sharon to have head surgery

I'm not so sure either. Osama has lived on dialysis for years supposedly, and he's not exactly in a first-class hospital... You mean he's been captured and handed over to the NHS? That's what they should have done to Ronnie Biggs

Iain, well that's a good thing for the families of those that are related to people who are close to death that they haven't died. Unless of course they were universally despised. And it's a bad thing for the prediction game. But bear in mind, people have a habit of dying over the Easter weekend. For some reason Bank Holidays always seem to bring a bumper crop of celebrity deaths Have to admit I've not heard of Penny Jay whom you mentioned in your earlier post. But then again I'm not a big fan of country music. Interesting theory Phantom, that more deaths occur at a particular time of year, or better yet that more deaths occur on a certain holiday, whose date changes from year to year. It's been a popular DL topic for discussion over the years - is this a good month/time of year for people to die? Taking an empirical approach to analysing this fascinating issue, the starting point is that absent external forces, there's no reason why more people should die on any given day, so there should over time be an equal number of deaths occuring on each day of the year. Seems like weather extremes might make a difference, so that middle of winter and height of summer should have more deaths, especially when you consider the middle of winter in the N. Hemisphere is also the height of summer in the S. Hemisphere. Not sure if other factors (popular travel days, days when everyone crams lots of food into their mouths, Halibut holy days which involve some sort of pilgrimmage and therefore the trampling to death of at least a couple of hundred) really make that much difference in the big scheme of things. Logically, therefore, seems to me January and July should be the months when most deaths, and therefore celebrity deaths, occur. I couold go back and look through the previous lists to see if there's any truth to that, but really can't be arsed bothered. I don't know whether it's actually more deaths that occur, but more often or not it seems to be more significant deaths that happen. Or whether the deaths become more noticiable around christmas, easter and other bank holidays. Quite a few celeb deaths have happened over the gap between christmas and new year, although only a few spring straight to mind. Or perhaps it's because those times of year are usually slow news days that they tend to stand out more ok I'm waffling now

Anubis, Billy Preston was discussed briefly in the Ideas and Possibilities for 2007 thread I'm hoping he will hold out until 2007 I'm confused as to how many people are regarded as to being The 5th Beatle, at one point Stuart Sutcliffe was considered to be the 5th, then it was Pete Best and now Billy Preston EDIT oh well Slave to the Grave beat me to it with the link looking at his bio I'd say Preston would pass the "must be an article about his death in the British print media which isn't an obituary" litmus test which I use as a famousness measure. That's quite a leap the writer makes when he states "Preston's the real fifth Beatle", since he only played with them toward the end, in the Yoko era, long after the likes of Sutcliffe and Best. Seems to me there's a better argument he was the 6th Stone. Or do I mean 7th? 8th? Preston was more closer to George Harrison than the other 3 Beatles having performed in the Concert For Bangladesh and also the tribute concert for George. I had no idea he played for the Stones. Then again I have to admit I don't own that many albums by the Stones.

I forgot about Brian Epstein and George Martin But Linda McCartney??
