Phantom replied to Tuber Mirum's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
indeed! Happy Birthday Anubis -
I've had Ronnie on my list for the past couple of years, sheesh the guy is like the Queen Mum. I think he'll live forever
-
Clive Dunn used to live in Putney during the 60's and 70's. My dad used to cut his hair

How about Anna Wing? if she lasts out the year, she'll be 92
-
Has anyone considered adding Tony Hart (81) for next year? he hasn't really done much for a few years.
-
Well when I describe them as "doddering old privates" I wouldn't discredit their involvement at all. I think they should have a major instrumental role, eg a Field Marshall / Colonol ... Squadron Leader... that sort of thing. But thanks for clearing up the initial disupute. I totally agree that longevity doesn't qualify someone for the DL

ahhh yes, "Weekend World" hmmm how about Brian Walden. possible youngester though at 73

Bald Rick, My argument exactly, although I don't entirely agree about the old soldier bit. I mean someone like Douglas Bader if they were still alive would qualify I guess as he was a Spitfire pilot and Ace during WWII, but not some doddering old army private who just happened to reach a certain age.. if you get how I mean

I loved Cohen's interview & radio phone-in on BBC Radio 2 about 15 years ago, when a listener called in and asked him why his songs were so depressing.. Cohen replied that it wasn't his songs, it was his voice

why did anyone have to mention Tessa Wyatt??? Now I'll have to go through the whole day with a cushion on my lap

Godot, "Dear Heather" is a unusual album, Cohen's lyrics get stranger and stranger as the years pass by. I went to see him at the Royal Albert Hall back during his "I'm Your Man" tour. I think I was the youngest person there. His son Adam has some good stuff out. I quite like Adam's debut album. Well worth a listen

if she survives another year, how about Maria Esther de Capovilla? she's currently 116. Btw what's everyone else's opinion on choosing the world's oldest man / woman I had this debate with my father-in-law the other day as I personally feel that they don't exactly qualify as they're barely classed as a celebrity

This just in on the BBC site "Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has shown movement in his left arm and leg for the first time since his stroke last week, Israeli Army radio has said"

I'm in 3 dead pools. Rotten Dead Pool (Online) and two family ones, one of which is a $5 draft (total prize money is $35 this year) and a $10 sweepstake (last year's winner collected $130, this year it's grown to $150)

When Elvis finally consumed his last cheeseburger.. Mark Chapman made his acquaintance with John Lennon..and Freddie Mercury took his final bow.. their records were played for 24 hours on the radio. News just in.. Gillette are increasing their production for the eventuality of Leonard Cohen's death
-
sad to see Tony go, however I managed to net 2 points for him as my #1 pick in a sweepstake. Loads of those in the sweepstake thought they were on to a winner by choosing Ariel Sharon
-
How about Mollie Sugden? she's getting on a fair bit
-
afaik Dame Vera is in good health. probably Bettie Page would be a better pick
