Leslie Philips I would like to have said that Richard Adams was an educated guess, but I just picked the same person each time

A terrific actress who could do both comedy and pathos. My son who is 8 was deeply upset. He loved her in Charlie & The Chocolate Factory even though she didn't have much of a role in it. The last time he was this upset was when Alan Rickman died. He always thought I looked like the character of Severus Snape when my hair was longer. Here's a tribute to her https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CvPgcZCrLo

Blowfly:-/ I'll be honest I totally forgot Natalie Cole died this year - which explains the magnitude of those we lost in a nutshell. You can add Pete Burns and Rick Parfitt to the list. Scotty Moore and Joe Clay too. Many others I could add to that list, but that's 4 off the top of my head. And Prince Buster. And Bernie Worrell. Aye, I'll be posting a link hereabouts when we do our List of the Lost radio show, chronicling the music of the dead 'uns this year. We've rolled the odd one - Inspiral Carpets - over to another show. For me one of the saddest was cult country legend Guy Clark. A mate of mine here in Minneapolis does a similar show. Usually it's a 2 part show, this year I think he's had to do it each week for December so far. -

Ultimately everyone dies of heart failure. Why his heart failed is the question. I know. Whenever my wife asks why someone died and the cause hasn't been determined. I usually reply with "stopped breathing" -

Oh you (accurate) prophet of doom... I honestly don't think he's finished either.

Does anyone get the feeling it was either suicide or an overdose? -
David Bowie was on the b-side (around the 2:05 mark)

I was rereading her story just a couple of weeks ago. Sole survivors of plane crashes make for chilling but fascinating reads, her case being my personal fav both for the fact she was able to survive that drastic a fall and that once she recovered she resumed her career as if nothing happened. Her name came up in a conversation at work just a week ago. We were talking about the Guinness Book of World Records and that it was one of those strange records I remember as a kid.

6 am, WTF? I used to be a church bellringer and we never rang before 9 am or after 9 pm. Between that and the old folks home on the other side blaring out Mantovani and James Last records in the early hours of the afternoon, it's a wonder I got any sleep. They would only ring the bells that early for Christmas Day. Any regular Sunday service it was about 9am,

Meh. I'm currently on Phase 3 of The Cold (sore throat, cough, tubes blocked again) and I haven't been to church either. I'm perfectly healthy and I ain't going to church either. Lizzie has joined the atheist revolution! I used to live next door to a church for a couple of years. Wretched bells would wake me up at 6am on Christmas Day. There's no way I'd drag myself out of the house and to church on any day, let alone Dec 25th.

At 81 he's getting up there in years, but considerably younger than Arthur Rankin Jr was when he passed away a couple of years ago at the age of 89

Just when you thought this year couldn't get any worse. Oh well still 7 days left, I'm sure the reaper still has some surprises up his sleeve.

I thought I'd be more surprised that she's gone. You wait all these years, then when she's finally gone it's just "oh well"

Similar magazine National Examiner, has Regis Philbin down to 117lbs.

Died like a good Canadian. Heart attack while playing ice hockey with his son. Edited to say according to TMZ he was playing tennis. Although I've seen reports that he was playing ice hockey.

I think I'm going to include the latter on my shadow list for next year. Did something happen to her voice so she couldn't sing again? The article suggests lung disease. Aretha did a version of the Star Spangled Banner prior to the 'Murican football game at Thanksgiving just a couple of weeks ago
