Nothing really new Leukaemia in remission still can`t fly etc. I think we should drop him from next years list.He is not a well man but is still active in remission from cancer and is not in the latter stages of emphysema yet.What does everyone else think?

I don`t believe him!If she had been outside he would have been the first to take photos of her lying in the sun with her tongue hanging out!There`s also no point in planning a 100th birthday for a 97 year old as they can deteriate a lot in 3 years ... how much more this woman can deteriate I don`t know.She will probably just go without warning like Ronnie Biggs!

I think he looks really ill gaunt and drained! He has looked like that for a while now but it is still incredibly sad to see him like this! I am inclined to agree with Dr Zorders as I have never known anyone with the stage 4 cancer live nearly two years. A friend of mine1s father was diagnosed with colorectal cancer that had metastasized to his liver and he died 8 months later. Sam Simon has cancer in all the major organs and brain so this must be getting near a record. Can anyone think of someone who lived 2 years with a cancer that had metastasized into 6 different places?

I think this is a no brainer (pun not intended).Joan is 81 years old fiercely independent and was very frank about her own mortality and her disdain for those who are very old, she most probably has severe brain damage and her body clearly can`t support itself anymore-her time is up! I do really feel for her daughter though, as from experience deciding to let nature take its course on a loved one as opposed to keeping them alive artificially is the hardest personal decision you can make. It feels on an emotional level that if you let them die it is your fault and that you are giving up on them when really it is just accepting the inevitable and letting the life cycle run its course on its own terms as opposed to yours which are usually irrational and based purely on false hope and belief in miracles. It`s the ultimate cruel to be kind scenario.
