I hope so.Jean Alexander was such a coronation street icon .That scene where she holds Stans glasses after he dies always brings a tear to my eyes !

To be honest it is a bit harsh to criticize the committee_I mean there,have,been only 4 hits and six months but the next half of the year could easily achieve another 8 as the majority of the list are either very old or very ill .There only a handful of picks who I would be surprised to hear have gone this year (,Pratchett,P.D James ,George H.W Bush,Prince Philip ,Aznavour , Bennett and Asner ) and even they are all pretty old or ill.

I think that the death of a 98 year old man who has been out of the public eye for four years and had already had a stroke is hardly surprising !Anyone got any ideas for a caption ?

I happen to volunteer for a local.charity and have done so for 3 years but cheers for the advice _ The charity I volunteer for specialises in palliative care for children so I find that far sadder than the people on this list who have all had either a fulfilled or long life _and Betting on people dying is an action all of us partake in even if its only "Will the elderly wife or husband next door snuff it first"_In fact when my grandmother died my grandfathers reaction was "Christ I always thought i"d go first " so take a chill pill and accept that death happens regardless of this sites existence !
