I would say elderly refers roughly to a person who is visibly past retirement age.There is no specific age you can attribute to or state of health.Say if you have a couple in their 70`s and one is riddled with Alzheimer's and bedridden and the other runs half marathons they can still be referred to as an elderly couple.

It just takes the current year (2017) and subtracts the year when he was born (1916) arriving at the figures you see on the front page. It's guaranteed to be accurate at the end of the year (31st of December, 2017); but it doesn't keep track of the exact birthdates (day-month). There are only fifty of them - it can't be that much of a slog to enter the ages manually, shirley? Yeah but someone would have to manually update 50 names on 48 different days. Why would they have to update all the names each time? Only the person whose birthday it is would have to be changed. (Insert adult nappy joke here.) Not trying to be argumentative; I just feel I'm missing something. I meant near enough every few days or so someone would have to manually alter the ages of the individuals who have just celebrated their birthday.

Do people qualify for being on the list simply for being related to someone famous? Some people were talking of including Roberta McCain, who at 104 is famous for being, what, the mother of a US presidential candidate? Mary Wilson is a similar case. Are they really famous in their own right to qualify for the list? Both have Wikipedia articles and McCain did some some help with campaigning and Wilson is a poet but there is nothing major that makes them stand out as particularly notable other than who they are related to. If you could include them, why not include John Wetton's 101-year-old mother on the list? Where do you draw the line? I suppose it's possible to contrast cases like that with relations who are obviously notable, like US First Ladies, who are always clearly deathlistable. Rose Kennedy was on the list in 1995 and Elizabeth Edwards made it on 2008 I believe.If I was in charge I would say only a leaders direct family are worthy of inclusion.Only world leaders though so I would say no to Roberta McCain but if Trump`s mother was still alive she would get on I suspect.It is a grey area.

Cloris is wheel-chair bound and has Alzheimers. Betty is still going strong. In a recent interview she gave to the Hollywood reporter she seemed ok.She is still working and can hold a conversation and play the piano.Can`t see any evidence of Alzheimer`s. Seems ok for 90.
