Not trolling through this whole thread in case someone has already suggested it, but how about a KoS for the artists? (I’m half pissed (ran out of money :-() ) as I write this.  I’m sure there are lots of bands/singers that have had a huge number of songs in the charts.

Bang up for this. We could have a thread where any players with an idea for a theme can take it in turns to curate a one-round KoS game. The possibilities are endless; a Bowie game, anyone? Summer hits? Songs beginning with the letter 'Q'?

@Paul Bearer I proposed this game a little while ago. Don't know if anyone else would be up for running 3 games concurrently. Also, someone else would have to host, I have my hands full with The Best Of The Rest players choice games.

This format would essentially mean all players take it in turns to 'host'; the game would just run on one-round mini-games we all create. Whoever has an idea for a theme, just make a list of songs that fit the theme (for argument's sake, anywhere between 15-35 songs), make yourself known and join the queue to host your game!

 

I don't mind making the thread for it if there's enough appetite and keeping a Hall of Fame going on the first post of this thread.

I do like this idea, but I'm not sure how well it would work for a more prolific artist. This is why I reposted my suggestion of a game where we go through the studio albums of an artist, selecting a song or 2 for the final until we settle on a winner. 

 

Conceivably we could just look at songs that made it into the charts, but for a band like Pink Floyd, they made a lot of albums, with some great music, but only 7 songs made it into the top 40. Or even Led Zepplin, not quite so prolific, only 9 studio albums with 2 charting singles, but again some excellent, in my opinion at least, music on there.

Again, it'd be entirely down to whoever proposed a theme to compile a list for us to play through. Everyone else will just have to promise not to get arsey if they've thought of a song which should be in there but isn't. I don't think it should be confined to songs that charted; we've got that down in the games that you, Book, wannamaker and I have overseen.

 

There are so many possibilities for rounds we could play, I'd suggest keeping the game to just the one round to whittle down to a winner rather than having qualifiers and a final. That way, people get their turn to host without an excruciating wait, and anyone who doesn't fancy one of the themes shouldn't have long to wait before they'll want to be back in the game.

Keep the list handy for now. I'll start the new thread soon, then if you can, format it so it's nice and neat and introduce and post it in the new thread. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, DM me with it.

 

We'll use this thread for deciding on themes. So, everyone, if you have a theme you'd like to play, whether that theme be a genre, an artist, or even something wacky, compile your list (I'd recommend at least 15 songs) and let us know what game you're gonna bring us and you'll join the queue! First come, first served, so unless @Paul Bearer has a specific theme in mind, Fox B's hip hop round will go first.

I don't have the time to host a game (unless someone willing to co mod with me), but I have lots of ideas for ones, including classical music. Can be modern day classics such as John Williams right through to Beethoven. My dad used to sell classical music vinyl on ebay so it's not rare for classical music to come blaring out of his record player in his office.

Just in case anyone thinks hosting a Kill or Save is hard, this is what would be involved in hosting a themed round:

 

- Compile the list of songs you want in your game.

- Format the list so it looks neat and put a 20 before each song.

- Post the list and explain what the theme is (e.g. Here's my round: Classical Music. Lovely innit. 20 Debussy – Clair De Lune, etc. etc. etc.)

- Play the game with everyone else.

- Do a finishing order at the end (a 5 minute job).

 

That's it. No need to make a new thread; it's all going in one, which I'll make. No need to update the Hall of Fame or links to other games; I'll do that on Page 1 of this thread. No need to single-handedly take responsibility of scoring; between us, we're all more than capable of keeping things going smoothly.

Kind of, yeah. It's however many go through to the final, so if 6 go through in one round, it's the first 6 out from it.

A quick reminder.

 

Entries are open for the next Best of the Rest players choice game - this time we will cover 6-10s of the 80s. The first round of the 70s game took a fortnight, so in theory the same again until the final, still plenty of time to get your entries in. Details are back on page 4 of this thread.

Very down to participate in the misc. KoS rounds as a whole dependent on topic knowledge. Hosting though... I mean, I've barely posted or existed too much around these parts and a brief scan a while back through existing KoS rounds and other various conversations leaves me fairly convinced that any topic I'd most want to do would not be highly regarded to say the least.

Float the idea here. There aren’t many rounds I wouldn’t play. If the consensus is ‘nahh’, just think of another.
