The Immortal 520 Posted December 1, 2023 Another off the radar astronaut death, STS-9 backup payload specialist Michael Lampton on June 9th this year. Astronauts have been dying at a rapid rate lately and it's probably not over yet. Tom Stafford is in the ICU. Jim Lovell, Joe Engle and maybe even Buzz Aldrin are also possibilities.
Summer in Transylvania 1,565 Posted January 14 It doesn't look like this has been mentioned yet, Thomas Patten Stafford was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer last year but seems to have recovered from that at least. The article is dated at 19th October 2023, so before his November/December ICU stay.
The Immortal 520 Posted January 30 Joe Engle in April 2023. In my opinion, in considerably worse shape than Buzz Aldrin. Also pretty concerned about Lovell now, since his wife died there's been complete radio silence and no info even among my groups regarding his current status these days. There seems to be a lot of local Oklahoma based news journalists and networks carrying the story on Twitter but nothing national

That site frequently breaks stories like this. His death is everywhere on Facebook, with local news organisations, U.S. senators and Col. Chris Hadfield all posting about it, so it's not in dispute.
ThereWillBeDeaths7 585 Posted March 18 With Stafford's death, all Apollo 10 crew members have passed away - It's the 3rd Apollo mission to die out, after Apollo 14 and 12 (quite a bad streak for the even numbered missions). There are only 7 out 24 Apollo astronauts left: Aldrin, Scott, Duke, Schmitt (succesful missions 11, 15, 16, 17); as well as Lovell, Anders and Haise - Apollo 8 and/or 13).

Some of the folks there are in contact with the astronauts/families and related organizations, particularly the founder, so that's where he likely gets that info. I'm not a member, but I know people who are members of that site in my space groups and some of them are in touch with astronauts and their families.

Lafaucheuse 3,602 Posted March 18 I was just about to start a sweepstake yesterday between Stafford and Lovell. Guess I was too late. At long last another hit for my main team, a DDP pick of mine and will score in AO too

RoverAndOut 3,257 Posted March 18 Got to be a decent chance Charlie Duke's the last one standing, certainly of the moonwalkers... Stafford has died 59 years to the day since Alexei Leonov's first spacewalk.
