Gunjaman5000 30 Posted June 20, 2005 Unknown outside his native land, but a story I think we can all enjoy. The Christian Heritage Party's former leader finds himself in trouble. Big trouble. oh dear
Magere Hein 1,400 Posted June 20, 2005 Big trouble. oh dear Ah, another religious type of "do as I say, not as I do" persuasion. Crying and repenting in public supposedly brings in lots of cash... strike that... relief. regards, Hein

Lady Die 63 Posted June 21, 2005 It's a great way to meet interesting people. Certainly, but is it fun? regards, Hein Yeah, it's great fun. I'd much rather listen to a dull sermon and then sing some dirgy hymns than go shopping.

I'd much rather listen to a dull sermon and then sing some dirgy hymns than go shopping. It is the singing, which can be done loudly and obtrusively and with great gusto, which I particularly enjoy. Not that I ever go, unless my work takes me there.

The last time I met singing in a church was at my Granny's funeral. Most of the mourners were, like my Granny, very old, so the singing was not just out of tune but also out of breath. I assure you Psalm 23 sounds rather strange, sung that way. There were some younger people present as well, but they knew neither tune nor words. Not that I ever go, unless my work takes me there. The last time I was in a church was two years ago in Uppsala, Sweden, as a tourist. The last time I attended a service was eight years ago, at another funeral. Not bad for an atheist, eh? regards, Hein

I enjoy embarrassing Josco junior at Christmas evensong by singing "Oh Come All Ye Faithful" in latin with orotund magniloquence.

PS: Come on Josco! Only 2 more posts and you have made it to the top of the list! I wonder if you are entitled to some sort of award?

Teddy 21 Posted June 21, 2005 PS: Come on Josco! Only 2 more posts and you have made it to the top of the list! I wonder if you are entitled to some sort of award? Following an Emergency Meeting of the Deathlist Committee, it has been decided that a quality threshold should be implemented when counting the number of posts an individual member has made. It was felt that this was a fair sytem, which encourages good, well thought out and coherent posts, as opposed to the regualr nonsense which some people post just in order to bump up numbers. (The alternative option, of banning the member with the most posts for a period of a week, was rejected by Stayin Alive and Grim Reaper, who had this strange idea that we may all stop posting, just to ensure they always stayed at the top - and always stayed banned ) So, in accordance with revised unwritten rule 22c(iii), which can be applied retrospectively, Josco's number of posts is now reduced to 216. And for the avoidance of doubt, notapotato - we are watching you!!
Tuber Mirum 125 Posted June 21, 2005 On the other hand, look at Josco's "posts per day" statistic, Janeo, and then look at yours. My own is considerably lower. And no, sorry, you failed to guess my profession.

Tuber Mirum 125 Posted June 22, 2005 Wedding Photographer?Font Filler? Organist? Onanist? Demolition Man? Bridesmaid? Teasmade? Do tell... Strangely enough Anubis, I have in my time, done almost all of the things you name, on ecclesiastical premises, though not always for money. Hein is as ever, right. Notapotato is a musician. But not an organist, much as I would like to be one, the organ being to my mind the most efficient musical instrument, producing the maximum degree of noise for the minimum of effort. Doesn't pay that well, sadly. On the two occasions that I have worked as a church organist It would have been more honest of me to have stolen the lead off the roof instead. Policeman is also not a bad guess. I once got offered a job in a police band, and still occasionally play in one. I think I may have mentioned that before on the List.
