Nancy Reagan

Meaning I am approximately the 51st most intelligent teenager (grades 4-10) in this nation.

Yeah - but the nation in question is the USA - so I'm afraid that doesn't really impress us on the other side of the pond. After all, you elected Dubya president just last month... :sicktherm:

Elected the lying cretin for a second time; oh, the shame.

Weatherkid, you're 14-years-old! Your opinion matters, just not to adults yet. I'd suggest you apply yourself to your lessons with more of an open mind. Having set-in-stone political views at your age is hazardous to your mental health.

Too true. We in the UK were inflicted with the full force of Tory-boy (and future Tory leader/election-loser) William Hague at 15.

Getting back to the topic :sicktherm:

I do believe that Nancy Reagan passes the famousness test, but I have not found any news references to her being in ill health. For that reason, I would not include her in my 2005 list.

But that is only my humble opinion. ;)

Common sense would tell you that a middle aged man/woman sitting on a computer predicting and anticipating deaths of celebrities would be quite a bit more hazardous to your health that developing solid political opinions as a teenager. I thought you might also find it interesting that I have a syndrome known as asperger's syndrome, (Bill Gates also has this), Click Hereto find out more.

That might knock a bit of sense into you. Every teacher that I have had up to now in the 10th grade (2 grades ahead of where I should be) has told me and my parents that I talk as if I am 40. My friends as well as other students have also said this. I dont like rap, like most teens, rather, I listen to Barry Manilow hits like "Mandy" and "I write the songs". I am also a vegetarian. All in all, I would say that I'm not youre average teenager and my mind is as ready to develop solid political opinions as it will ever be. Finally, for the people who still cannot keep themselves from moaning about John Kerry's loss 2 months ago, I can see why people here in the states might still be upset because they actually have a perspective of the two candidates because they are actually inhabitants of this great country. However to be in Britain, or wherever you are and degrade our nation's president is just not right. Also, I am as sure as heck that if I had not posted the fact that I am 14 on my website, you guys never ever would have guessed.

The political part was more in referral to Teddy(not sure if he is in Britain or not), however it can be a message for all who enjoy degrading a great man.

Errr - profile says Location: Edinburgh, Scotland. Does this help??

And as to having a perspective on John Kerry and Dubya Bush - I don't think you need to be a resident in the country to form an opinion. That's like saying only residents of the UK can pass comment on Princess Alice :sicktherm:

I know this may come as a shock, weatherboy, but many people take an interest in US politics, especially the Presidential elections. And given the way the UK has been dragged into the war in Iraq, probably more people than ever before on this side of the pond watched events with interest. I would also like to think that the coverage we received here, in particular from the BBC, showed an impartiality that seems lacking from certain US 'news' channels (need I mention Fox?)

However, I must admit to missing out on the best news reporting show of all - Jon Stewart on the Daily Show ;)

Just because I was not living at the time of Regan and such, doesn't mean that I cant know just as much about him and his presidency as you,

Weatherman90, you reserve the right to discuss important events that happened before you were born, I reserve the right to discuss complete tummyrubbish posted on this forum before I was a member.

This might be a good moment to reflect on the fact that about 75% of what you read on the internet is misleading or downright untrue. (Not counting the porn sites of course but definitely counting Fox News)

It doesn't take any kind of special intelligence to come up with an opinion and claim it to be a fact. To come up with one such as "Ronald Reagan was great" suggests quite the opposite to many who were around in the 80's.

In my opinion Reagan perpetuated and escalated the kind of Xenophobic Knee-jerk Paranoia which persists in many parts of the US to this day and helped make them unpopular enough in the world to have their enemies want to fly planes into tall buildings and stuff.

To call him "idiot" is by far not the full story, but to me it is fully justified because of his blinkered confrontational approach and also for his admiration for Mrs. Thatcher.

Indeed you do have that right, However I am merely implying that if it had not been exposed that I am 14 years old (via my website), none of you would have guessed my true age.

In reply to Mr.Potato-Head's Post, I would just like to say that when the administrators decided to list President Reagan's description as an idiot, they were just asking for a fight.

True. "14 years old" and "childish" are two completely different things. It is mere coincidence that Mr Weatherman seems to be both. To name but two of his many obvious qualities.

For all we know, he may be 73 years old and his true name is Julie Andrews. Let us judge him (if at all) by the nature of his postings, and not by his purported age.

Now what do you say we get back on the topic of Nancy?

Just when I thought you were going to get back on the topic of Nancy, you spoil it all with your next post about Ronnie

I think that should make it 30-0 in code violations.

The code in question is 22 (a) (iii) - No contradicting yourself without someone else posting a response first. :)

Although you must admit that the post is true.

I have to agree that the administrators were wrong to call Reagan an idiot. It suggestes a level of intelligence which I doubt he reached and does a great disservice to all other idiots
